Loaded question... but I'll bite. Because there is also a beginning and a middle. If they want to be powerleveled and carried through content in one day just so they can access Ishgard (which is entirely possible to do even before 3.0), it is their prerogative, but then again they aren't really learning to be their best, as you have inferred, and have nobody but themselves to blame for how they are treated when they perform poorly in groups.

It was their personal choice to see that building up battlecraft provides access to even better ways to level AND profit from Crafting and gathering (Leves, Dailies etc), and deciding "that's not for me", undermining their own personal progression out of laziness. The exact same thing applies to Heavensward's new recipes and gathering nodes locked behind Ishgard. Sure, they can continue to level to 60 and profit without doing the battlecraft side of things, it is their choice to undermine their potential to achieve their DoH/DoL goals faster, on the factor of laziness. But again, that was their personal choice to avoid stuff that would make their lives easier.

You are projecting how the game should be redesigned. How is this make you any better? It is NOT a sandbox, where you can go anywhere and do anything regardless of community, lore, or anything else. As I stated in my last post, this is not EVE, nor would it be healthy for XIV to ever want to try to be.

Player 1 sees that the path beginning at point A is the way to get to point B then C.
Player 1 reaches point B.
Player 1 reaches point C.

versus your line of thinking...

Player 2 sees that the path beginning at point A is the way to get to point B then C.
Player 2 doesnt care about point B or C. Player ignores path and hangs out at point A.
Suddenly Point C looks really nice.
Player 2 complains that he has to get past point B to get what he wants.
Player 2 demands a shortcut.

I did read about the main story quest changes and equipment gains and sure it's great for new players, but I wasn't talking about new players. I was selfishly talking about myself and it doesn't help me as I've done the main story up to the point where I can't do anymore.

There is so much more to this game than the main story. Wanting to experience and go trough everything else and not really caring about the main story is not picking up the wrong game. I'm not a big Final Fantasy fan, but I love the aestethics, stories(not only main story), even dabbling little into crafting has been nice.. there's so much about in this. I would love to skip the equiment grind to just to experience the story(or have 1-2player versions of the story raids, similar what Rift does with the chronicles), but as with most other MMO, equipment grind seem to be the necessary evil.. but at least in those I'm not blocked out of whole expansion with that. If I can't continue the main story in the expansion, I'm sure there is still tons of other stuff I could do and enjoy that makes it worth to get it and keep subbed.

I am in a nice Free Company, it's just small and online times can be so different, but that isn't a enough reason to leave it, it still is a nice one. I can give that party finder a try, I guess I forgot about that one. Looking at the pf list there now, not a lot of people seem to use it, but I guess that's just another thing with my online times.

Should just let this topic die. No matter how much they whine, complain, bleeding heart, tears flow to rivers, thing will not change. Ishgard will be gate by MSQ.

If ppl are sooooo care about new players, you can begin to make a LS and carry them though MSQ so they can quickly go to Ishgard.
If you want to get your alt to Ishgard to BOT or w/e reason, you can begin to do MSQ now, it is only 6h +- depend on your queue time.

Many people did not or are not doing this for many reasons not least of which is the fact that unless you actually LOOK REALLY HARD for this bit of info Sqaure is not going out of its way to tell you about it.



They are basically trolling any newcomers and even older players, players that never finished the story or have no desire to "I know people who have said to me they have no desire to finish the story" MASSIVELY. I played a lot of mmo's over the years and I can honestly say I've NEVER seen an mmo go so friggin far out of it's way to just give their player base such a massive middle finger as this game. If the gameplay itself wasn't so much fun coupled with the fact that better mmo's have yet to be released in NA "Looking at you Black Desert!" I would have already dropped it. But im here for now and i'm ready for the fireworks to come.

SE has not gone out of their way to hide this info It's your fault if you choose not to read the big red letters they use to tell u to clear the main story. SE has repeatedly given this info out verbally and in written format. If you are waiting for a personal call from Yoshi P then gl with that.
Tell your pals to log into lodestone and check the live letters or go to the HW site to get the official information. It's No rumor or secrete. Now my question is. Why play a mmo produced by a franchise that puts out games that are story driven then get mad at the producers for making you go through the story? Everyone complaining about gated content. This is no fps where u can pick up game 5 in a series and jump into online multiplayer games with little to no trouble at all. I get the excitement to get to the new content but why all the special snowflakes thinking that they should not have to do content directly tied to you stepping foot in the new lands? Also SE is setting the ARR content up to give u guys way more xp To help u guys level much quicker and that's not enough for you guys. Try coming into 2.0 from 1.0 with every job 50 then having to go and and do every single class and job quest again. Try going through the growing pains many of us have gone through since we started playing. This i want something for nothing mentality is insulting. Don't want to do the story? Cancel your preorder or cancel your sub but stop complaining about something that has been in FFXIV since day 1. U progress through content by going through the story. Deal with it or keep it moving.

I personally would like a little flexibility on this (maybe not having to finish all the patch content, but only the original 2.0 MSQ)....I have a number of friends who just started playing recently and are still working on the MSQ. It takes a long time if you just started.

Because you did it even though you didn't want to because you wanted to access the new content.

Which is what every one will do new and old player alike so thank you ( claps ) for showing it won't be a problem also people saying that the exp from 2.0 main story will be boosted and that new people get priority in duty finder will help the new players.

And to the people who only gather and craft and don't do any other stuff to the alts who just want an easier time. Too bad suck it up and do the work if you like this game then work for your rewards.

Exactly, they've just started. They'll want to enjoy the game, not rush it and get bored of it faster.

Personally, I'm rather dismayed at how SE has constantly made older content less relevant and so much easier. In an MMO, most of the fun is in the journey. Let's face it, once you hit level 50 there won't be much else to do besides grind the same handful of dungeons an indefinite amount of times to earn tomes for gear. What would be the point to grinding your way through the game just to get to Heavensward? You'd essentially be starting a brand new MSQ, which was precisely what you were planning to avoid in the first place!

I really don't understand this desire to skip half the game and only play the high level stuff. Honestly, the high level stuff is pretty boring compared to lower levels. At least you have a clearly defined goal while you're levelling and an entertaining dialogue along the way.

No. This is a "your ability to step foot in Ishgard is directly tied to what u did as an adventurer in the story " mentality. So yeah! If we had to progress the story by doing the story, why shouldn't you?

This will be an undeniable problem 7 years down the line. Imagine a new player having to spend a year doing 1000 story quests before they get into the latest expansion? There would be no new players in the latest expansion at all.
