You say that as if everything in WoW doesn't lead to raiding.

So a group of players get to bind us in heavy chains and make themselves the albatross around our necks? Furthermore, to get good isn't necessarily a call for them to play to my level but a level that doesn't make me suspect they are bots with their level of not playing in a normal manner. Please enjoy Final Carry 14: a Bad Being Bad.
Please, get your twitter attitude away.
If you don't want to carry your own weight, then it's You who should be playing small indie games. First of all - It's an MMO. Want it or not, you'll still have to play with others. If you don't want to do even the bare minimum, then you simply don't respect others and it's not nice, you know. People didn't pay to play for you. Second - no one is asking you to perform at Ultimate level play. I have no idea what the "personal standards" you're talking about there, but being a bot and doing nothing but afk sniffing flowers is totally not fine.
Pretty much what happened in the latest WoW expansion, they decided to pander to the raid or die mentality and all the insecure people whose self worth is based on video game achievements so casual content was completely gutted and worthless.
The best casual gear people can get is literally 226 which is normal raid ilvl that is 26 ilvls below the base mythic that is 252, oh i forgot, you can upgrade that 226 into a 233 3 MONTHS FROM NOW because it unlocked at renown 75 and 233 is still a worthless normal raid ilvl which would again be 26 ilvls below the highest mythic ilvl that is 259. I already have a 252 weapon week 3 of the patch and will mostly have 240+ items from m+ so all that casual content is completely trash for me so any kind of other activity other than m+ or raid is a waste of time so there's nothing else to do.
They are so scared to give casual content that is rewarding because people whose ego depends on video games will no life and whine they are forced to do "dirty inferior casual content" like torghast instead of being allowed to just raidlog and m+ and ignore the rest of the game because the truth is they dont play the game because they like the game design, they play it because their self worth depends on video game achievements, video games designed to be beaten and make you feel that way to begin with but many gamers have never realized that.
I am thankful that SE has consistently ignored elitists in that manner and instead focuses on providing a great experience for all, because we see what happens when devs focus solely on the high end and ignore casual content.
I don't how I feel about this to be honest. When you start the game as a new player you are asked if you want to visit the job guide for your class and you have the guide assigned to your action bar. The problem is not with the game not teaching enough. As long as you can read English and willingness to learn how to play you should be fine. What you are asking for is higher community standards regarding gameplay.
I am merely talking about the natural end point of what happens when the devs pander to elitist players whose ego depends on video game achievements and how that pretty much destroys a game and makes it terrible for most casual players.
Something thankfully the SE devs seem to know by observing WoW and its terrible elitist community so they know not to make the same mistakes and pander to elitists.
So you are again relying solely on second-hand information.
Again, 800+ runs M+, mostly PuGed. Your vague second-hand information. Why should I credit what you think you know about content that by your admission you refuse to participate in, over my 5 years of actually playing the content in question?
And no, parsing is not a unique trigger for toxicity. I've seen numbers brought up exactly thrice without a prior request for them (from those playing without addons who want to know how they did). Two of those were merely to ask if the recent nerfs were excessive (to Fire, and later to Boomie), as part of friendly banter. But even the one Mage who went off on one of the other DPS didn't do so because of his numbers, but because the other DPS was failing mechanics and not using his utility.
It seems like a fair portion are taking this preconception of a "toxic WoW community" as license to, themselves, be irresponsible, insular, and uncaring, and then blame "the community" for what they, themselves, sow.
Don't want others treating you poorly? Then treat them well in turn. That includes taking the effort to be prepared, be that in terms of gear, knowledge, or skill. It won't always be reciprocated, but if my experience has gone well over so large a sample size and yours so poorly, maybe we are the critical factors there.
No one's asking SE to focus solely on the high end and ignore the casual.
All people have been asking for in this thread for SE to put something into the game that would encourage players to play better on average.
There may be disagreements on the degree of improvement that's needed or exactly how to put that into the game, but most people don't disagree that SE could do something to increase the average skill level of players.
