Yeah, DPS are easily replaceable in this game - I should know, I main one. That doesn't mean people should have the attitude of "if they dont do what i want them to do, kickem"; I myself am prone to rather embarrassing mistakes in faceroll content because I stopped paying attention long long ago (I got every DPS and every healer, and almost all tanks to level 60 - I'm rather apathetic at this point whenever I see people deliberately screwing with me when I tank. And yes, DPS deliberately screwing with Tanks are all-too-common).
IMO, you did the right thing by leaving, Masquerade. You willingly took penalty because your enjoyment of the content in that very case was greatly diminished by some hell-bent lancer (scowls, I'm a DRG main). I'd rather leave in that case than start a full-blown argument even after you told them to stop, and I would certainly not be mad had I been in that party; seeing as one of the only full-blown arguments I had in this game was in the Vault, as AST, with a newbie PLD who wore 120 gear, did not dodge a single thing, did not even ATTEMPT to hold aggro, and after we predictably wiped to Charibert 4 times they told me to "heal, you idiot". That was the one single time I absolutely and completely went NUCLEAR on someone because we had not wiped a single time before that due to me keeping the DPS who plucked aggro off me alive, as well as our more than terribad tank. I didn't leave, I growled at the TV and attempted, until after the 10th try I initiated a Vite Abandon because there was no way we'd clear that, ever, due to Mr 120-Dodging-Is-For-Babies bleeding my MP reserves absolutely dry before we even reached the post-Balls phase of the fight. I apologised to the DPS before that, and they just attempted to soothe my nerves because they saw how I did 120% (ha) and it still wasn't enough. I was in a bad mood for DAYS. I should've left then, and I still regret to this day that I didn't just hit that Leave button and went to pet my bunnies for that half an hour of penalty time (kicking newbies from instances is an absolute no-go for me).
Tanks who demands others to do as they say are IMO the absolute worst. Maybe the healer's not comfortable with DPSing. Maybe the DPS are still learning their rotation properly and screw up a little - best thing to do is offer advice if they accept it (my friend and I as tank and healer taught a baby SMN and a NIN I think some basics about their classes in post 50 content in Sohm Al. From rather bumpy it suddenly turned into one of the smoothest, most fun Sohm Al runs I've had while levelling PLD).
Tanks being in demand does not mean they are absolutely and totally required to stay if someone deliberately screws with 'em. There are those who prevail, but you can usually see their enjoyment whittling down, unless they've reached apathy nirvana like one of my friends. Seriously, tearing aggro off him is like bringing down the Chinese Wall, and he doesn't really care and just picks the mob back up.
Anyway, I dunno why this derailment happened, Masquerade was absolutely correct in their decision to not bother with a terrible run due to a lancer having a **** attitude over them using Protect (who even CARES, I say, narrowing my eyes every time a PLD insists on using Protect after I had used it already. In their case, however, the Heal hadn't used Protect, so I won't bat an eyelash).
Back on topic, the quest to Grandmaster of War with Warrior led me to Dragon's Neck today. I froze in terror, because that trial is usually the epitome of terribad for me. Other than Typhon pushing me around lots because I never tanked him before, we downed it in one go. How come the tanking class I like least always gets me into the smoothest, most enjoyable instances of content I normally dread? What kinda shenanigans is Chaos up to these days, what the... -

I don't know whether to cry about this or not.
My boyfriend (WAR), his brother (NIN), and I (SCH) 3 manned Titan. When Titan has about 10ish % HP, I got Goal (for the 5th time). My boyfriend broke me out just as Landslide popped. Fortunately for him, he got out in time. Unfortunately for me, I fell off.
He then just laughed at me saying "never seen you fall off in Titan HM. Lmfao oops my bad."
But they two manned Titan and beat him on the last 10% -

I cannot agree anymore with the mentality that if you are a tank and you feel that you are being treated unfairly or that you do not think you can continue playing with a group, you are free to leave if you so wish. It sucks for the group, I've been there. But if you are unhappy playing and tanking for this group than you are under no obligation to continue doing so. I've had DPS who will pull more than I am up to in runs where they are completely backed up by the healer. When I say something to the effect of "Please don't pull more than what I am feeling up to" and you decide to disrespect that? That is grounds for leaving. Just as when a healer is uncomfortable with how a tank pulls or a DPS. Do not kick someone unless they are actually harassing you, I'll take my penalty no matter what class I am in. I've had to deal with tanks who became a harassing troll once I told him to please not point boss x way and kill us or please move the add this way because where you put it buffs the add. Continued to harass us to get us to kick him so we did even though I hated having to be able to give him that kick without a penalty. Kicked and once was able, reported.
You are not a doormat. No you do not have to make everyone submit to your demands but there's no reason for you to take any unfair treatment. If the others don't speak up, they are just as complicit in that bad behavior. -

Like when I'm in a run and the tank drops, I will drop and reque as tank. Yes, I end up in the same party every time I did it. Unless someone in my FC or LS can tank it for me. So its not just relying on someone to que, but its for the party members to maybe ask their friends for help.Quote:

I usually have a LOT of patience as a tank with others honestly. I've stuck it out in groups way past the point of it being fun anymore, but that was my own personal choice to do so. But even I have had to strong arm a few times as a tank and just sit back and wait. Past the 1st few dungeons, it's not reasonable for DPS to try to clear dungeons anymore without a tank. Unless everyone is very much on point, they won't get past bosses tankless. But if they are that good, USUALLY they aren't the type of a-hats that would piss off their tank in the first place.
