and dont forget when it comes to gaming and doing modeling/animation you got a polycount you are limited by. A lot of the vocal minority probably dont have too much knowledge in the 3d modeling field for gaming which is why their are so many complaints. But its good to see some people have some knowledge if not experience to know :)

Honestly i love the new race They are unique and new. They look nothing like a reskinned cat girl. Also in all my years of gaming ive NEVER seen something like this.

I love the new race aswell, the female looks like a younger Elezen, which is something that I wanted since the introduction of the twins. I saved up my Fantasia and can not wait untill they are released.

I can't wait for the Au Ra to be available. I doubt I'll change my Miqo'te but I'll definitely start a new character as one. I just hope the females don't end up really tall like the elezen. Yugiri isn't too tall so I don't think I have to worry too much, though.

I'm confused. Wut is it about FF arr that you all think is so snowflake special that making some basic things seen in many other MMOs is somehow more of a unique problem here that deserves defending?

Again, I'm taken back to GW2 ... a B2P game that doesn't have a sub and didn't expect to have the same cash flow as a sub game yet was still able to make an entire race of people made outta plaints with leaf/ bark/ flower/ grass textures as well as glow-in-the-dark patterns on whats otherwise a mostly human model. The race is called Sylvari ... a race that underwent a total redo AFTER it was officially revealed because the team thought "hmmmm, it's boring to leave em looking like pointy eared green people".

And what did players get? A race with tons of diversity and interesting designs. Same for the lil race, the Charr and even the Norn have body tattoos.

Though I focus on game animation I know modeling and texturing ... and I can say that textures surely shouldn't effect animation. In fact, even model changes shouldn't effect animation as long as it's within an acceptable range (meaning that, yeah, we should be able to have more body shape options for all races as well as any model changes to this race still being able to use the same animations). So now that that's outta the way, yeah, it mainly lands on the texturing and modeling departments to do the beasty bits if they add em in ... but SE aint a small company, they have tons of people working in their art department full time so I'm still wondering why people choose to be so defensive over their use of money and man power.
