As I state on every one of these threads.. CHEMIST with Elemental Pistols. :)
first we must think like the deve team, like they had said, they need to find an utility at the class/jobs they will add.
while thinking about this i was wondering, why not break the trinity?
before start to troll me let me finish.
we know that actually class like bard feel cheated when they see them limit break (and i think is true), why not add a fourth role to the roster? giving us:
- Tank
- Heal
- Dps
- Support
i think it will give them more possibility by doing this.
Piling on more support for Red Mage and Ninja...
Bring in the Puppetmaster pls!
Since we have necromaner...
How about a summoner?
Oh I have a few xD
Time Mage - Probably my favorite class since it messes with all sorts of stats + Gravity/Comets! (Branches off to Oracle/Sage or Dark Knight maybe?)
Blue Mage - It's just fun to use monster attacks right back at your foes xD (4+ level 2/3 Hunting logs completed)
Sage - I really liked their advanced and mixed spell set ( Scholar + Blackmage )
Illusionist - It might be cool to see huge AoE spells that actually only cover your screen ( thus Illusional Damage lol )
Lady Luck/Trickster - Tossing the dice and attack with cards? Yes please, begin the gambling!
Mascot - Playing as a Huge Stuffed Mog or Cactuar or Tonberry or Chocobo or.... (nuff said) (Have over 20 minions maybe?)
Chocobokniiiiiiiiiiight - Because.. yeah... Chocobos :D! ( Chcobo level 5 required :D)
And probably a lot more but I'll look forward to any new job - seriously we need way more DoM!
Loved the Samurai in XI, so hoping we will see them again in XIV. :)
Gimme my Thief, Corsair, Ninja and Dancer! Red Mage would be fanciful too.
But plz don't muck up THF and RDM like you did in XI. My heart couldn't take it. =/
Dark Knight - or some version of a 2hand dps class.
Ninja
Red Mage
Blue Mage
Grand Wizard:
Class when reaching WMG/BMG/SCH lvl 50
The ultimate Mage class.
Something simular for DPS & Tank.
Time mage.
Gravity 1 - does more damage the higher the HP the mob has. Once the enemy reaches 50% it does meh damage.
Gravity 2 -DOT that does more damage the closer the enemy is to 50% HP. Does meh dmg below 25% Use with gravity 1 80% and lower.
Gravity 3 - does more damage the lower the mob's HP, does ok damage at 50%(more than gravity one does at 50%), and ramps up doing a lot more the closer the enemy is to dying. Use with gravity 2 until the enemy is below 10% then forget gravity 2 and spam this with your instants and channeled spell
Stop - consumes your gravity 2 on a target. Your gravity 2 does all of it's damage instantly(as in the entire duration of a fresh gravity 2) + 150 potency and does more damage the less time left on gravity 2.
Vortex - draws in nearby enemies to the enemy it was cast on, holding them in place and doing decent AOE damage to them.
Float - makes the enemy float in the air, removing it from combat. Basically sleep.
Reflect - all alies within 30 yards of you gain a shield, makes the next attack on them miss and do 20% of the dmg back to the attacker, capping at 2% of the enemies max health(total, so 8 people reflect will be 2% or 1 person will be 2%). 10-15 min CD
Alter time - Alter the fabric of time, causing the caster to return to their current location, HP, MP, buffs, and debuffs, when cast a second time, or after 6 sec.
Effect negated if the caster dies within the 6 sec before the effect occurs or moves too far away.
Old - channeled nuke that quickly ages the target(flavor) and does more damage the longer you chaannel and builds up time mages reset stacks
Reset - resets the CD on comet, banish, <unnamed spell> at 3 stacks(1 stack is -30% CD 2 is -60%) restores 15/30/45% of your total MP, need to weave in Old + this + gravity(1-3 depending on enemies hp) for max DPS Does not reset reflect
Comet, banish, <unnamed spell> - instant cast nukes on 2-3 min cooldowns, need to manage with Reset for max DPS.
Teleport - can teleport forward 30 yards on a 30 second cooldown, breaks stuns and binds.
Hastega - doesn't give attack speed increase or spell haste or skill haste but instead gives nearby party members a x% chance to autoattack 2-3 times for X amount of seconds. 2-5 min CD
Beastmaster,FFxi style,no easy charms,no WoW hunter clone.
Puppetmaster could totally branch off PUG! :<
That said, classes/jobs I want to see are
Musketeer > Ranger & Corsair (maybe even switch it up and have a Gunblade class. Seeing as how Arcanist can go from DPS to healing, could have a ranged DD go to a ranged/melee hybrid.)
Rouge > Thief & Ninja
Spellsword > Red Mage & Blue Mage
Wouldn't mind seeing Samurai, Templar, Mystic/Rune Knight and/or Geomancer.
I played ffxi and SAM NIN were awesome
Some CC in this game would be nice and Time Mage to Astrologer for Job would fulfill that role nicely. Yeah I'm old school like that. Shout out to Olan Durai!!
Lol they have a Summoner already albeit a poor one. Though a change of 'summons' would be good. Maybe they should re-introduce Espers. Dumb them down slightly so they are OP but give summoners the espers from say FF12. I say this because the primary summons from the rest of the titles are primals so that wouldn't work out so well.
Say you are running a four-man. You have a tank, healer, DPS and a support class like for example a Time Mage. Think on it like this: you and your party are on last boss in dungeon and you know that this fight is known to produce large amounts of adds. Well a support class like a Time Mage can CC those adds. Not only does it help keep unnecessary healing aggro from occurring on the healer but it also gives the tank and dps a break as well. This is especially helpful if the boss is already unloading heavy amounts of damage on the tank and the healer needs to focus 98 percent of his or her attention to them alone using the BIG HEALS as it were. The dps has to burn down the adds but even they can bare only so much so the crowd control allows for them to pick off one at a time without the risk of dying.
Samurai and Dark Knight for sure!
alternate roles for the classes that don't have them yet (everything but arcanist)
marauder -> berserker (dps)
gladiator -> dark knight (dps)
lancer -> templar (tank)
pugilist -> bouncer (tank)
conjurer -> geomancer (dps)
thaumaturge -> necromancer (healer?)
archer -> ranger (dps i guess?)
and I kinda assume they'll surprise us before long with musketeer -> corsair/something
would love to see blue mage though :s
時魔道士 Again, I say, Time Mage please!^^
Viking. It should be the next tank. Double Hammers or Axes as weapons. I think its only ever been in one other FF game.
DRK
MRD->DRK would be easy as MRD is basically already set up for regaining hp to offset the cost of Souleater. Just add in 2h greatswords/scythes as class specific DRK only weapons (kinda like the relic weapons are Job only weapons) and you're done.
There's already a specific FF name for that job. It's called "Sage".Quote:

I would love to see a class with the ability to dual-wield :)
Considering Astrologists are native to Ishgard, wouldn't it be better to have Astrologist as the class and Time Mage as the job?
I'm still not sure where Blue Mage enters all this. BLU is closer to a pure caster than RDM ever was, because it's entire gimmick was having access to monster skills in the form of magic. You could make BLU's weapon a stuffed animal or a rubber chicken and it would still be a Blue Mage so long as it can cast monster skills as magic.Quote:
Spellsword > Red Mage & Blue Mage
Actually, Blue Mages are frequently hybrids and generally pretty arbitrary. You're right to say that they are merely a job name for a gimmick, though. In 5, they could wield swords or generic caster weapons. 6, pure caster (Strago). 7, anyone and anything (Enemy Skill). 8, pretty much anything (Quistis LB). 9, fork (Quina). 10, lance (Kimahri). X-2, guns. 11, swords (scimitar). TA, swords (saber). TA2, swords (saber).
1. Beastmaster. This has amazing potential for replay value.
2. Blue Mage. Collecting spells with how easy travel is in this game? It would be really fun! There could possibly also be various types of Blue Mages...well...4....Ranged, Melee, Spellcaster, Healer. Would be awesome!
3. Ninja. Would be a very fun tank, expecially more fun than 11's. 11's was great, but spending 30k per exp group? [No thanks]
4. Samurai. We want it. We need it. Let's see it.
5. Green Mage. Buffs, Debuffs, +Heal Enhancement, -Physical Damage Resistance, -Elemental Resistance...which leads me to my next favorite..
6. Red Mage! We would have a buffer/debuffer with greenmage, but Red mage could EASILY be the master of Enfire, Enthunder, ect. Stack a green mage and a red mage in a group, and it could be sick.
These would be my favorite.
Blue Mage, please.
BLU.
The thrill of vengeance against an enemy by smashing its face in with its own ability was absolutely priceless.
Plus, I loved the whole Middle-Eastern warrior theme they had in XI.
Please and thank you.
Samurai, Holy Knight (I guess it would be a tank or dps (class from FFT, always loved those Sword spells!), Beast Master, Thief, red / Blue mage
This. There is a big hole that needs to be filled with tanks. Very few go WAR due to the massive damage they take. PLD is a good physical tank. We could use a good magical resistance / evasion tank. Ninja physical evasion. Dark Knight, magic barriers, magic defense. Rune fencer, magic evasion.
musketeer/red mage/monk tank
1. Samurai- DPS/Perry tank or Face to Face (think overwhelm merit ability from FF11) burst DPS! (give PLD a reason to use cover) and it would add a new layer to DPS as they all fight from side/back atm. Comes from Ronin uses Great Katana.
2. Thief- Dual wield daggers. Hate control with Sneak/Trick attack. High EVA and Treasure Hunter/Gil finder. Comes from Assassin. Fights from front/back/side.
3. Ninja- Dual wield short katana. Blink/EVA tank or High Crit/Elemental wheel DPS. Comes from Assassin. Fights from back/side.
Ninja as "action" tank based on rotation combo: 3 combo = more emnity and 2 shadows , 4 combo = 3 shadows and evasion boost with a passive and high processing instant cooldown on main abilities.blind debuff,defense debuff,elemental debuff.
Dancer! Really, that's it.
Ninja as an evasion/misdirection tank. Being able to leave a duplicate tank it and poof behind it or something like that.
Red Mage Elemental bullets and debuffs (not DoT but slows and paralysis etc.)
Chemist Healer DPS. Mix items (that are slowly gained over time) to either damage or heal. Mix a Ice Fang and a Mega Potion to make an ice resistance tincture that you place on your allies.
Well with how tp works in ffxiv compared ffxi Dancer would actually be quite the front line healer, I could see it taking abilities from lancer especially with envigorate. I personally would love Beastmaster and Blue Mage hell have them come from the same class too, beastmaster could control the mobs while blue mages learn from them would be pretty awesome. Have like tamer be the base class.
