Why are PC players being so stuck up to ps3 players?

Personally I think its because of the controller. I know some pc players use on also, but there's no way around it, its not as effecient as kb/mouse. I play on pc, and I've tried using a controller over and over (logitech rumblepad). Yes it is very comfortable to be able to sit back and play. But try healing with a controller. Can it be done? I'm sure someone on here is a pro with their controller, through GREAT effort. But the targeting with a controller is downright horrible. 3 people are standing in front of you, one of them needs to be healed. What are you going to do? Press the UP key to cycle to them? Then press the heal key? A pc player would press 1 key to heal them instantly. The ps3 is a limitation to the game in every way. The only good thing I can say about it is it brings a lot more players into the game.

This is just my opinion, but I also think the reason for the very long GCD in this game is to slow down combat and create a more level playing field for ps3 players. I don't hate on ps3 players, my girlfriend plays on a ps3. But it IS a limitation to the game.

Looking at the gear of a character who just hit 50 today in a new game, and extrapolating that ps3 players are equivalent to pc players is the argument of a clown. Funny though. *As an added note that made it more hilarious, you reference this toon not having finished the story, yet not having gear. lolololol.

Well this thread went from "nah man it's fine he was just a douche, not all PC gamers are like that" to "PS3 sucks!", "No, you suck!", "Na-uhh, you suck!", " No way, you suck more!", in record time.

Personally, while my FC will never discriminate against PS3 players, I can understand why some should.

1. Many healers who play on PS3 just can't seem to master their job. It is probably the difficulty in targeting, but there is a noticable difference in reaction time. This effects tanks to the same degree and dps to a lesser amount but it is still there.

2. Lack of voice chat. It is impossible in some fights to coordinate people without it.

I call BS on the whole thread! Some people play better on a PS3. Some play better on a PC. Some people will never play worth a damn. I use PC and PS3. I group play on PC only though because I understand I am not as adept with a controller as practiced console gamers. The "limitations" of a console are no better or worse then half the PCs used to play the game at this moment. PC and Consoles can coexist in this world. I promise you a PS3 will not try to murder your PC in the middle of the night. I leave mine together all the time and am expecting little mutant gaming machines any day now.

I'm sorry I didn't take time to read the whole thread before posting this, but here are a few practical solutions.

1. PS3 supports mouse and keyboard, so if you're willing to click spells you may play pretty much as well as PC players. The controller itself is quite OK for most purposes, however it's true that as a tank or healer, targeting is rather hard and unpractical, especially since you can't use mouse-over macros to heal quickly, or select a mob directly from the list as a tank, overall you loose precious seconds. I'm not saying some people can't perform with a controller on PS3 as well as on a PC with keyboard and mouse, but most will struggle to reach the same speed of reaction, and in any case it's much more stressful and intensive with a controller. The only limitation so far is that the PS3 client doesn't allow for typical keybinds, and just adding that feature would entirely solve the issue (SE if you're reading this...)

2. As for communication, if you own a smartphone or a tablet, voice chat apps do exist (Mumble, Ventrilo, Team Speak). I'd advise people to choose mumble since it's cheaper overall (open source software). We do that in our FC, and so far things are OK. We haven't tried much HL content yet, though.

Skipped through the thread, but this is a sentiment I share. While I don't use a controller myself (unless gathering), I have yet to be able to pick out a single player for being on the PS3 or using a controller. I had the perception that it would be clunky, or make the players subpar, but then I found out that one of the best tanks I currently know plays on the PS3 with controller, and has no issues with any aspects of the game.

Can't we just call out the idiots that fail at positioning regardless of which system they use? These guys are the real problem when it comes to end game.

I'll tell you why the PS3 is inferior, its a closed system that's it. it can use any HID device, if you dont know what that is it is simple, you plug it in and its recognized without using additional drivers(the system already has them.)
that being said any game that is properly coded for the PS3 will perform circles around a system of the era it was built in with the exception of high end gaming machines that cost 10 times that and many budget PCs just 3 years ago were still being outperformed by the PS3. these very PCs are the reason a lot of people got XIV for the PS3 because their PCs simply cant handle it

as for controller vs keyboard/mouse...its all in how you use them they are simply tools. and you will not be able to tell which system a good player is on unless they tell you

as for which is better.
well the typical desktop PC is better due to its expandability. but that still does not excuse that blaming a system/tools on bad players is exactly what many of you are doing in this thread.

Sadly, the only difference here is that at least most fighting game players, on either side, will accept it once they've been shown. But you succeed with a gamepad in a PC game, and nobody cares; they keep spouting nonsense and pretend you're lying or don't exist. Fun times! I know what you mean. I can nail certain Links(SFIV) on a pad, but on a Stick, I can nail them all day.

I'm on ps3, with a mouse and keyboard, yet I don't use it :P
I type with the keyboard but play with the controller. I'm quick at selecting allies and enemies when situations call for it, and I find it easier to move around with the control.
There's some drawbacks with trying to select a single guy out of a million in a FATE, but mostly I'll just focus on my party and keeping them alive. If I'm not healing you in a FATE, party with a white mage. We're far more useful that way ^^

The draw back with the number of people on a screen at once can be a slight delay, but never when it matters.

PS 3 Gamers are not comparable to PC players and the shoudent be on the same server, PS 3 Players cant really keep up with PC player in movement, tanking/healing etc... you see it in amador keep if you have a tank with a PS 3, he has a hard time holding aggro cant avoid stuff etc...Also i understand companies that says i dont want PS 3 Players in my raid, i also dont want them.

I've seen a lot of hate towards PS3 players, and things like "how could you possibly tank/heal on the PS3!?". Funny really, most people don't know I'm on PS3 until I mention it and then they're all surprised. And to the people who say you can't possibly do all this on a PS3... you do realise that a lot of PC players use a controller right? Yea sure PC gets 1 or 2 more hot bars but let me tell you if you really know what you're doing you don't need any more hot bars. PC players like that are just afraid of the PS3 because they cannot possibly accept PS3 as a viable gaming platform, cause of course PC=CHAMPION!!!11111

yet again a load of arrogance, you are blaming the PS3 for bad players, you will not be able to tell a good player is on the PS3 unless they tell you. that is a fact

I'll bet you a good portion of these bad players are on the PC not the PS3

you probably think I'm on the PS3 because I'm defending it as a platform but I'm not, your argument is full of holes a gaming PC does not make a good player. a bad player will be a bad player nomatter what you put them on and you will still try to blame the PS3 for it

Yoshida: Yes, of course. I think it would be very sad indeed if say a player with the PS3 version invited a friend to play with them but they could not do so because that friend happened to have the PS4 version. So I really do believe that whatever hardware is being used, all players should be able to play together across platforms.
I think that splitting the community down into different segments is something that we should avoid, even if it may look like it makes for a temporary business success. I am incredibly grateful to Sony for making this kind of cross-platform play possible.

Its ok if you have a other opinion than me, and you can tell if they are on PC or PS3. Look at ESO the are splitting PC Gamers from Consoles, they know why the do it. Also im sure there good players in the PS3 but they are not the mayority they are a really really small minority

I actually don't think people have fully considered something. The Japanese almost exclusively play on PS3, due to PC gaming not really getting anywhere out there and consoles being the dominant market for a long time, yet they never seem to have these so called problems that die-hard PC gamers say PS3 has. Yes FATES are an issue but that's being looked into and also affects people playing on low end PC's. That is the only issue however and every other "issue" only affects the players view of the game, and only in regards to graphics etc which does not effect actual gameplay. Latency issues are not down to the PS3, and never will be.

controllers work differently on PC client than the PS3 cilent so im geting the impression, I have both PC and PS3 versions and targeting is very different, healing is easy and if you cant press up and down twice or even thrice quickly to select a target then you have to work on your reaction times and you Premt healing/moving. basically it rolls down to personal preferance

Well by your example, lets say you need to heal someone that 2 players away from you.

ps3 = Up + up + healbutton
pc = Heal button

the reaction time there is no comparison

The only thing I can see doing on the ps3 that would compare, is making a targeting macro for each player in your party. So say pressing L+up would heal player 1, L+left player 2 ect. But having to actually target each player by pressing a button, and then pressing another button to do whatever action it is you're doing, is a handicap

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (PS3) added 11,479 pre-orders for a grand total of 128,628. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 175,000 to 225,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 500,000 units and 700,000 units lifetime in the US.

And that's just USA sales...I think maybe, juuuust maybe, there are more out there than you think :) Also, still looking for PC figures, so we'll see if I get burned by numbers here pretty soon xD.

i play on ps3 and i have no lag when the whole "pc party" im with is failing out hard cause they lag out in an AoE you cant say someone isnt good because of what they play on or what is better. and honestly telling a ps3 player they cant join your FC is gunna bite you in the arse in the long run. but you pc master race folk can eat it anyway ;P know plenty of nice pc guys and gals i can play with all day. and MMOs shouldnt be segregated. we are past that

This entire thread is people spouting various "Facts" and not a single one of them has backed up any of it with anything substantial. Reading this thread makes me feel dumber because I actually end up thinking about the stuff people say here. All claims made in this thread about efficiency and skill and all of it are based on personal perception, anecdotes, and assumptions.

This whole argument about controls not being responsive enough when you're using a controller is really subjective.
I mean, I'm a PC gamer and I really hate controllers, so yes, I'm going to perform better with a mouse and keyboard. But my friend, who is a die-hard console gamer, really kicks ass with his controller and could probably teach the average/casual PC user a thing or two. Put him behind a keyboard and mouse though, and he's going to suck.

So can we just drop the prejudices and enjoy the actual game? Who cares what control scheme that guy in your team is using? As long as he is nice and does what he's supposed to do, it doesn't matter, does it? We don't have to be asses about it.

I know many players on the Pc that uses the xbox controller and mouse , Kb just like the PS3 can do, Only thing different is voice chats , PS3 It just got a horrible system for voice chats. Maybe PS4 be better, You are hundred time better to use voice chat programs , xbox,skype,mumble,vent, or the other half dozen raid voice chat programs on your pc , with a wired xbox control and mic plug into the control , 99% of the voice chat programs will work on the xbox control with mic , will plug and play on. The Future of online gaming and mmo is voice chats. Bigger then many understand. Just find right people and You will hear a entire new world. Deaf people there great at typing and they can keep up. They understand how deal with that great.

I think this is a troll thread to start a community war. Just sayin...
