well the event sure but I think they taking a break for golden week and might be reason for the delay

I don't think they're destroy Grid, and don't want them too. Its my starter city and I think its beautiful. But The Black Shroud could use some restructuring. I'd like it to be more open to exploration and less mazey.
I think this fits in with the storyline that the Astral age of peace is ending and a new Umbral age is beginning. Using the great unrest that an Umbral age brings as a backdrop, the developers will tear down and rebuild areas and cities. This will also take away the "peaceful" feeling the game has and bring about the "Final Fantasy feel" that Yoshi-P wants.
I really think the Garleans aren't the bad guys and we will join with them at some point. I think they are just trying to prevent something from happening to save their people, probably from the Umbral Era from occurring and we will see our true enemy soon.
I think if we become friends with the empire it might be after we defeat and oust its current ruler.....
There was a JP character I was lurking on the lodestone and he had the egg cap on in his pic that the Uldah npc has, so the NM and this wanderer must have something to do with obtaining the better hats, AT least I know they can be obtained.
they have nothing to do with the wanderer.... go out explore and find the NM spriggans that are carrying the unigue eggs you need for the other hats.... they are in camp area, the white hat spriggans in uldah area are near golden bazaar, midnight cap egg spriggans are in copperbell, brilliant caps nophica wells. I don't yet or care to much about the r20 cap. but you get the chocobo hat from the NPC runaway spriggan thats in the farthest back room of Mines.
I hate to be a buzz kill, but then what do you think will happen to the already implemented story missions? If the world is changed, how are they going to execute this correctly? Without giving too much away, the story missions progress though giving you signs that the age is coming, especially at the very end.
If the world is gutted due to the war in the Umbral age, it will not be cohesive when starting your character anew. In order to implement this change, they might need to have two separate maps. The continent in the astral age and the continent in the umbral age which would segregate the newer players from the more experienced and most progressed through the story.
This also could be a message that hints that the grand companies will be implemented very soon too and, although very possible.. don't get me wrong, not the redesign of the zones.
Who knows! The possibility of either or both are very exciting also, the thought of how exactly they are going to go about them.
Very true, however I kinda get the feeling that what they are doing with the story is more for our benefit to explain things that they are changing. Kinda hard to explain but basically I think come the "relaunch" (when they think it's good enough to pay for possibly PS3 release) they will have already restructured all the story missions and things, so they won't see any of this stuff when they start. Kind of like we are in a prequel of sorts to the actual game so we get to experience the changes to the lands and the story of how and why it happened but for new players it will have already happened.
I only played WoW on the trial while the servers where down because of the earthquake but did Cataclysm bring something similar? My LS friends who joined me who had played before were telling me "oh this is different" and "it wasn't like this before" but to me never having played it before it just all seemed normal.
In an interview with Yoshi P. they asked him what he thought FFXIV 1 year anniversary would bring and he said it would be when new players and old players would return and current players would tell them that all this stuff has happened and we need to save the world, something like that anyway. I kinda get that this is what he was hinting at.
Hey I found the interview maybe what I said may make more sense now ^^
That is what got me thinking that way.Quote:
ZAM: September will be the one-year anniversary of Final Fantasy XIV. How do you envision the state of the game one year after launch?
Yoshida: When new players and old players come back, we want to make sure it's not stressful. There will be solid tutorials and an easy user interface so when new players come in, or older players come back, they won't have that stress of coming into the game.
We also want to have a big goal for the players. Something that when they come into the game they know they've got to do this and they can get with other players and aim for that goal, which will be focusing around this danger that is approaching Eorzea. The players can get together and feel like they have to fight to save the world. That big goal will be there and ready for everyone.
I want players who are already in the game to be able to say that something big is happening and tell players who quit that they need to come back in to help save the world. It will give players still in the game something that they can give to players that have quit to give them a reason to come back.
That's what Final Fantasy is supposed to be.
honestly, i dont think this is about drastic changes to maps, its probably about companies, or the new dungeons, etc. So i dont think we will have to worry about changing the main storyline too much. It would be cool if they did have that type of dynamic world, love to be wrong about that.
Hopefully they were listening to feedback early on and made the new dungeons and monsters we're going to get soon more dynamic than the current game. As long as they add in new content to fill up the empty world from here on out that is done right, this game will continue to head in a good direction.
Well the world is changing for sure, we know this because Yoshi said he's changing the maps a little especially Black Shroud...me personally, I don't think those changes will be drastic enough to the point where they have to redo the cutscenes or anything...at least the way I see it is they will change a lot of the areas that have nothing to do with how the main storyline is laid out right now because otherwise it would be way too much work. Either way, whatever they do I hope the shroud is better than it is now, I especially hate the long transition regions (like from Gridania to Emerald or Bentbranch to Tranqil - my god what the heck where they thinking...).
Hopefully stats will be fixed by then, cause I am tired of doing crap damage. It'll really kill my mood if they add all this cool stuff, and I can't feel powerful.
Must be a WoWhead and never played XI. This is FF the damage is fine, as it is for the world, we arent suppose to one shot anything unless its 10+ level mobs under us. We are suppose to feel the challenge and that we are a small part in this massive world. If I wanted to go out and hit a mob with my hands for 300+ damage I would go play wow.... FFXI and XIV is made to be a challenge and need strategy not zerg it down with massive all powerful damage.
I am not a fan of wow. But if you think doing 20 damage to NMs is fine, then what kind of MMOs do you play, where wizard-types do crap damage with high intelligence? Or hit 0 a mob that could be significantly less than you. As for XI I played it, Ancient Magic spells took 10 seconds to cast and did decent damage. Tier II AM were better. This games takes 45 seconds to do the same exact damage as Tier Is, and you think damage is fine?
And IT goblins can be two shot these spells at level 50, may not be a one-shot but close enough.
Well in regards to the 20 damage to NM's they have a massive VIT pool it seems have HUGE HP pool and I mean they are to be TOUGH so yes I expect to do less damage to an NM version of a basic mob. I just hate that the HP pool is so huge on a midrange NM....
What are you're jobs anyway? Conjurer is more of the DD/Healer than Thm being a debuffer/healer. Thm can easily out damage Con in a matter of seconds. I did 1.2k with Shadowsear chainspelled to Great Buffalo, and did it again for the same exact amount. I should be doing 1k with all my spells, I am build my character to toss out that kind of damage.
By the time you could that with Tier IIs or Ancient Magic spells: Shadowsear is already up again possibly.
Pugilist is my job so expecting myself to do quick small damage. and all the con/thm I know and play with do a shit ton of damage.
What rank are you? What rank are you Con/Thm friends? How much damage do they do against regular mobs/NMs. If they do as much as you say ask them what their stats are? Gear they are wearing?
My stats:
46 Con/Thm Int-145 Mind/Piety-105 Still working on trying to get enough points for muscle memory I and II. I use Velveteen Hat Rob, Halfgloves, Velveteen kecks, with Magic Acc rings, with Vintage Cudgel +1 and Jaded Crook. All my elemental stats are 85 I believe, minus ice it's 84.
At 33 I did 500-800 damage with Thunder II two a 40+ black eft. I have used all my elemental spells against great buffalo, none do anymore to him than the other, even with magic defense down battle regiment.
At 46 I do roughly the same damage to anything in Broken Water except if it's a leve. Then I do around 200-400. 500 If I am lucky.
Feel free to burn the forest down by all means SE. *hands over a torch* I won't tell. >_>
As a conjurer if you want to see BIG NUMBARZ on NMs, participate in battle regimens. Throw a spirit dart on top of a phys defense debuff to get the magic defense debuff. Then throw a spell with profundity on the very top of a WS regimen. We've seen 1k+ regularly, reaching as high as 3.5k.
Why is everyone so anti-Gridania? =( I can understand the mazelike grounds of the Black Shroud are certainly tedious at times, but the desert-y terrain of Thanalan, and the constant ranch-by-the-sea grounds in La Noscea are too. I"m sure we've all felt the effects of it. The best thing to do is find the beauty that you didn't notice before or just simply ignore it and move on to your destination. =p My point is all areas have some tediousness to them. ^-^; and though I agree that the Black Shroud's can sometimes feel like the worst, doesn't mean Gridania needs to burn! D=
Also, I playfully went around some of the camps last night in the Black Shroud and I didn't see anything odd. I'm really not sure what to think of all this. =/
Still agree with the statement wait till next week, or due to golden week, wait till the 9th.
I'd love the world to change because of the umbral age, but no matter how you look at it... it's a huge undertaking. The only reason why I say this is to point out that no one should expect this any time soon. Should just take this along with the new side quests that were implemented recently about Grand Companies. Everyone is seeing signs of the age coming and are starting to prepare.
I mostly read this message as the age is about to be here and that grand companies will be making their way into the game very soon.
I still think it's a possibility, lets face it they haven't been doing nothing all this time. They have different teams working on different things and what we have seen so far is not everything they have ready. I really think that they may surprise us, obviously they can't do anything until the battle system is ready so we are waiting on the Battle team to finish that up and we have no idea the extent to what they have done but they have obviously been working on it for a while.
What about the other teams, the map designers they could have been working on the redesign this whole time, the team that do the quests and story have obviously been working on something too, they all have been working on things and we have not seen the fruits of their labour yet, well I hope not as if that is the case then I would be very disappointed in the amount of work they have put in for how big the team is.
I am very interested in Battle System, round 3. I hope as the saying goes 3rd time is the charm. I hate button mashing... I know the battle system changes are going to take a few updates. I just hope the Auto attack comes in the first update.
Can you show me a video of that, I can't believe that considering I have done that before. And what are you stats and equipment? If you can show me a video of you doing 1k damage regular with a conjurer spell, not shadowsear, using profundity II and timing it perfectly to land at the top of a Battle Regiment I ill believe you.
I don't have a video but I can say as a pug a normal victimize 1 I would do 80(NM)-500(normal mob) but when I put it in a WS battle regime with spells in it I am doing 1k-3k damage victimize.
*edit* Also one of my friends and NM LS leader is a gladiator tank, leveling con at the moment he is 48 con, and he in TANK gear not mage gear, dealed solo (since the rest of us were 1 shot dead lol) 30% damage to a Widowmaker which is 20+ levels over r50 as a mage. So I don't know what your gear/spec situation is, but I also think might need some more points in Piety. Oh and your a CON? and it looks like you have been evenly putting your ele stat points over all the ele's. Word of advice, as the developers said, if you evenly distribute ele points you will do mediocry damage, but if you lets say specific to 1 or 2 elements you will do more damage with those elements and might stick with those elemental spells.
Yeah on Archer I can throw out 2.5k with Quick Nock when thrown on top of a huge BR pretty easily and if our mage throws something on top of that then she can easily throw out the big numbers too.
Next time we fight something of interest I will throw it on a vid for you, if you want.
Burn Gridania Burn?
