trust me when i say this: it gets worse the higher you go.
at 50 some people simply have a tolerance level of zero. and i do not like those people.
so i agree with OP.

How is people not attacking what the tank attacks a PS3 issue? im not really sure why all the ps3 hate anyways. You should be smart enough to wait and see which mob's hp is being chipped away before going balls to the wall.
There is good and bad in this. But you can't expect everything too. If community is an issue for you ? Make friends! Constant drama & QQ about DF is more then annoying. Where is the community spirit ?
Give it some time. All the douche bag Elitists will be gone soon and move on to another MMO to turn the Community sour, this is how things in MMOs are sadly. People will act anyway they want on a MMO till they get in trouble for it or banned.
We were all new at some point, nobody jumped in here with maxed stats and full gear without earning it ( even the legacy had to start fresh in 1.0 ) , I know this, and everyone else should know this. Attacking people because they are new to the content you are currently doing is the dumbest thing ever , you were new to it also at some point. I run AK nice now, and don't mind running with new players to it. As a healer I kinda like it in a way as it brings a challenge to the plate. That being said, my first time in AK was terribly terrible on my behalf , but my team stuck with me even as the timer rolled to zero. Nobody called anyone names, they understood it was a first run.
They watched where I had problems and tried to point them out to me , it helped immensely. If I had just been yelled at and people raged out and quit, where would that have got me?It would have kept me in the no knowledge still and i'd que up making the same experience of gaming for the next party because I have yet to fully understand the mechanics. Knowing people are willing to help me like that, makes me much more willing to help the next "new" guy.
TLDR; We were all noobs at some point, help your fellow players out as you know others had helped you. This is an MMORPG , we should be trying to build a strong community united, not divided and hating on eachother because we havn't the gear you got or completed the run you have 1,000 times. If we work together, our experiences will improve greatly.
I have NEVER, Ever, had a single issue with the duty finder except on Titan HM, and for Titan HM I understand why people leave. When I que for AK we run it, when I que for CM we run it. I've never had an AFK'er. I've even had groups wipe the full 90 minutes on something and keep trying. I'm just lucky I guess. But I'm also a pretty tolerant tank. I take lead where no lead is present.
Actually i did read the whole thing. While you are quoting more you have not added any context to the section i pasted. I wonder why that is. I quoted one small section. I let other people read the rest of it.
It is obvious to practically anyone who is fair minded that it was meant for newer players to progress. Until they found people to play with. Free Companies, Link Shells. IT is these that people who have played MMO's for a long time should be using.
Not the Duty Finder which was added to prove to the normal game player who had never played an MMO that it is easy and enjoyable to form a party. Until they have formed enough friends etc that they no longer need Duty Finder to hold their hand.
Unfortunately you are trying too hard to prove a point you have already lost. First you claim their was no written evidence by SE stating what the use of DF. When some is posted you then try as hard as you can to use the text to your advantage.
I didn't need context to the section i quoted. All you have done is bolded sections that work for you while ignoring the context. You even included "Therefore, I believe the duty finder is a "necessary feature for the players new to the world of MMORPGs."
Which is exactly what was being said. It is for NEW people. Would you class people doing speed runs as "new". I know i wouldn't
The idea of an MMO is to join up with people to beat content. If you join up with people then you shouldn't need duty finder. Only NEW players would need it.
It would also make sense that people who are in LS and FC would not need to use DF as much as a new player as they have people to play with.
But no, instead of common sense people want to use everything their own way, with complete disregard to other people using it. Here new player let me force you from watching content you paid for because i am not new and i demand you bow to my will and speed run with me.
For those who may have missed the article... http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...depth_and_his/
I have and I still don't get your point. If its that you don't like using duty finder, guess what, no one is forcing you to do so. Make friends and do it with them, although your attitude suggests that might be difficult for you. Your secondary point that because you don't like duty finder you can be an asshole to people further suggests making friends is probably difficult for you.
I remember when I could run AK.
Always nice being kicked from an Easy dungeon because I dont massively over gear the content.
Now that nobody runs castrum, my only option is to hope i can get carried through garuda and titan and get relic so i can actually run for Philo tomes again.
"It is obvious to practically anyone who is fair minded that it was meant for newer players to progress. "
LOL, what a waste of time arguing with those that counter with opinionated BS.
Whatever, not even going to put much more effort in this anymore, just going to use quotes to do the typing for me. The facts have been pointed out already but who knows; maybe if people keep posting opinions long enough they'll be just as good as facts?
This is the point abridged so as to help reading comprehension:
Plan facts. And, as for the purpose of the DF:
Despite anyone's opinion, the purpose of the DF is to make parties quickly. Doesn't matter if I happen to think it's for speed runs (I don't but w/e) or you happen to think it's for helping new players. It just makes parties quicker (and galvanizes intrinsic problems within the game).Quote:

PS: Phogg, I just don't know how to make this anymore straight forward for you buddy.
PS: Everyone else, enjoy my characters beautiful face, and I hope you get my point. If not, at least enjoy your tomes.
In that article, he did mention everything you did state.
He mentions NEW players more than once. Wouldn't that fact point out in a way it is mean't for people new to MMO's to use?
Also would you agree that people who would need to use DF more are people who are more likely new to the game and have not yet joined a LS or a FC?
I do not mean to suggest that it is NOT to be used by everybody but it is going to be of more use to people who are NEW. Are people who are new going to be doing speed runs?
Therefore wouldn't that suggest that jumping in demanding people do speed runs and skip content is going against the basic principle of DF?
Which is why i said "It is obvious to practically anyone who is fair minded that it was meant for newer players to progress."
when i read the article i read it a few times to make sure i was getting the gist of what he was talking about. He added these lines at the bottom.
Therefore, I believe the duty finder is a "necessary feature for the players new to the world of MMORPGs."
I would like new players to think "Hey, that was much easier and fun that I thought it would be" after their first party experience.
Wouldn't these lines alone suggest he was thinking about new players as he even says the word NEW TWICE? At one point he was talking about a method to learn to be part of a party with other people while progressing through the main story.
The method was DF. So DF is a tool for new people to learn how to be part of a party while progressing. IE a training tool for NEW people.
We could argue that the article is being misinterpreted by either of us. It just seems more logical that people would expect people who are in LS and FC and are working on endgame would have less use for DF than people who have just started to play and are still making friends and searching for a FC/LS to go through endgame with.
The duty finder isn't something particular to FFXIV; it's been in other main
The problem is that the people running AK for the first time are thrown in with the other 95% of players... which are the ones who have run it already before and want to speedrun it. There isn't really a way to fix this, except that I think any smart player should go read up/watch a vid on ANY piece of content before doing it just to know what to do rather than trial and error, to save everyone's time. If not, maybe there's a helpful player to guide the new player along (I just did this tonight with a tank new to AK, in DF), but there might not be.stream MMOs and the idea is for EVERYONE to be able to pop in the game, queue for an instance, and bam go.
You are right about it being a problem but not everyone wants to read guides or watch videos telling them how to beat content. That is also the problem. People insisting that their way of playing is "the" way to play.
Why should the select few who got through the content first be the only people allowed to experience it without having to know everything before hand?
Intentionally or not that is what your suggestion to fix the problem is suggesting. Did you know that 94.4444% of percentages are made up.
You see the experienced players are demanding that the NEW people bear the burden of the situation
They enter duty finder demanding that people new to the game should skip content, read guides etc. Why not leave the new people alone to experience the content just how the first people who went through the content did?
The sad thing it seems that most people are so caught up in their own in game agenda that they care very little if anyone new actually enjoys the game.
I'd be careful about saying anything about the community, they will ban you for saying there's a problem.
I understand how the OP feels, just a few days ago I got my first troll in this game. Got mad at me for being new at AK and didn't want to help me.
