i dont like end game gear because you cant dye the armors to make em unique looking, so ill most likely stick to HQ level 50 armor, and customize it with materia
...you know, with the amount of people (several dozens at least, on non-legacy server) running around with lv50 characters less than one week after launch, I'm surprised to see anyone complaining about this and not about how easy it is to "finish" the game, in general.
After receiving a lot of feedback in version 1.0 about the job artifact armor quests being overly frustrating due to the fact that they were placed within dungeons or at the end of difficult battles, the development team decided to make them easier to earn in A Realm Reborn.
As mentioned, there are definitely more difficult challenges available for players who seek a greater reward for their efforts.
we got what we the 1.0 players asked for.
My lord, do not complain about this. It's already bad enough of a grind getting anything post AF. They throw you a bone, and you complain anyways.
It's not as if you stay in in forever, and gear in this game does not fully equal skill, that's why you have elitist pricks trying to judge people who are trying to do fresh endgame for being in AF gear. THOSE are the ones you need to stay away from. for all you know the AF wielders are more skilled then the people who abused exploits for that darklight, i know i'v seen quite a few of those.
Besides, after AF most stuff better takes alot longer to get, so get used to seeing people in AF often now that you can't abuse AK anymore.
As someone that has an almost max level armourer. Kinda sucks, more than being a weaver or LW, since we don't make any gathering armor either (besides the one off helm), and to top that off, they get entry level armor. Really regretting not choosing gold smiting at this point).
It's astounding the number of players that believe that having all your AF gear is your combat license to take on all the Primal HMs.
Considering i have beaten Ifrit and garuda with very few wipes, in fact garuda on second try, even with bad DPS, and titan is on hold since i have not been playing much latelty, i;m not sure what makes you think it isn't good enough. You may want to rethink that opinion.
I think it should be the base factor in which end-game content you can participate in. Maybe there's something better out there for gear, but having a full AF gear set which isn't complete until a player hits 50 should allow them to participate in level 50 combat. I mean, if having all AF gear still doesn't mean you're ready for these fights, how will you ever get the better gear that comes from these fights to participate in these fights?
It was annoying to her when we didn't have duty finder. I do feel they took it way too far on the other direction with just giving you the pieces. It's all said and done now, there is not reason to change since many already have the gear and have outdated it. For the future, please avoid giving out such quality gear for such an easy quest. It undermines crafters and really ruins the AH for all gear at that level. It's just too good.
The problem with all those level 50 chars that zoomed up there in 1 week, they don't know how to play or listen in teams. They just zerg'd their way up through fates.
I don't know how many times I've told people "YOU CAN"T SIT THERE AND SHOOT ARROWS. you NEED to move" "um... what?" so they go afk. This game needs a virtual "Shove boot up players ass", or a "vote kick" that kicks that boots them from your team/instance and blocks them from joining an instance for 15 minutes because of the stupidity they have.
FF14: Oh you're looking for an instan... oh you have the stupid flag on you. Sorry, wait 15 minutes.
player: yo w8, im not stup1d
ff14: yes you are, you're now banned from instances for 1 hour. Go back to school and learn to spell
I would say that the best option would be a difficult single player instance with npc's. A quest that puts player understanding of job role in party and its execution to a final test. A test that u cant get pay-carried through compared to the relic quest.
I think that's more due to the fact that there's no set "direction" for players at 50 (beyond the storyline quests) and you're immediately handed Primal HM quests as soon as you're done.
I did Ifrit in pure AF gear with some white-quality level 30-40-ish level jewelry, and then was immediately handed the quest to do Garuda. But I know I am not ready for Garuda because I don't have the gear. But someone for whom this is their first MMO? They're not going to automatically know.
For me, the fun of these types of games is working for the advancement of your character. Gear is part of the advancement. Having it handed to me is not fun and makes the armor meaningless.
There is a small but growing group that is already complaining about a lack of content. The AF quests were good content. Next there will be a large group of the "give it to me now" crowd complaining the game is not fun and will move on to the next game. They are like locusts moving from one game to the next and never interested in staying with any game more than a month or two. FFXI was SE's highest grossing game due to the sustained player base not the MMO locusts that try every game then move on and never staying with anything. SE needs to focus on pleasing the right players.
The AF armor quest nerf isn't that big of a deal to me by itself. I just hope it doesn't become the standard for this game.
Casual game is casual.
The thread kinda annoys me. As someone who's new to mmos and is in this gear currently, it's not like I just paid for it or just got it handed to me- it really was countless hours of playing and learning and developing. I get that it was harder to get in 1.0, but this isn't 1.0- I don't think that there should be such a sense of entitlement, because the standards for everything else is new anyway. You guys all have more powerful gear, have accessed more, and are playing with people on your level anyway, so why not just leave it alone?
A whole bunch of crying for nothing. What does it matter what the gear is called? An easily obtainable endgame starter set that will be replaced after your first level 50 dungeon could be called anything. I'm sure that the majority of the QQ is just because it is called AF.
If they stopped calling it artifact and called it something else, would that make it all better? Why does the fact that it is called artifact mean it has to be the most uber thing in the game? How many WHM in FFXI did you ever see wearing Healer's Duckbills? It was AF though! It has to be awesome or the game is ruined! All that gear given to you throughout the game for doing menial tasks and no one bats an eye, but as soon as they call it artifact, the crybabies come out in droves.
I think some people whine just for attention.
Kind of feels like no matter how long I play, people like me who are new to FF14 or MMO's will never be good enough in general? Yo.
it makes any gear from 45-50 from those dungeons and quests useless, thats what I don't like, if they at least made it 1 every lvl from 45-50 it would at least make the 45-50 gear useless.
If the elitists QQing in this thread had their way, we'd all be competing with each other for coffer key drops and coffer pops like the bad old days of FFXI.
I'm a busy person. I only have a few hours a day to play, I don't have 7 hours a day like FFXI demanded, and I don't want to compete with other people nor form the perfect party just to get a piece of AF gear.
Probably because you didn't read the Japanese threads, maybe? English complaints tended to be centered around animations and harder content and open-world PvP (that is, wanting those things) and, later, raging at seeing unicorns as mounts and servers being segregated (which never happened). Essentially, alot of 'me, me, me' and 'I want this, I want that'. It was depressing to the point that I just stopped going to the forums.
So I'm almost 48 now and I still haven't seen this fabled AF armour, I'm going to assume it's a story mission? Since it's 45 I'm guessing it's after Garuda? So Garuda is now considered easy?
I've been playing mmo's since UO and M59, I've played everything from TSO to DAOC, I've recently put time in on GW2, Defiance, Rift, etc etc. Obviously I also played WoW as well, so I can put things into a better perspective then a fair amount of you people that are still in their early 20's and think they've played a lot of mmo's. The primals in the storyline aren't a walk in the park, you can't faceroll them like any dungeon that exists in WoW. They have mechanics and they need to be followed, and this is a challenge to a fair amount of players in this game. Group cohesion is a skill and once a group acquires it then these primals become easy.
Giving people AF armour for defeating the storyline isn't giving away free armour so please, stop acting like elitists.
Imo you should be able to do things with a few or all AF when you think about Primals being your entry level endgame activity. hard stuff should be the AK, DD, relic weapon type of stuff(I know you mention HM Primals but not everyone is going to have the best of the best gear for these things, get over it, playstyle has a lot to do with success not just gear). Really, how do you get better armor? How do you get better pre relic weapons? you play with the best weapon you can get and armor you can get pre DL and pre Primal. You could lvl crafting classes to 50 and synth decent armor and meld it but really, what do you expect ppl to do? Especially if they don't like crafting?
After their previous update, speed running AMD for easy Darklight is gone, so at that point, just getting an instance queue would take you about 20-25 minutes with a full group, and another 40-50 minutes clearing the dungeon, so pretty much working towards your AF2 would take quite a while. Which should have been the case, they don't expect you to be fully geared by the first month.
I don't think people shold have to endure a dungeon with an Altedour I Tavnazia-esque boss at the end for a piece of AF.
There, I said it. Gating artifact armor quests behind such requirements serves only the players who get on the content early enough. Later on down the road, two expansions in, this content would be dead on the vine due to inactivity.
Because in about 10 minutes your AF gear becomes useless and considered undergeared for the following instances.
I'm not gonna lie when I say I was a little disappointed. Just as a 1.0 player, who had to work a lot harder for my AF, they just gave it out like candy. I got over it fast though.
really dont understand what all those fuss is... u could have the best godly equipment in game n still die fast if u dont have the skills = = honestly this is more a whinging thread about ppl not bein able to brag look at my smexy equips lol
