Finally got everything set up and started a new character (Mathy), I started in Bastok if that matters.

The newer the better actually. Personally I'm not planning on being Uber in XI, just want to enjoy people's company and have a little fun to kill sometime while we wait for ARR. Going to be enjoying the ability to do some solo work and maybe do some light event stuff and helping people.

I know once I transferred all of my information to my Square Enix account I got a chance to change all my passwords. Try doing that first and resetting all of your passwords.

Not all of us are starting from scratch. You can always start a new character. Some of us are trying to create characters from XIV's circle of knowing, so you could do that. There's always level sync too. You might not be getting any experience but you could still join in on the fun.

As of now though it's mainly just a place besides the forums to hang out with like minded people. Come pick up a shell!

A warning, though. I never did much teaming when I first played, so I'm really not sure how any jobs are supposed to play. It'll be a learning experience if I team.

Sorry I wasn't able to make that video last night. My laptop's video card decided to die on me so I was trying to fix that pretty much all night. I'll try to make a character creation video which includes a quick primer on races/jobs/nations and starting hints today when I get back from work.

this might help

edit: i haven't done it myself, so i don't know for sure... but in the link it says to wait to register the code to your account until after you've activated a content ID and made a character.

not sure if it would mess things up to apply the code first then make a character after, but perhaps it's safer to do it in the recommended order just in case.

no worries. square has always had a really wonky way of doing things like this. i remember the item codes for this game giving people fits just the same.

oh, and one more thing- if you didn't already know, apparently the code is a one-time-only thing. after you apply the code to one character, you can't use it again for any others. kind of unfortunate :( i was hoping it could be used for each alt on an account.
