i-it's... the fur... or something
Honestly, seeing those are making me reconsider create a hrothgal alt entirely, oof

Another hotfix patch without this issue addressed.
Part of me feels like this won't get fixed unless a significant light is shed on the issue
I wonder when we're actually getting that statement about the current state/progress about the graphical update, the one they mentioned a while ago here: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...=1#post6570905
They said it'll be late August, that's pretty much now. I could imagine Hrothgals might be mentioned there, too.
I don't know what SE did with Hrothgals, but man. A few of the wonkies I found over the weekend:
Clipping on the Sarcenet Chestwrap of Healing/Casting:

MORE clipping! This time on the Classical Signifer's top (which made me mald, this is my favourite caster piece, ffs)

And while not a glam I use occasionally, my retainer brought a piece back and I decided to try it on (Replica Sky Rat harness)

Holy shoulder pads.
Scrolling through this thread honestly saddens me.
People have been waiting and asking for this for awhile...I remember going into the benchmark to try it out only to find...a select few hairstyles...that are locked to faces.
I feel if I had fantasia'd to hrothgal and found all these issues with gear, I'd be really upset. I hope they fix this even though this is a race I'd never play. Why are hrothgals not only limited in hair options...but the gear looks weird...The ladies look like they borrowed their BF clothes....
I thought they learned from m/f Viera and Hrothgar but it seems like we're regressing.
What more do we need to do to bring this to SE's attention. Announcement was made about the planned changes to character models and not a peep about the poor female hrothgar gear rigging.
That post is about issues that arose when adapting the old races to the new graphics. Hrothgals are unrelated to that topic since they did not exist before the graphical update. If Yoshida says anything about the rigging issues I would expect that to be at the next live letter.
I'm eagerly anticipating any news about that issue being fixed as well. I think Hrothgals are awesome but the rigging problem was a deal breaker for me. :(
I beg to differ. Yes, they are new, but they are just as much character models as any other, and if we're talking about visuals, I'd say the visuals of a new people should be mentioned as well. (And some of the issues criticized on Hrothgar have existed for much longer on our brothers. Obviously the rigging issues are an exception here.)
Disappointed by the lack of Hrothgar mention in the latest message... It would be nice to know this is at least on SOMEONE'S radar.
They're not just talking about "visuals." They're specifically talking about the character model changes between the old graphics and the new. Hrothgals didn't exist in the old graphics and thus experienced no changes, so they are completely irrelevant to the subject of that post. I'm certain the devs are more than aware of the rigging issues and they'll talk about it at some point, hopefully the next live letter. Whether what they say about it is what we all want to hear remains to be seen.
Each update, hrothgar clothing fixes are one of the first things I look for.
I wonder if maybe there was a chain reaction of bad model sizing in an attempt to prevent clipping. Torso gear might have had oversized sleeves, and so the devs had to make gauntlets wider in order to compensate... until they can fix it, which they better! It's all so unfortunate.
The other day, a friend of mine tried on some of my gear with their female roegadyn character, and the arms looked sooo much better. There's no way the large sleeve sizes on female hrothgar can be intentional when compared this way.
It can't possibly be intentional, and if it somehow is, it was a literal last minute change. It's one thing if some gear don't look good on them (because I swear they use the "one size fits all" methods and sometimes don't even double check on other races) but their racial starter gear, that literally only they can use? nah, I don't buy it.

So I just got the Black Mage goetia set today and, uh...

I agree. The only other scenario I could think of is that maybe they ran into some really gnarly clipping issue at the eleventh hour and the only solution was to take a sledgehammer to it and make them huge. Given that half the sleeves still look normal though I don't think that's the case either. I'd wager it's an unintended issue that they'll fix at some point.
I'm sorry. But people should realize they are subbing to an indie company by now. Even F2P MMO's and mobile games have voice acted npc's and better character customization with far less budget considering FFXIV has a sub AND a cash shop. + all the sidemerch.
Im starting to feel like their dev team is incompetent, a bunch of trainees or allocated to other duties within square enix. I refuse to believe they are just doing it out of spite or lazyness.
I feel like most of the money Square makes with FFXIV isn't actually invested into FFXIV's production, starting with getting an appropriate number of workers to deal with all the workload. (It also doesn't help that they require you to move to Japan and be semi-fluent in business Japanese if you want to work there in this day and age, no matter what job you want to do...)
Oh no, the All Saint's Wake voidsent dislocated my shoulders!

It's not as bad in a normal relaxed pose, but it doesn't look right either. Ofc the gloves are also massive. It's a pity, I really like this glam.

This is not a bug, it is a feature for this race and without being mean... it will never be fixed. Unless Easter and Christmas fall on the same day and on that day even Viera and Hrothgar get hats and other headgear. Haha :)
This is a forum for feedback. I'm giving feedback. I have been playing a Hrothguy for years, and two Vieras, I am aware the chances are rather slim 7.1. will suddenly give us 30 hairstyles and make all hats wearable. However, how gear looks on them certainly looks like a bug (as do their shoulder positions in general sometimes tbh) and my bug report was not moved to "Working as Intended" either. So I'd rather post it here as another example instead of doing nothing. You're free to find it super pointless of course, but the very reason why we have Hrothgals and possibly why they don't look like catgirls with a different slider for body height is people posting in the forums and on social media asking for them and making suggestions, so...
I have recently made an in-game bug report of the Hrothgar Vambraces reporting that they are unnaturally large. I had a representative come back asking for visual proof, which I did sent. And they came back to me reporting that they issue was forwarded to the devs.
This proves that the unnatural shoulder gap is a bug, not a feature. It could be caused by the mambo-jambo coding of the visual update with scaling making it weird. Because believe it or not, the gloves/gear being 3 times larger than the model, is not in fact a feature. It's a coding issue. They also created such issues with some of the faces and the face paint for other races. Female Hrothgar suffers more from it due to being made at the same time as the visual update and such mistakes being easier to miss.
I am more than happy to report to them any piece of gear I find to have said bug.
So... I tried on that Bridesmaid dress and...

I know I shouldn't but I can't stop laughing XD
Those sleeves are allergic to arms apparently XD
Yes, that dress has always been a bit... situational. ;) I have yet to figure out how to make it look good on my characters. (It's not impossible, but it's a level of glamour endgame skills I have yet to achieve. xD )

Honestly they should have never released this race if this was the best they could've done. Or at least pushed it back until they're able to get everything in order. The fact that they STILL haven't fixed the hat issue with the other races is just ridiculous.
Hroth shares assets with Roe, that much is obvious. Been calling them Roe with fur glued on since day one.
It's also the least played race by a long shot. That's probably one of the reasons why Fem Hroths are late by a whole expansion.
Unfortunately, devoting the FF14 team's ever-dwindling resources to fix a problem that only effects a dozen or so people in a world of multiple millions doesn't make sense from a budgeting standpoint.
Low effort for low demand, if you will.
Though, I do agree the hat problem is stupid given the proliferation of Vieras.
Looking forward to 7.1, if they might start drip feeding Hrothgals new hairstyles as well, as they started doing with Hrothguys and Viera a while ago, and then call it "see, we're working on it"...
That said, I could imagine they wanted to put them out earlier, even if buggy and terribly incomplete, because then working on them might be higher on the priority list than it would be as a feature "we might implement at some point some day in the future". (And because you can add it to advertisement for your expansion.) Who knows...
Honestly, regardless of the race's popularity, Hrothgals are the expansion's "new toy" so to half ass them doesn't speak well of SE. You either do it properly or not at all. Frikin WoW does a better quality control over their races, when some of them consist of 1% of the total playerbase.
I won't change back because I finally feel that I am "who I am supposed to be" race wise and looks wise if that makes sense. However, I do hope for new hairstyles and for them to fix this rigging issue. Thankfully, almost all of my glams aren't impacted by this because I don't wear a lot of sleeve heavy garb.
I think SE also sets themselves up for this type of issue. They half-ass a new race, give them limited everything and then folks switch back to what they were previously. Then we get stuck with "well, it's not a very played race, why put the effort in?" Which isn't fair. Many would have stayed hrothgal if they had the same features and access as the other races.
Kind of, male hrothgar share body models with male roegadyn which is quite obvious.
Female hrothgar on the other hand share body models with every other race's female characters besides Lalafell.
This is also what leads to the weird scaling on armor for femhroth, almost every piece of armor is made for female midlander and then scaled through the unique racial skeleton, with femhroth they just clearly hit the limit of skeleton scaling to the point where it starts looking goofy.
The shoulders/armpits themselves also look a bit strange to me when they raise the arms and stretch, a little rough and, idk, angular, if that's the right English word, but this might just be my own perception. I have barely any experience with playing a Roe, maybe that's just normal for the bigger muscular races. (I know Hrothguys but their body structure is not exactly the norm to begin with.)
