I was thinking was just me with terrible loading, definitely needs fixed ASAP.
SSD GANG
that comment used to piss me off so much when i was on console. if you can toss an ssd in your console itll drastically reduce your loads. if that works for you i recommend it.
How could someone own a XBOX and NOT have Gamepass? It's a fantastic bargain for what you get, which is access to a ton of games, some of them big new releases. It also allows you to experience games you would usually never think of paying for.
Plus if you 'game' the system, it's not THAT expensive. When I first got my series X, I used the xbox live trick and got 3 years of ultimate for like $180. To extend that right now I just checked and it will cost me about $110 for another year from buying 4 3 month cards online. Not as nice as the Live trick, but $110 is really not that much for access to all that content for a whole year, especially if you have a decent job.
And as others have said. That gamepass/xbox live requirement for any online playing has been around for years and years. I remember that requirement back when I had a xbox 360. I think only people new to Xbox consoles are shocked by it.
But it's there and you either do it or buy a computer or PS5 if you want to play FF14 some other way.
I don't think any of those have a required subscription to play. I know ESO is buy to play with optional subscription for perks and DCUO seems to be F2P.
The majority of Xbox players aren't going to care because they already have Game Pass. It's those who don't have Game Pass that are upset and I doubt that Microsoft cares. They want those Game Pass numbers as high as possible to wave in front of investors. MS Investors aren't going to care about numbers belonging to a different company's products/services but they will care about Game Pass numbers.
Some people are well less off. And some people (often those with "decent jobs") just don't have enough time to take advantage of such a large collection of games. Especially since many games nowadays (FFXIV included) are aggressively competing for people's free time.
So a bad commercial practice is justified simply by virtue of being around for a long time? Is there a statute of limitation or something?Quote:

That's because they haven't fallen to stockholm syndrome yet.Quote:

I reeeeeeaaallly wish they would fix the chat censorship issue with the Xbox version. That has been the biggest problem for me to deal with on the Xbox.
Between the broken chat censorship for all Xbox players, the double-subscription for people who don't already have Game Pass, and the forced use of FF Coins for those who only have the Xbox version of FF14; it's like people went out of their way to make the Xbox version the weakest platform to play Final Fantasy 14.
It's also worth mentioning that Square's hyper-restrictive account policies make FF14 the one and only Xbox game I'm aware of that doesn't support game sharing. If my wife wants to play on the same physical console, but on her gamertag, she would need to buy a separate copy of the game. No other Xbox game works like that. We only need to buy one copy of any other game for us to both be able to play on the same console.
Where's PirateRyanG at??????
All this crying. It's hilarious. Everyone wants stuff for free
Folks are paying a sub, a hardware purchase, electricity, and an internet connection. Rent too, most likely, to have somewhere to play.
How are people wanting something for free? Just because they don't want to pay microsoft to gate them from using the internet on this one game? Because they don't think they should have to pay an additional 15 bucks or whatever a month thst pc and psx players don't?
You have to be trolling.
???
After people have bought the xbox, bought the game (of which a % goes to microsoft, just because its on xbox), and are paying their sub to SE (which is justified since they run the servers and create new content for the game), why should they also pay an additional sub to microsoft? What do microsoft brings to the table that justifies this, other than the comically incompetent chat censorship?
Its microsoft who wants money for free there.
With apologies for the very late reply -- the requirement to have XBox Live Gold was, by my understanding, why FFXIV did not come out on XBox at ARR, as the PS3-exclusivity deal had, also by my understanding, only applied to the original version of the game, from which ARR was distinct.
The opposing stances of "XIV players should not be required to pay for two subscriptions" and "all MMOs on XBox require XBL Gold / Game Pass (Core or greater) to play" remained - remain? - standing in opposition and are why FFXIV did not come out on XBox until Dawntrail. I can only conclude that by the time Dawntrail was in development, the devs saw enough demand to justify compromising on their stance to make the game available. I suspect Microsoft compromising in allowing the Free Trial to not require Game Pass made things acceptable to SE, if only just.
