well hopefully they don't end up pulling a Ubisoft, where they chased too many trends then it puts them in the predicament of forcing the cancellations of most their upcoming games because none of the trends they tried to chase working. I do say 16 probably hurt what EW was suppose to be and Yoshi wanted for 14 but will have to wait and see where Dawntrail goes to know really.

Likewise. I wasn't overly fond of the MSQ's in either the base game or the patches...but the majority of side content being based around Hildibrand style 'humour' only further eroded away my interest in the game.

I'm just using it for housing at this point, since it's one of the few aspects of the game to be consistently updated in each new patch and I'm lucky enough to own a large mansion in the Lavender Beds.

I think it’s commonly agreed that FFXVI development took away from XIVs development. I really do hope that the developers are aware of the feedback and that CBU3 can stick to XIV only moving forward. I think it’s a dangerous precedent for SE to try to divide the teams attention again.

Those of us that want more engaging content are in the minority. SE knows exactly what they're doing. They know that they're profiting immensely because they can put less resources into the game and that the vast majority of the playerbase will continue to play regardless. What more could any developer ask for besides knowing that regardless of the quality of your product, people will likely proceed to buy it anyways?

It will take something like a decade before the issues within the game build up to the point where people give up, and even then, because cash shops extras exist a small group of credit card players could keep it going. The rest of the leaving players will also never agree on when or where they felt the game went downhill.

That isn't remotely what happened. I was there watching it. Yoshi-P was playing Tears of the Kingdom before the stream when they were testing things and he was on the test stream with his Switch in his hands. And then the Live Letter proceeded like normal when it was time for it to go live.

The post EW story content really feels like anime filler content to me, yea it moved the story forward but does not feel essential.

Post EW content for the last two years and the longer patches are really hurting the game. Even Yoshi is not thrilled with the patches as shown by him playing his switch in a live letter. I was taken back so hard when I saw that…

So much is riding on 7.0 with me that it’s really starting to worry me. It really is Ride or Die time because if 7.0 flops, my sub will probably go idle for the first time ever in 10 years.

In any event, the game caters to more than one type of player. No problem with that. In fact, stats show that savage/ultimate raiders are in the minority. The content isn't bound by anyone's schedule, only the game's expansion calendar which is almost a year to clear this tier. It's a misnomer to think savage is hardcore only content, it's not. Anyone can clear savage on their own schedule with some learning and dedication to the job and content. It's no different than dedicating to other achievements in the game.

I don't know what TC is talking about.

The Tomestone event is very active and there's so many people in Ul'dah atm.

I cannot even play BG3 on the side as my queues as so short even as DPS.

LOL you are talking PROJECTED NUMBERS because hate to tell you FY 2024 Q1 has not happened yet....LOL god and you tell me to read financial reports then quote a projection XD

I think you're confused about what a Fiscal Year is.

For Square Enix, their fiscal year ends in March. So FY2024 is likely referring to a period starting in April 2023, and ending on the last day of March 2024.

I mean, if there's a really good game out I'm going to be more excited to play it than the game I've been playing since Heavensward. It's not an issue with savage, it's a Baldur's Gate 3 is really good issue. I mean, I have plenty of complaints about FF14 atm but my wanting to play BG3 or Armored Core has nothing to do with whatever is happening with FF14 at the moment.

Also this game is currently in one of it's low periods between content drops. Hence why we got the mogtome event. Diablo 4 despite only being out a few months is also having the same issue resulting in that game having a sale + timed bonus exp/gold event over the weekend as they didn't develop the title's endgame loop before launching it.

Events like that aren't likely to pull people away from a solid new title. Baldur's Gate 3 is a solid RPG. Armored Core 6 was like a resurrection of a franchise that had vanished during the last console generation and is going strong despite filtering players with it's tutorial mission boss.

Starfield however is looking like a mixed bag. There's a fair amount of people praising it, however I'm seeing a fair amount of complaints as well from ppl that are playing it now due to early access via pre-order. The most common things appearing to be excessive loading screens, out dated UI elements, over usage of various visual filters which end up making the game look worse, and the pile of expected Bethesda game bugs and glitches. The PC players at least have a modding community that is already hard at work addressing some of these complaints, however the xbox players appear to basically be xboned.

FFXIV is the home base game for a lot of my friends. Has been for years.

People will leave to go play the new shiny single player or smaller co-op, play that for a few months, maybe log in every 6 weeks to keep their houses if they don't unsub entirely, and then come back when the new patch is out.

Nothing wrong with playing other games!

The only worry would be if those folks DID NOT come back for patch 6.5 (or just before 7.0 launched to binge all of 6.x patches - that's a pattern some people also have.)

We'll find out in a month or so.
