I was in the same boat. $10 price tag with 8/40 toons for free? Win. The Chocobo is just extra credit.
My question is, when 2.0 comes out, will they do another Collector's Edition or pre-order bonus stuff with new special noob gear? I don't know about you, but I still have my Onion Helm, and those FFXIII Armguards. And I am a whore for the free/bonus loot.
So my apologies for this question, but I want to be sure.
I'm in the same boat as Syldra, where I had purchased the game back in October of 2011, and then unsubbed. I recently resubbed a couple weeks ago, and signed up for the 30 day option. Then I discovered the legacy program and changed my sub to 90 days, since I was having fun and thought it'd be worth it.
Now they've announced that doing that really won't work, because after July 1st if you're on the 90 day plan it won't actually successfully charge you. However, the FAQs state that you have to have paid 90 days worth of time before the start of 2.0 beta testing.
So while it can be inferred from the deadlines posted and how the FAQs are worded that 2.0 beta testing won't start until September, I was wondering if there is a post by Square anywhere that definitely confirms this fact. I want to make sure that even on the 30 day plan, I will still qualify for legacy. Any help would be appreciated.
Wow, that sucks especially since the subscription is between $9.99 /mth for legacy and $14.99/mth for standard once v2.0 is released. I don't know if the the principle of paying additional 50% for the same product would allow me to continue with this game.
I was hoping "to be eligible for the Legacy campaign, you must pay for 90 days cumulative between January 6th and the start of version 2.0 beta testing." is accurate to the letter, and the June 30th, 2012 deadline only affected those on a free trial account while they phase out the 90-day subscription payment plan.
Can I get a second confirmation that I am no longer eligible for the Legacy rewards? It would make the difference of continuing subscribing to this game. /thx
You could possibly sneak in if you get to pay for your 3rd month before the beta starts. No one knows the exact date of it but it will most likely be between Sept. and Oct. It would be all luck at this point but if beta doesn't start before Sept 18th you could be eligible. Good luck.
You should study the subscription plans a bit better, in that case.
As it stands now, there will be an "entry" subscription plan that lets you create up to 8 characters, but only one per server, and this plan will cost $10.99. Legacy will cost $9.99, and the standard plan will cost $12.99.
I don't know where you got $14.99/month from. Depending on how many characters you feel that you need, you won't have to pay more than one dollar more. If I didn't qualify for legacy, I would just have picked the entry-level plan and not even complain. Even the standard plan can easily compete with most other p2p MMOs on the market today.
My friend is set to pay for their third month now on the 24th of July. Im presuming they will qualify for legacy after that payment?
They should, but why ask when it's just 6 days until they'll know for sure? It's not like they would cancel it today if they got a "no" here, right?
Apparently, US players get the shaft here. For us europeans, the difference is actually just a single euro.
In the past, SE has always just swapped the dollar sign with the euro sign when going from america to europe. Apparently, they didn't do that this time. My apologies.
That really is strange, though. It's not unusual to charge different fees in different regions, but in this case, north americans actually save more on legacy than the rest of the world, relative to the total subscribtion cost.
However, the monthly fee is still competitive with for example WoW, which also costs $14.99. However, SE offers a cheaper plan than that if you do not need multiple characters per server. Additionally, it's not unlikely that they will enable 90 and 180 day subscribtions again which might lower the monthly fee even more.
NA = $14.99 (€12.21)
EU = €12.99
We EU pay more again. But still better than €14.99 ^^
me, the funniest part about all this.
Is regardless of what SE has said, people are coming in, reading that they are late. And pretty much demanding that they get the discount too even if they may not qualify for it acting like its not their fault they didnt get in on it on time.
If you miss a sale, its on you, not on the company having it, you arent getting ripped off, you just missed your chance.
^^whatshesaid.
So there's there's no way to get it if I started subscribing in august? :(
But you still have until FFXIV: ARR beta starts to get the Legacy Member Status.
Yes. But that's no longer possible to attain due to the conditions of achieving said status and the current date and likely date of ARR testing commencement.
Well we don't know when the Alpha will start, and how long it will last. So we probably still have another month or 2 before beta starts.
SE din't talk about the end of 90 day subscription option and not being possible for people who just subbed to get 90 days of game time in time if it wasn't going to be happening some time soon after that time frame had passed.
All in all... If you subscribed before the dates that were mentioned... then you WILL get Legacy Status... anything after those dates then no you won't. End of Story.
