You maybe surprised, "Things are not always as they appear to be" As I said Numerous of times, We will see. We all have opinions, and that's fine, but the best thing anyone can do, is wait till E3 comes to show or not show us stuff about FFXIV.. That's really the only Middle ground I can come up with atm.

So what happens when you have convinced everyone to get their hopes up and there is nothing to show at E3 ? are we allowed to vote you off the island ?

So what are all the things on the show floor, fake consoles with a slideshow on the screen, and even in the conferance halls, devs can show what ever videos they like, the Wii-U video showed people (warning this will blow your mind) playing a test version to show how the console would combine the tablet and Wii-mote controlers, so yeah that is what they are working on for gameplay, and I have seen many movies at E3 showing some gameplay (ACR and many more did last year)

What you show depends on what you want to showcase. Is your game not ready for E3, throw together a trailer and watch this space, if you have a fully working version of the game you will release in a couple of months, show gameplay to showcase how well the game plays, and what people can expect if they play the game. Look at the FFXIV opening movie and tell me where it shows how the game actually is (the opening movie was the trailer)

All I said is Wait till E3 Case closed, weather theirs info or not, Yelping about it now isn't changing any facts. Will see what they have in store for us, via Website, or E3 whatever the case maybe, were getting "something".

They ARE releasing the game to the public at E3, what this means is SHOWING the public what it will be like.

They aren't, they said there will be a shitload of NEW information on FFXIV 2.0 on E3 as well as a website afterwards.
NEW as in "stuff we haven't seen yet in the PDFs".

Trailers never really show anything about what has changed, they always look cool even if the game is crap.
If they only showed a trailer, everyone would have been like "Meeh. They are just hyping their broken game with an awesome-looking trailer while the game is actually shit."
By NOT doing that but rather showing information on what has changed and will continue to change with the release of 2.0, they can show way better that FFXIV 2.0 is NOT the same old broken game with only a new wrapping.

I ain't saying any thing one way or the other. I was looking forward to something snazzy that i could show off to my friends as well. I doubt you could find any one on these forums that did not have that sinking feeling when they read that bit in the letter. We are all hungry for info here.

I just see the game there playing here. A gout of information led off with the trailer with the start of the 2.0 roll that is right around the corner.

Trailer = trickle. Instead they are taking a different approach to E3.

Now according to the road map they have "2.0 Marketing Campaign (Including Trailer Release)" listed in August.

It is heavily suggested there will be content at E3 followed by the website with information and then the trailer will be shown later in august along with more information coming out regularly and consistently.

Yes it did then, before it got all the bad press, everyone knew it had failed, right now mentioning FFXIV gives the reply "I can't believe you are playing that failure" what SE need to do is turn that bad press around and a trailer will NOT do that, all it would do is make games sites say "SE released a trailer for FFXIV at E3 today, while the trailer looked very good, I do not think it will do anything to recover the game". However if they show gameplay sites will say "Some FFXIV 2.0 gameplay videos were released at E3 today, we found them to look very good, this may just rescue FFXIV, we will keep you all posted."

The formor is not hype, it is a "oh look those failtards are trying to relaunch thier epic fail again" the latter is hype, its saying "Wow it looks like they could turn this around, we need to keep up to date on it."

Where are the results about the race and jobs?? GG.

Skipped the most relevant questions (prolly still manipulating the results), confirmed what everyone already expected regarding XIV not being at E3 and hid the 4 months-delayed roadmap.

I am actually happy with this approach, reason being is that it's showing that SE is starting to take the initiative not to rush something out the door. As well it shows that SE is getting back in line with the idea "measure three times cut once". While I am sure enough to bet, that the "flood" of info Yoshi is talking about is ready to go. I am sure they are checking every corner to make sure everything is set and smooth as possible. 2.0 is a rebirth that can't go south, so why not take the time to check, check and re check?

The first time with Tanaka, they Checked once... but didn't recheck 5 more times to make sure. Yoshi-P has the right idea, Don't rush something out till its completely 100% safe to send it out.. If they were to send stuff out at E3 without checking the Corners for rough edges.. E3 will make it known that FFXIV sucks..and their wild card has been played and lost.. and may have 0 chance of survival.. Holding on to the Wild Card till Gamescom, while they check their " Flood content" is playing it safe.

Who's to say that we won't get information about 2.0.. before Gamescom? Yoshi-P says they will be updating the site periodically.. but it won't be in it's true "flood" form till X Month (Most likely during their Marketing Campaign in August).

That being said, doing it this way makes sure they don't use up the Wild Card that can make them sink. Word of Mouth spreads like fire..

Well if Square Enix's aim is to attract new players at E3 they should not show the current game because that is not going to attract anybody.

I'm not a new player, I have been following this game since beta and if it was not for the promise of 2.0 I would have quit. Anyone totally new to the game is not going to be impressed by the game in its current form.

Ok, can we have a simply DEV answer?

FFXIV 2.0 will be present at e3 ?

So this means we're going to see something except the previuosly announced CG trailer? ...

Way i see it, in my opinion we can a) wait and see, b) bounce off the walls and speculate like it's going out of stile. Don't know about the majority, but "a" sounds fair to me.

I really think it's a terrible waste to not show the trailer at a huge public event like E3, especially since so many people are either unaware of 2.0's existence or simply gave up on the game a year or two ago. For fans like us who actually play it, it'll be great to have a massive wad of information handed to us [CANNOT WAIT! :D], and it won't matter if we get it a few days later than planned. As for being able to attract new players though.. well.. what a missed opportunity that is.

Tbh I think info at E3 will be a better idea, it'll actually get some attention from ex players that a shiny new trailer won't, and might, just might drag them back before 2.0 or at least keep them thinking about 2.0.

An while the last trailer was OK, I'm almost tempted to say EvE trailers are closer to the game play then it was. An Ex players know this, an most will be far more intrested in know the game has content then some funky new trailer and graphics.

The trailer can be used in the advertising closer to the launch keeping it fresh to try and attract PS3 and new players, giving them the wow factor that just wont work on players, or Ex players.

So It does in some ways make sense though I am a little disappointed as i was hoping to see the direction of the new story.. (An actually that could be another reason to hold it back till after 1.23)

Personally don't see anything wrong with it. They're still going to E3. The road map now says that in August there will be a "2.0 Marketing Campaign (including Trailer Release)". I'd be disappointed if they just said trailer release, but they added that as an extra. It seems like they plan on actually marketing the game during august, which is also a month before TGS. TGS we will probably see a playable version and/or a new trailer.

Kinda feel mixed emotions about this. On one hand, of course im happy that they are taking their time to make a decent game thats ready to be promoted. HOWEVER, we did have a lack of info on the Lodestone for the longest time (Patch 1.22anotes on the ninth which im not counting). I read the letter this morning and was like "OK dude you're either telling us things we already know or things we dont care about". Everyone knows there isnt going to be much story development until 2.0 and for the most part no one really cares about how fast or slow it takes to level up b/c most of us have all jobs to 50 or just our main couple. Notice how he left out everything ppl do care about? New races, classes etc. Im not raging its just c'mon man we havent heard squat for so long other than "its gonna be in 2.0" and then youwait till the last minute to tell everyone "oh yeah heres answers to things the general community doesnt care about and btw the info you thought you were getting, you arent.....but please wait a lil longer kthnxbye". I have faith 2.0 is gonna be a good game but they could at least let us know SOMETHING to tide us over instead of abunch of vauge information. Would it really kill them to let usknow what jobs they are going to implement at launch? New players will have never played before them so y would it matter to leak them to us now? Same thing with races. My point is they knew they werent going to have their stuff together longer than aweek or two so why wait till the last minute to tell the current player base? I wouldnt be nearly as upset if they had been upfront about it earlier and gave us some SOLID info that wouldnt impact new players. Andaugust of all times to promote the game? I hope they know what they're doing cuz last time i looked Guild wars2comes out the end of June and if they cant give the current player base real info before they're gonna lose more people. And by august those ppl will be too engrained into GW2 to come back to XIV, no matter how good it is. Idk about other Servers/LS but ive noticed alot of players quitting to go play TERA. Solutions to keep the current player base interested is just SOLID information,whether its pictures, interviews etc. we understand if its not in game footage but give us something to chew on guys. Rant over sorry in advance thread.

I stopped reading after " Ready to be Promoted" All I saw was "Wall-o-text" after that. @.@

Not sure I understand why people use other MMOs as a "if you don't do this, they gonna leave for x."

The player base for this genre is fickle. A couple blocks of text with new info is not gonna stop people from trying the newest thing. People flock to the newest thing. Happens every time. They'll just be like "Well, all this cool stuff is coming, but it's not in the game yet, so I'm gonna go play something else until it comes out."

They need a 4th poll that asks things about the current state of the game. Like drop systems, opinions on the new jobs, instancing, cookie cutter setups, stat algorithms, random number generator, lockout timers, etc that can be taken into consideration for the 2.0 transition and potentially changed.

They need to actively collect feedback on all this stuff, instead of us posting in forum threads and hoping it gets forwarded and read. At least we'll know they'll have some of this data if the feedback collection is from a poll.

Has anyone ever wondered why they have to ask us about our online times? They should be able to check themselves. o.O
