FFXIV Girls only discord server

The anti-trans counts me out as the aunt I play this with is trans. Sorry, I refuse to be affiliated with those kinds of creatures.

Alt-girl group would be cool.

You all care entirely too much about what some random Discord does.

Did they do something illegal? Even if they did, would it be our business? Astonishing answer is 'No'. Both sides of this squabble are insipid. They could make a Discord server where the only ones allowed are dogs who somehow managed to figure out the keyboard and it wouldn't be any of your business. I was going to ignore this, but imagine my shock when it became 28 pages of people bickering over their stupid worldviews on a site about a game where I tore open a god and turned their guts into a sword. If you struggle with disassociating with your 'principles' so hard that they consume nearly every interaction and that something's mere existence could prove a problem for you, then a new game coming out had a shocking tip that could be of use for you:

Touch grass.

Being mad about a discord only allowing a certain type of people in is peak comedy, how can you provide a safe space if gatekeeping of any kind is bad and who pushed for this narrative if not the types who wish to do bad things?

How can you start a lalafell only static if you arent allowed to say no to other races lmfao. Just take a hint and stop trying to join places that dont want you and stop trying to make it illegal to not want you, good lord this is peak creep behavior

This has to be a joke. I'll be straight here since people have already be talking about this in the thread.

I get the idea of safe spaces. I'm not against them. Yet, when you have allegations about lying and having a horrible way of identification for whether they are a woman or not, then you've already failed to make it a 'safe space'. When it comes to the grey area of trans and the LGBTQ+ community and gender identification, generally I would allow them to stay and go about business while also still following the rules implicated in the Discord server. When you deny them entry because of being trans, let alone make a roundabout of trying to identify the person, it's pretty close to trying to make the person dox themselves just to get into a community they know next to nothing about what's inside due to its female exclusivity. If you're worried about infiltration, all you have to do is keep an eye on behaviors as well as listen to any issues that need to be resolved(if any come up for said person) like any other way you'd mod a server.

I have no issue with a girls only group, but their main function for me used to be as a sanctuary from being constantly hit on and/or sent unwanted and highly inappropriate photos, and that's not a problem for me these days. Either I've learned to instinctively avoid those interactions from the beginning, or the internet was a cesspool from around 2005 to maybe 2015. Maybe a little of both. Also, I am kind of old now, so there's that. It could just be one of the hidden bonuses to getting older.

Literally this btw, this was the case with the european DR savage discords which split in to like 4 different ones because a group of admin men did not want to stop hitting on random female players in their groups they were guiding lmfao. Women deserve a space away from men and men deserve to make spaces away from women and alphabets deserve a space away from both and they all deserve a space together where they get along.

But this shit where you force one in the community exclusive for another is legit terrible and I seriously hope you grow up and stop seething every time you find a gate that does not open for you in your life, how high ones ego must be to presume they have the right to walk in wherever they like.

90% of the time its some dude making a female only discord to hit on women while pretending to be a minority trans person to dodge all heat because the people here literally believe they can never do wrong.

Well, in the past I have joined MMO Women only Discord Groups, the last one I was a part of was in WOW. It was a few years ago, and at first it was great, but then they removed the only Trans Admin in the group, because she didn't disclose to the group she was trans. They booted her because she could go stealth. I was very very annoyed, as a trans woman who can never "pass" due to body size, I was more than a little annoyed. This new group sounds a lot like "Women of Warcraft". So I'm already a bit sus of them.

Voice verification is annoying, and transphobic, but at the same time I do feel more comfortable with a group that uses voice. As I'm Dyslexic so talking is always easier than reading, but at the same time being autistic means I don't actually talk all that often. Like I might say a sentience once a day. And usually its to my cat.

Owie, voice verification? I'd rather melt on the spot than showcase utter strangers my female but accented voice. Just feedback.

No, not at this particular implementation of this idea, since this one is troublesome, but simply at the idea of women seeking safe space in the internet. Because it excludes men, and because the idea seem to *hurt* their pride as a man, where everything and anything should include them in the equation since you know, as a man, they require EVERYTHING and ANYTHING to cater to their needs and requirement--anything that doesn't do that is not fair, is not good, is not nice, and of course must be exclusionary.

Geez, just how fragile the ego of someone to be *mad* about it? It doesn't affect their life in the slightest, but simply because they are a man and as such must be included in EVERYTHING, then they're throwing tantrum about it? Such fragility.

My complaint with this, is just leave them alone? There's plenty of LGBT Discords (can name some for you if you're struggling). This entire thread feels like looking for fights or trying to "expose" people. Just join one of the many many communities that give you what you want and stay away from the ones you don't like the look of. Coming onto a forum to call out a group of women (mostly women from what I can glean) probably isn't the coolest thing to do, ya know, given how volatile online spaces have been towards them.

Everyone has their own custom hugboxes these days, won't take you long to find your own without ruining others.

Groups of women can do some really nasty stuff. Not all of the server is filled with bad people, but the people that run this server are… a bit ‘yikes’.

Could someone please make an all lalafell discord please ? I think Lalas need a safe space away from all the Miqotes that would eat them in their mithkabobs.

Agreed. While I love having these types of discussions, this is probably not the best place for them. Probably better just to lock it. The people in charge of the server are probably aware by now that their approach wasn't well-received.

Let me share the way I perceived the story, which greatly differs from yours.

A girls only discord was advertised as a "safe space" free of "harrassment". This naturally means that males are bad and problematic, and females are all good (-laughs at personal experiences-). The mere concept is an insult to males.

The thread about the bros server was a joke, a parody (and a funny one, I must add). Did you want some serious discussion there?

It's quite simple to see why people might have been annoyed, really.

I finally read the entire thread. Its ups, its downs, watching the train as it goes, as it always goes. Before this thread gets deleted or locked I wish to ask you a few questions about this place because I know I will not get an answer from the op. They dropped this thread like it was hot potato and bailed, and I see why >.<

If you are still checking in on this thread I wish for suspicions to be satiated. So not so much questions, but affirmations.

They really do care what your voice sounds like on the discord, and probably want pictures to prove your gender, maybe even an id card?
I would never considering joining a group like that but was curious because you seem to have...see some things. That whole place seems like bad news bears to me.

If you guys are serious about the girl group without creepy prying what happens if you do not have a playlist but just collections of albums you have gravitated towards for a time? Currently listening to The Avett Brothers, Tons of electroswing mixes, lofi hip hop mixes, Sonata Arctica, Hiroyuki Sawano, Mumford and sons, a collection of game soundtracks (Omori, anything supergiantgames tends to be really good, Closure), Quiet alot of Jazz. Oh my gosh Noir crime drama type jazz where you picture a smokey filled room with a singer in a red dress like something out of the 40s. Pretty much anything I can get my hands on really, but those are the favorites for the last few months.

It truly is amazing how many of you have placed so much hatred toward this group. It's interesting that SOOO many of you would bash FFXIV Girls Only because it's the latest and greatest "Red button" for cancel culture to chime in on.

a Women's safe space was created in effort to support nourish and protect those who do not handle confrontation very well. Those who don't have a voice in a crowded room of entitled humans. This space and it's leaders are there combatting all the trolls and the people who are so against filtered clubs. Did any of you stop to realize it's optional to join?

There are rumors on here that are appalling and untrue and yes they had a bumpy road with their rules. So let me clear the air.
1. No minors were harassed by any member of the staff of this discord. Those who believe that information is true clearly are "fake news"
2. No we do not hate trans or non binary. We welcome both as long as there is a feminine center
3. We are an Ally of LGBTQ+ but we clearly define our discord as Girls only not because we purposefully want to "exclude" and "hurt" sometimes we really don't know and the best conversations to have are emotionally intelligent ones.
4. Our security has improved. We aren't telling you what we changed on a public form, all we know is that it is working and we are able to stop harmful people from joining now, ie; Abusers, Trolls, Harassment, Hate parades and racists.
5. There is no "verification" system that you all are referring too, we are not checking "voices". We are confirming that the user can handle more sensitive topics and that they are in fact capable of handling certain words and phrases. This process is called "orientation" please correct your notes.

Perhaps instead of constantly bashing a group who is simply trying to recruit and enjoy what they have now, you could move on. Find something that fits you instead of harboring hate, and cancelling people immediately.

Feel free to bash me shame me all you want to be honest, reading this post and all the hatred, reminds me how poor we are as kind loving humans to one another.

Opinions are not facts. Stop living in a world where everything is supposed to 100% perfect because its not.

That does not 'naturally' imply that all males are bad and problematic and females all good, what it is clearly there for is to avoid males who can be bad and problematic :) Not all of them, just those nasty few who can make your life unpleasant. Women know all to well how nasty and venomous other women can be. But when you specifically join a community meant to be a sanctuary you are going in with support for yourself and others in mind. You can play some games with other girls, chat away and not be concerned with a dude coming on to you, stalking you etc. There are many times where I had to leave a community due to a guy stalking me that I either had to choose deal with his stalking or leave the community because they WOULD NOT remove them despite my mentioning the issue. Things such as this is why women's spaces exist, but we all know online there will always be creepers who pretend to be women to get at us.. mods must be responsive to concerns of their members.

Sorry, if you take it as an insult then maybe you are one such male who cannot be decent to women? Because if you are just a normal dude who minds his own business I hardly see what the problem is.

The bro's only thread is just another example of men belittling women in whatever ways they can, they can enjoy their joke all while mocking the women who go to such places because men have done them actual harm. Men's spaces are everywhere, hell if they really want a bro's discord I am all for it. But the thread is there to mock in response to this one and it is sad.

Let’s not forget the part most seem to be ignoring this far into the thread, the discord owners/mods/whatever are using some of the girls for their own advantage and the more you look into it you see some concern long trends with some questionable motives such as grooming or predatory behaviors. Just take a look at the thread about the streaming situation on the first page. I’m all about female empowerment but this is just disguised as that and nothing more. I almost joined when I saw in PF but I’m glad I didn’t

Aforementioned problematic stuff aside, why in the world would someone who is nonbinary or whatever is trending on twitter want to be in a discord specifically labelled for women? Like I can see how this implementation has issues for example why do men even get to be in as "supporters", but damn if some people aren't acting entitled over this.
