Fake FCs' Housing Abuse

Whoever said things need to make sense. This games server code is..garbage pure and simple. So should not be a surprise if they have issues like storage. If they really had enough then why would they need more servers?? Why do they need more space?? I am guessing here on everything.

Just for context their is a MC server called 2b2t. Its world gen file has gotten so big you would need a couple of 20 tb hard drives in raid config to hold it. Not saying any housing files are that huge, but too think those files are small is foolish. They are easily bigger then a character file.

I feel like I know people with 20tb worth of screenshots or porn. I ain't impressed.

I dont even recall what thread it was in..sorry. :( It was another poster who said they heard about the issues during and old live letter. Given the issues with housing currently, I find it hard to doubt what they said.

I don't doubt you're right on this, but that said, if significant time has elapsed SE could have figured out a workaround for that issue so I wouldn't necessarily assume that's still as true today as it was when it was said.

So, SE has brought up storage and server load before and how the game crashes because of it, but it was regarding why they could not increase our inventory, which is also why the chocobo bag works differently than our actual inventory bags. The servers they use for the actual game and for housing are very different in the way they are used. The amount they are losing because of ppl quitting due to not having a house is minimal and likely eviscerated by the amount of money they make by ppl maintaining their subs because of their house.

But in the end, the only reason Yoshida has given, to my knowledge, of why we can't have instanced housing is because he prefers the neighborhoods.

Yep, on Excalibur the last couple houses that have sold have gone to shell FCs that only have one level 1 character in it. Very cool stuff!

Have FC weekly stuff that must be fullfileld by the FC, meaning more in numbers would make it a very easy task, but next to full time if only 1 active person is doing it, that will flush out many of the intended 1 person FCs, it will flush out a bit part of the people that is selling FC's for insane amounts of cash and it will open up for that having a FC with a house is not without any trouble, make it easier for having ships doing parts of it, once getting to that or something.

There is a lot of people, who is earning gil on selling FC's and involved into RMT that way as well as for when they need to sell their gold to goldsellers and the likes.

Yeah, there are nearly entire wards on Excal owned by shell FCs with only 1 lvl 1 member. And it's been like this for a very long time. It's insane.

yep, i know someone who bought a medium house on shiva for 55 million , (he just got the FC leadership)

The downside is obvious, you can't join another FC if you do that.

The results that come from queries on the Lodestone originate from a database that uses outdated information. Whether or not that is intentional is anyone's guess, but do know that the information generated from such queries is inaccurate.

You ever seen an FC with 0 members? Now you have.

Just had a small house go this morning, about 6 people trying for it. One person was saying they are literally on the verge of killing themselves, hyperbole I hope! But they said that and immediately logged off. SE really needs to add instanced housing. They make their players miserable with this system.

The only real fix for this is to limit houses based on account not character.

Would also add that they should make air ships etc available to private houses. The FC I am in is larger and the airships an subs are not available to us. And it was the same story in a more tight knit FC I was in beforehand. The only one's who really benefit or get access to that experience is the FC leader. I have a private house but myself and a couple friends want to experience that content. As such my alt has had to become our way of doing it. I made us an FC and got us a small house so we can have fun with subs etc. If I could do all that in my private house however, I never would have needed a second house. I don't like that I have to take a small house for this when I have a house but it is private. All well and good to get mad at the small FC's taking a house, but if they are in the same situation as me, I can't really blame them. They cannot access the content they want without it.
As for one's who make these FC's to then sell them on well.... If they add instanced housing people would have access and this behaviour would die off. I really don't like people just flipping houses for gil or worse real money. But I can't fault people for making small FC's on alts when they want to experience content they otherwise can't.

I keep my FC to have access to the 3 max subs and ship that I built available to me. I spent a lot of time on those but would turn the FC over to my friend in an instant if I had availability from my medium house.

Indeed, I do like an extra house to decorate. But I rather just have the subs in my private home and let the house go to someone without one. I look forward to building the ship stuff with my friends. At least this house will cater to three people instead of just me as I have help. But it's a big oversight from SE to leave it like this.

IMO that content should get moved to Mor D'hona and ran from the Garlond Ironworks. We have done enough stuff with them over the years that having them give the Warrior of Light some space at their workshop should be considered a great honor, especially if we are helping to run their resource acquisition side of things.

There are numerous sites like this out there. My daughter, who also plays informed me that there are Discord servers and sub-reddits dedicated to the selling and buying of FC's with plots as well.

The rules have changed in the 2 years since my post you quoted. They have changed the information regarding FC houses.

As far as we can tell, they are enforcing the currently published rules. I won't say I'm in complete agreement with those rules but I also can't say I have evidence they aren't enforcing them.

SE is well aware of what is happening. They have better data on it than any of us as players can obtain. If they wanted to do something about it, they've had that ability all along.

Honestly given how impactful the quality of life updates have always been, that is extremely unlikely. What's more likely is ancient code that would require a tremendous amount of work to rectify. Generally they rely on the community not to abuse and exploit edge cases, as demonstrated by the absolute disappointment expressed in the zoom mod debacle just this year and the debuff timer before that. SE is not omniscient, they can not know nor predict every kind of abuse.

Using an edge case for an unintended function is indeed an exploit. Systematically taking advantage of that flaw is an abuse of said exploit.

You're acting like this is some sudden new development. It is not. They are very much aware of it and have chosen to do nothing despite player reports that have been submitted over the years.

If they felt it was a problem, they would have done more about the situation than clarify language in the housing guide telling players how they can also obtain multiple FC houses.

Again, I don't like it considering the supply limitations of the system but it is SE's choice. Banging your head against their door screaming "DO SOMETHING" is only going to give you a headache.

The devs have not, as far as I've seen, issued any sort of opinion directly on the matter. That is after all the reason for my initial thread and why I was heartened to see that it was closed and forwarded to relevant parties.

What the devs have clearly stated is plain on the play guide: "You do not have a character on the same World on the same service account that purchased and maintains a free company plot".

There is no such language in the housing guide that explicitly mentions or endorses owning multiple FC plots on a single world with a single service account. However, the opposite is quite clearly defined in the requirements as quoted above.

They don't detail every little thing about the game in "official fashion". If they truly felt that the multiple house ownership was against their spirit of their rules and didn't want players to do it, they would have told us "please don't buy multiple houses" just as they tell us "please don't use third party tools".

See above. Not every little detail of how to play the game gets explicitly mentioned or explained. That the language telling players how they can get multiple FC houses exists in the official housing guide says enough to those who aren't putting their fingers in their ears screaming "I'm not going to listen to that!"

As we've all said, the attention is already there. They are aware of it.

Their response has been to add more wards instead of taking houses away. When limits were first introduced and the restriction officially stated they grandfathered those who previously owned multiple plots before the rule change. It borders on malicious to misconstrue such goodwill and apply it to this current abuse. Regardless if the loophole was being grossly exploited or not additional wards would have been added. Given said restrictions, it is clear that they do see it as a problem. However it may not have such a high priority given the low attention.

Again there is no such language. A small notation to give consideration for an edge case is not an instruction on how to circumvent a clearly stated requirement. This is exactly why it is an exploitative loophole.
