[Suggestion] Fashion/Vanity Slots.

Oh this would be so cool! I love wearing my AF gear (hat) but due to the stats it looks out of place with the AF body and a woolen hat (red) or something, I'm sure you know what I mean!

My friend dragged me kicking and screaming to her shell's O-hat runs. It's so hideous that I wanted nothing to do with it.

Does this mean I can tank with "Uber gear" and look like I am wearing nothing but swimtrunks/subligars?

When I got my hat, I was so new to the game that I didn't really realize what I was getting, just that it was a piece that I *must* have and I was super lucky to be taken along to a run for it. (My *mentor* at the time was doing O-hat runs with her ls and took me along).

Once I saw how horrible that thing looked, I wanted to lie and say I didn't have one, so that I wouldn't have to wear it. Same goes for that stupid turban.

Loved it in other games and shamelessly will buy the better looking gear instead of the better stat stacked one if I can help it... Think of the aesthetically dependent!

Time to bump this again so the reps hopefully see it. ^_^/

The community devs are known to toss responses to posts that are several, several months old when an answer about them finally comes by.
I am very sure that by now the devteam is aware of this idea, and simply lacks a response. So continuously bumping this without further input is needless, I believe

FFXi had a lot of gear that was almost universally panned as hideous yet was the best gear for that slot at the time. There is and will be gear that stands out as "cool looking" and "hideous" that most people can agree on.

There was also gear that looked good but went entirely to waste because of horrible itemization. Like the Amir set obtainable through assaults. Nice-looking set, but you had no reason to actually wear it.

This thread is sassy but I really enjoy the fact people are bringing up the unique armors from FFXI. I remember having to wear mismatch gear just so I can be optimized, but had to make a macro for when I go into cities I didn't have to wear it. Haha!

I've always hated the concept of "town gear". Takes up unneeded inventory space.

Yes, I look forward to a Dev response in regards to this. Been a popular topic for quite a while now.

No we don't need this. We have earrings, rings n chokers already, don't need more crap that can't be added onto macros that offer the smallest of specs and fullscreen mode won't allow to see it all in its glory. But I can understand, I have fashionistas in my ls wanting me to wear the stuff the gear they buy for me (none of it useful) all because it "looks good" ummm yeah this isn't Hello Kitty World....

All of which (Rings and chokers) are itemized giving no real choice either.

The macro part i'm not quite following so i guess /huh

You say you understand, and people give you cool looking stuff that is useless, yet this suggestion would make them atleast somewhat useful for you to choose how your character looks.

As far as Hello kitty online, of course its not. Its FF14, however we do have kitties, and i do say hello to them...online...

If your fine with whatever they throw at you (on you) then more power to ya. Personally i prefer in any game i play to not look like i rolled out of bed, into a pile of laundry, and then set out for adventure!

I'm not a fan of people going into battle dressed in something that looks like it'd last 2 seconds..
I'd actually love a version for just around towns an things but na, not for combat, kill the immersion for me seeing someone in a pink tutu tanking.

So as long as we can toggle it on/off so we just see peoples gear I'm fine with it..

If you restrict it to only equipment your class/job can wear and not let you wear seasonal gear, then it wouldn't be a problem. This is Final Fantasy, how many main characters dress themselves in clothing they wouldn't last a few seconds in?

True.
But then why not go down the path of having the style of armour having zero effect on stats.
Making the sats based 100% on the components used, so that you can make your armour look like any your class would wear (excluding AF and some hi end looted gear), but have stats appropriate to its level and quality?

That would also be a huge boost the the economy with people wanting most likely several styles all with end game mats.

I like the OPs idea, although I question whether or not this would be a good thing for my inventory space ... If they are going to have vanity gears with no stats, I would hope that those items would be in a separate inventory tab or something.

Well, yeah. It would also encourage people to do multiple events, and even old content to get a specific set of gear together.

Mentioned Vanity slots in a thread about reasons to replay/enter mid level instances. Still would like to see Vanity tab/slots etc of some kind.

I like this idea, having vanity slots means that i'd be able to wear whatever I like without gimping myself in the process.

I'm all for this. It's a staple in mmo's today and its one that needs to be in FFXIV. Having the ability to modify the way your character looks without sacrificing superior stats is becoming a staple in the mmo genre much like running dungeons/instances.

hahahaha I talked about this in another thread! Please, devs, do what Buttons says. He knows what we ALL would love to see and it wouldn't harm anyone.

With his idea, we can really look like final fantasy characters, instead of a generic MMO's nightmare...

Wow still no response from com dev, I would like to wear Vanya set on my WHM .. can I have that .. lol
