What now SE ? any update news about FF14 ?
Tanaka posted on the XI forums saying they've held a meeting and are still discussing the possibilities. "Please give us a little more time".
I'm laughing at these people saying if SE doesn't bring the game back up soon they won't play anymore. I call bull**** on that, I bet within an hour of the servers coming back up most you guys that "left" will be back on. Anyway I don't know why you guys want them to hurry and turn the servers on, considering most of you b**** about there being no content. Do you guys want to complain about no content that badly?
Complaining about not enough content got nothing to do with people wanting to get back to game.
With more content, people knows that they can enjoy the game longer without feeling bored.
If SE take it positively, reviewing on people's complaint is also a good reflection on how the game can be improved.
I just want a update so i know if i should go to bed lol
I'm not gonna lie, Sonic, that is mildly entertaining. Several players who constantly bombard the forums with nothing but negative comments about the game can't wait to get back to playing it, so they can start saying how bad it is again. It's so bad of a game, they can't wait to play it. amirite?
yea i know lol im more curiose about an update then sleeping. Not really tired just super bored and tired of refreshing the lodestone every 5 minutes. I think im having withdrawls....j/k...sorta. Well guess ill go play ps3 and keep my fingers crossed.
no news good news i guess, if it was to stay closed they already knew it I think.
I bet we will get a update in the next 8 hours ;)
what time is it in japan? wouldnt another 8 hours be the 23rd over there? im not sure the time zone difference but they said we would be updated on the 22nd so im hoping its sooner
its like 4:30 pm right now. Work day is about to end, assuming they work 9-5
Assuming this post is correct, I'd say the odds are slim at this point and predicting one of two things:
1. Servers will still be down, however they'll have a date set to have the games back up.
2. Servers will still be down, and another date for another evauluation.
Maybe SE is still waiting for TEPCO reply regarding them opening up the server without knowing
TEPCO use the ignore/block function...
Let's just see what happens lol
Im scare that they are preparing a final letter from producer and president. They would have already know if the server are ready or not to be back. What are they talking about, what take so long? /panic
Said it before will say again. Tokyo is too close to the 4 damaged reactors. This means it is very likely that we do not see any activity until the government gives the all clear, that is likely to be several days after the reactors seem to be stable. Then once an all clear is given there is still allot of work to be done, clean up, and accounting for the 450,000 people. Ok assume every one at SE is ok and accounted for and their families are ok too. Assume that is true and we are just waiting for an all clear to power up. The next trouble is server recovery. Was this a rush shut down or a power fail? Chances are good a reboot will take several days in itself.
Seriously people. Places struck by disaster take more than a few days to recover. Try a 2-3 years maybe more. This isn't a light switch. Hope for the best, hope every one is ok. But also try to be respectful of the Microwave that is Japan at the moment. Give them proper time to get their country back together.
someone's probably already said this. but i didn't bother reading all 19 pages... but they should have the servers in more then 1 location. for example. Western Australia is a very safe place. and it'd be great to have the servers here to reduce my LAGGG!!!
18.00 in Japan now. OH YEAHHHHH!! dinner time.... itadakimasu!
who's know? the world today can have snow in Vietnam
Move them to the UK... We're in the middle =p
Servers should really be in multiple locations worldwide, I get its expensive and with the current state + amount of players that FF14 has it seems pointless, but you can't expect to get a top mmo without preparing for one
That article has absolutely nothing to do with SE, considering that they're talking about "PARTS shortages". The Japanese industry has been disrupted for a while, and the supply chain needs time to restart.
A server farm goes on electricity, not parts, it's not an assembly chain.
Should really read articles beyond the headline
No.
Even MMOs that have multiple server locations worldwide do so only because they have different regions served. In the case of a disaster that hit the areas of the servers, that regions would have to shut down anyway, simply because you can't just move operation of a whole region to another server farm by snapping a finger.
I don't think multiple location of servers is needed. XI had consolidated servers as well and only now came offline due to a natural disaster. These are rare occurrences, hardly placing it at the top of the priority list. The added cost equates to an unnecessary insurance policy.
Besides, more blame for the server situation could be placed on TEPCO rather than S-E, as they missed inspections at at least one plant that could've helped to avoid (or at least mitigate) power shortages and reactor meltdowns.
Roll your eyes all you want. I read beyond the headline, and the story. The assembly chain refers to manufactured components, in which some of the critical steps occurred only in Japan. Let's think, what do the machines that handle these highly sensitive and exact operations run on again...oh yeah, electricity. The same thing as S-E's servers. So, I think we can draw a logical conclusion that if these plants have to extend their shutdowns (in an industry that eclipses the MMO market in both GDP and worldwide economic impact) than S-E will have to extend their shutdown as well.
Should really read articles beyond the headline, and then apply that information in a critical way.
I doubt "applying that information in a critical way" means assuming that a whole supply chain could be even slightly comparable to a server farm.
Even if the first manufacturers in a supply chain for electronics (semiconductor manufacturers) were to restart production today (and nothing said that they didn't restart already), it'd take at least a week for the finished parts to reach Sony's assembly facility.
There are no parts that need to reach SE's servers. They just need electricity, that by the way, they already have, considering that the Shibuya ward has never been part of the rolling blackouts.
While the article linked is a matter of lacking the physical means to restart production, SE has those physical means, and the restart of their servers is just a matter of a corporate decision.
Not saying they will decide to restart the servers, but you're comparing apples to oranges, and applying to SE a situation that simply doesn't apply to their business type.
Did people even read the article? It talks about companies being forced to suspend production in their factories because of lack of component supplies.
This doesn't concern SE. From what I can understand, the area SE is located in is not affected by the scheduled power cuts and is mostly stable. This doesn't mean that they should restart servers immediately though, they should take as much time as is needed.
Yes, they are a business and as their customers they have certain obligations towards us but national interest comes first. I'm sure they know what they are doing and what needs to be done.
Priorities, people.
