Getting the "moetrash" option would add more variety than sexy chick with animal ears which you are already playing.

It annoys me that people are trying to change Viera into something that is not Viera. Those stupid bunny things have as much in common with a Viera As an Au Ra has in common with a lala. I don't think this little bunny things were ever on the table considering they had concept art for Viera as a possible playable race in heavensward. They looked like actual Viera in the art.

the hummingway (aka the namingway) is the small bunny originally from final fantasy V and the concept of the more animal 'cute' version of the 'new race' was named the hummingway viera concept from a few years back, that's why people (like myself) bring them up now and then, because all we know is yoshi had a bugs bunny shirt on when talking about it meaning a small chance, to use a meme "your saying there's a chance" we could get what some people think viera is (fran fran and more fran) other types of viera (foel viera, rava viera, and ff12 revenant wings viera) or the hummingway

Aye, i agree completely. Viera were never a loli race, nor were they ever moogles. So far the dev team has been faithful to previous series in their FFXIV counterparts to Bangaa, Seeq, Worker 8, gear, ect... Now we see Machinist armor reward from the final portion of Return to Ivalice to be a 100% recreation of Balthier's set from FFXII... Why would Veira be treated any different? Here's to hoping we get Viera as close to FFXII as possible.

Well, i gotta throw my hope behind them being the tall amazon like viera and not the "smol slut" short viera.

We have Miqo and Au Ra already for the smol sluts, we don't need a third.

I just got a lot of people in my discord calling the humming way the Viera. They really think they are going to be the new designs for the Viera and it is really getting to me. I have wanted Viera since 2.0 and am on the cusp of getting them. But they will not stop with this hummingway is the new Viera design stuff.

ah i understand you then, yea if they are pushing that hard then i get why it can annoy, personally i would love the hummingway but i aim more for the more 'unknown' viera types (i'm also mainly waiting for the waves of disappointment from people going "it looks nothing like fran")

Yes I will change from au'ra to bunny girl.

I would love for you guys to get another smaller cute race. It would be fantastic. I just don't want the race I love to be overwritten with small fuzzy bunnies. That being said I apologize. It's just so much frustration leaking out. On the topic asked. Yes I will be fantasiaing to a Viera. I'll probably change all my characters to them.

What would really add variety is making a short race that isn't another moe blob/potato (think Tolkien dwarf, or Rocket Raccoon).

Oh I'll definitely tell you once I get started on it again. From what I can remember where I last left off on my Ps4 version I was just escaping the airship Shiva(?). It'll probably take me awhile to get towards the ending but I'm going to definitely enjoy the ride as I explore through it again!

On my old version I was well past the part where had to go save Fran's younger sister in that plains area where that one beast tribe(?) with the giant horns lived. I think that was one of my favorite races/beast tribes in the game as I enjoyed their lore alot and loved hanging out with them whenever I could! I hope I get to see them again in FFXIV though. ^^

Are you really far into the game after restarting it some couple months ago? :D


Also, what do you think if the MIST were somehow made into a new job class for FFXIV?

On the flip side the other half of the community wants to reconceptualize viera as "Amazonian power lifters as tall as a tree, built like an ox, dimorphic like hyenas, legs of a wolf, dressed in skimpy leather, oh and bunny ears too" which would probably look as startling as it sounds. The cuter concept art is actually much closer to the design used in the majority of the series. While the main reason people are obsessed with Fran is because her depiction was gratuitous fan service with no apparent context. That's why I have way more faith in the developer's art department and their continuity editor getting things right than the community.

You can just compare the original to the cuter concepts and you can see the connection. So people that prefer the cute concepts aren't trying to change it into something it isn't at all.

If it's different enough from what's already available, yes. New is fun.

I will change if they are not a short generic potato like the lala or giraffe like proportions like the Elezen. Somewhere in the middle and I would change.

I hope they make elezen/roe level tall fierce vieras instead of more copypasted pint-sized moeblob waifus like they did with au ra. Or best-case scenario, make them like highlanders/midlanders so we can have both options!

Well Fran is 6'2, which is shorter than the shortest female Roegadyn (that's excluding ears, of course. I imagine ears will be in different positions depending on the head gear, either the clipping hell will be worse than the Au Ra horns and tails in general).

No idea if someone mentioned or not, to lazy to check all posts. But I am fairly convinced the "guest" character that will appear in the next Ivalice raid will be Fran. I expect tall Viera as everyone knows them. The best example for a race that has been introduced 1:1 are the Bangaa's with previous Ivalice runs, even the Nu mou look very similar too as we know them. There is only one slight chance that we will get small Viera (like people posted already) and that will be maybe the sub-race to Viera, Feol. This is all just a prediction, but knowing they said "Balthier wont make it but someone else instead" is a hyper hint.

Also no, I'm not changing since they aren't going to be as goofy as male ro's.

I know a lot of people are looking forward to this new race and it has been easily one of the highest requested races, but man, I couldn't have been more disappointed by the "announcement". ='D The game already feels like a Furry Waifu simulator at times. Often I'm the only Hyur male in a Trial, with the rest being female Miqo'te. Now those cat ears will be replaced by bunny ears.

I do hope viera are a good in between of Au ra and Miqote i like both but Au ra can be too grumpy looking and Miqote always have that smug look (unless your grumpy face 4)

I know how you feel Zakuno, im biting my nails till the official reveal :/ I really dont want them to mess this one up,been wanting this since i first got to that Akihiko Yoshidas character creation DREAM screen 4 years ago (alsmot 5 now) it was one of the major things for me to try FFXIV.

Lets keep this up guys so they actually stay truthful to the original ones! Maximum Effort!

As much as I'll miss my femroe, Viera has been what I've been waiting for all this time. So as long as they're at least somewhat imposing and not cute and flimsy, sure, I'm switching.

I really wonder what is the Japanese community feel on this. They are super protective about this kindda stuff but also very eager for waifu stuff too :/ This is making me very nervous lol

Pretty sure they'll be taller than high lander but shorter than elezen/roe and just as slim as aura female. Which will be ugly :P

Best of both worlds would be one XII style race and one Feol style race, but we won't know for sure until the end of 4.5x. That's a long time to be on the edge of one's seat.

I said before in the main Viera thread that if only one type is represented I hope it's the XII clan since that seems to be what most people want... Just holding out some hope that there will be something for me too. Even Miqo'te have bulky arms and muscular frames so I would be happy to see a truly cute race for males that isn't potato.

I would expect the ears to be placed so they can use the same headgear models as Miqo'te.

I would love to know that, too! I am really nervous about the cute artwork..i would be happy if we get both but personally i would be heartbroken if we do not get the Viera from ff12... for me, that is what a viera is supposed to look like...elegant and fierce. I loved that they took the stigma of "bunny-girls" and created something special with fran and her kind… not the typical bunny-girl.

only if they are small and have more bunny features than human features.

Would be cool if they went the hyurian route with the tribe selection.

Have a cute/small variant, and a tall/strong variant.


Better than continuing the current trend of "different skin/fur/horn color"

Oh snap. You are right. lol Eghh... That representation of Viera male though looks too Hyurish (I think even more Miq'oteish), short (though there's nothing you can compare it to to see if it's actually short) and has no iconic feet, makes me very uneasy.. hopefully it's just an initial or just for fun concept. Perhaps it's just the art style... personally I prefer the other concept art from the Tokyo Fate.
