He doesn't mind us going crazy, just not too crazy.

I was concerned about the NDA on that (I'm not in it).
To be fair, the mainstream MMOs mentioned in this thread have their story. One's own preference on mainstream influence, presentation, theme, and gameplay will determine how these stories flow to that player.
I think for those still into the single-player gaming experience, Final Fantasy XIII-2 should serve as a good peacekeeper between the announcement and the release of future FFXIV patches.
Now that I'm paying I fully expect Alchemist, Culinarian & to a lesser extent Goldsmithing to finally get finished and implemented in 1.21. The whole color thing was good and all, but the crafting system is still in the same lopsided state it was put into on 1.19s release. My main craft is or was ALC, so I've been dying for info for more than just 2 months lol. If any info on this has been posted already I'd appreciate someone directing me to it ^^.
Game can be discussed. There are certain restrictions on what you can do regarding posting videos and screenshots (you need to place a copyright Sega statement and a notice explaining that the game's in development). Otherwise we are free to talk about the game. Are you in it?
Was this "information coming rapid fire" meaning the letter from the producer or am I missing something here? Did I not see something in 1.21 notes that was new and exciting? Or was the Valentione's Day that's been hinted through the achievement having already been in the game the surprise? Not to sound jaded but the lack of detailed information on the jobs, the dungeon, the housing, the recipe changes, etc is kind of disappointing when we were told this would basically be a information packed week. Or that's what I got from it, sorry if I misinterpreted it.
You got to hear the patch was at least a month out (If not longer) SE obviously doesn't want to blow it's load ultra early. Despite what community reps say the Dev team probably changes their mind about what to say to us often I think. If they told us everything this week then what would people do for the rest of them besides complain.
Rapid fire is something of a subjective phrase.
Now that there is a release window, we know when to expect information to pick up.
I'd hazard a guess that we get one more news item this week. Probably Friday so we have something to chew on for the weekend.
Next week will see about the same amount. The next week things will pick up to almost daily and finally the fourth week of the month will be patch time with a few extra days spilling over to a fifth week for a "still got the patch out in February" buffer.
Expect the bulk of news to hit from the 13th to the 17th.
So what was the thing that wasn't hinted at or announced yet? The delay of Hamlets? Not trying to be sarcastic here, just wondering what I missed considering I haven't seen any new information this week.
