They don't even have to buff SAM, just nerf the rest :D

People who complain about housing being "inaccessible" need to toughen up and play to win like everyone else instead of incessantly demanding the devs change things any time they encounter a hurdle in the game and can't be bothered putting in the time and effort to jump it themselves.
This may not be an unpopular opinion. Maybe the whiners are just louder than everyone else.
Since when was VIII milked so hard? VIII never received a sequel or prequel or CG movie... ?

Would you mind elaborating on this statement? More specifically, what is this "play to win" attitude that you speak of? I own a house but fully sympathize with the frustration people have regarding housing situation. From what I understood, housing being "inaccessible" is not due to people's lack of ability to get the money to purchase one. Rather, it's due to shortage and unfortunate server problems such as patch crash or 1h+ queue time. Is it not understandable that they complain about housing being "inaccessible", especially given that they've worked so hard to get the money to purchase one? Frankly the only reason I have a house is most likely pure luck, given how I'm not even rich and play on Leviathan, which is the most populated world on primal datacentre. Many people work just as hard, if not harder, than me to get a house.
Please understand I'm not trying to be hostile. Your statement: "can't be bothered putting in the time and effort" just sounds very.... off to me. Like, I don't understand your reasoning at all.
Don't you know that this community is such an excepting community that they are hellbent on hating PvP just to go with the trend and calling for less development time for it? They are so anti-discriminatory that anything PvP-related is slapped with buzzwords like "elitists", "toxicity", etc.
The irony is so high that I might end up getting hemochromatosis just from reading those posts.
Hien is far more attractive, charismatic and competent than Aymeric.
I really do sympathize with people who miss out because of server instability, and patch crash/server queues are something SE really needs to address. As for the overall accessibility of the housing market, simply having the money isn't enough. It's like saying "I've made it to level x, unlocked the dungeon, I shouldn't have to grind until my desired piece of gear drops, I should just be able to buy it". There's definitely an element of luck involved, and keenly watching the ward listings before getting lucky and grabbing an open plot is part of the process.
There are genuine issues with the housing system that absolutely need to be resolved, such as the obvious land shortage, hoarders, and the server issues that come up when housing is released, which unfairly prevents players from having a real shot at getting a house. The issue I have is with a certain part of the community demanding the entire system be shelved in exchange for instanced housing, saying it's unethical and greedy for players to own houses when FCs need them more, etc.
I sympathize with people who've been screwed over by hoarders, server crashes and long queues, but disagree with the people demanding an overhaul of the system because they can't be bothered being patient and playing the market like everyone else.
Ah, I see... so you are against instanced housing then? I'd reckon that is indeed quite unpopular opinion, but it makes more sense now; thank you for your explanation. I won't delve too much into this as I don't want to derail the thread into a housing topic that will undoubtedly start popping in the near future. I personally disagree with your opinion because I think instanced housing will solve many issues for both SE and players alike, but it's alright! The thread specifically mentions to let us speak our minds without the pressure of conformity. I brought this up simply because I was confused by your earlier statement :)
(1) I love PvP in many an MMO, yet can't get into it in this one. I don't know if it's more a matter of tuning, undermechanics, or aesthetics, but feeling like meandering cylinders with little interaction beyond sapping each other's numeric values just can't hold my attention. I want to enjoy it. I can readily imagine ways it could be changed such that I enjoy it, yet it's only gotten worse with time, imo (save for perhaps ARR -> HW).
(2) Players often confuse external balance (the idea that two (i.e. compositional) choices under a given premise are of equal weight or value) as the ends-all goal of development. Internal balance, the equal weight of choices across different premises (i.e. fights, compositions, and gear loadouts) allowing for more varied and individualized play, is often considered expendable, despite a larger contributor to "fun" -- even if tighter variance in viability is still required thereafter for cutting edge play. Too often players are willing to sacrifice the latter for quick payouts of the former, usually missing both (e.g. by overcompensating for fundamental issues elsewhere by just sticking more potency on already strong skills).
(3) There should be no distaste for the idea that everything amounts to primary contribution and that, as per every XIV fight--by choice, not by inherent need--all fights are completed through damage dealt, that that primary contribution will always be DPS over time. It's just common sense.
(4) Privacy in terms of performance is overrated and need not even be considered a "right". There's no benefit to keeping your poor performance private that is not equally a disbenefit to all you would hide that fact from. The only net change possible, then, is simply the guilt and/or sense of egotism over keeping up the pretense. It's best to just let the cards fall where they do, and limit discussion to improvement or praise, rather than bothering with 'white' or outright lies. (Yes, this is parser talk.)
(5) "Roles" are a misnomer. Specializations is a far more apt term. Just because a tank exists does not free you from the responsibility, when the tank is dead or d/ced and you are in the next-best position to carry it out, of saving your healers or moving mobs appropriately. Not being directly loaded with curative abilities does not free you from the responsibility to keep yourself and others alive, as best weavable to maintain best rDPS when considering that survival.
My unpopular opinion:
Too many people think that they are or should be the sole arbiter of what is right or wrong with the game's design and other players. They believe that everything and everyone should operate to their personal preferences and arbitrary standards. There's too much arrogance, narcissism, and a serious lack of proper perspective within the community. While we are all entitled to our opinions and to express them, we are just players like everyone else and nothing we do in game will ever elevate us beyond that.
I don't like being called the Warrior of Light.
And I kinda wish the Garleans actually got some points on the board with their armies. it seems the only times they and their magitek do well are when some backwater eorzean is controlling them, most often they end up defeating themselves, or act like card carrying villains, like Master tactician Zenos and his many fails.
My unpopular opinion
I think the game should raise the bar a little and stop aiming to the lowest common denominator in terms of difficulty
And steps of faith was a interesting fight and I would like to see more like it
In the next expansion they should add a new element to Black Mage. I still think a Water based spell is possible if they add a gauge add-on for the current gauge BLM already has for it. Keep using Fire IV and Blizzard IV to fill up a special gauge and when it's charged you can do something that is like a Dual Cast where you combine Blizzard IV and Fire IV together to make an even more powerful (potency) Water attack. I think it would be cool. It would change things up a bit for BLM.
I feel this is a bit unpopular because I've never seen anyone complain about the Black Mage spell elements before.
As someone who works in business let me tell you exactly how this meeting would go:
We made X $$ off mog station. It only cost pennies. The ROI is through the roof. Shift resources away from dungeon dev, to make more mog station stuff. Dungeons aren't getting us that kinda money and are costing too much dev time.
They'll reinvest it sure, it just won't be into the gameplay. That'd be what's called a BAD business decision for the consumer (good for the investors, #1 driving decision to any publicly traded company, which SE is).
I have a team of WoW raiders (all former top players) who'd love to try out the raiding content in this game with me, but honestly don't have any investment in the FF universe or characters (I do). We'd love to play together and try something new, but the game's barrier to entry for the type of fun they'll enjoy is far too staggering from both a financial and time standpoint.
They're actually the reason I play Monk. I enjoy having to slip between orbs in Byakko Ex farms just for that tiny potency bump. But I can see why many people don't, and wouldn't mind if the mechanic was replaced with something that would still equally interest me without annoying the majority of players either.
Oh, I can help there! Thanks for reminding me.
I actually liked the 1.0 Thaumaturge concept (with Astral and Umbral spells) as well as Conjurer having all six elemental spells.
Which isn't to say I think 2.0 would be improved by either of those things, but I miss them just the same.
Another unpopular opinion
I think mid air combat and under water combat is fun
I hope square never puts viera in the game and comes up with a more unique race
Also I hope the male bunny suit never sees the light of day or if it does it's a full easter bunny type costume.
I honestly don't know how anyone would consider this unpopular, but SE needs to do much more to reduce the skill cap on classes, and condense combos into one button per, have more skills "upgrade" rather than adding still more button bloat, and do much more of this by 5.0 at least.
FFXIV suffers from serious button bloat, and classes are much too difficult to master compared to its competition and its hurting the game.
My unpopular opinion is:
If this game had lightsabers and based on a galaxy far far away it would be perfect... :p
(Don’t you dare mention swtor... no don’t even go there...)
More seriously now.. the 2.5s gcd still bugs me a bit, used to it and I understand why they use it... but still ... :p
SE should stick to gender exclusive outfits and not work on making them accessable for both sides.
While I welcome their effort, it means there is less being done for new stuff and the few costumes that are locked out on each side shouldn't be a reason for people to have their jimmies rustled that much.
One side will always have more.
We are two expansions in, there should be enough for every taste.
My second one is that, the main story is pointless and cringeworthy altogether, if there would be an option to skip it entirely and grind i would do it.
Sadly you cant.
I know the story is maybe the thing that brings people into, but i just simply dont care.
Playing on flat design, we good, them bad, just makes me wish to enjoy the empire and cut these stupid faces into the pieces. I truly hate the story and half of the "good guys" in it, its linear and banal it actually makes you hurt by just reading all these "dialogs".
Give us an option to join empire, so i can mop the floor with that **** lyse, thx bye.
Not really based IN-game, but - I really dislike the XIV subreddit. It seems like the overwhelming majority of posts are just screenshots or memes.
This place is far from perfect, but at least some conversation can be had. :X
People need to stop fussing when it comes to how the characters of other players look like. It makes me feel sad for those that feel offended when they see a character in a certain outfit, an example: if a player wants their male avatar to wear something feminine. I often see this in threads where people are asking for more glamour, even here you see complains about the outfit that other players wear. My question would be: why do you care so much?
Just let people glamour their characters how they want and spend your time doing something more useful.
I've got nothing against the XIV Reddit personally, but they've shown quite an uncalled for hostility toward me and the content I've made and shared. Not entirely, some do like it, and I've attracted more and more of a following with each work, but their going out of their way to ensure there are 2 dislikes to 1 like on my work (not even exaggerating, it's usually 2:1) is a bit juvenile.
Post a funny screenshot though and it's front page material ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Usually the only reason I care, is because I want whatever item it is. Take the Hannish Wool shirt for example, after I first saw it, I wanted it badly. But not badly enough to pay 20m for it. Just recently I saw it for 5m, and since I had just sold a ton of crafter material and had enough for that on me, I decided to splurge and get it. Best decision I've made in a while when it comes to glamour(now I just need to find a good RDM weapon that looks "high society" -esque...)
