This is a lot like people who complain about things that offend them on certain TV channels.... apparently the free will to not engage in activities you find distateful up on your high chocobo (because a horse or goobue would break immersion) is in short supply these days.

The majority of active players do not post on this forum. You are only seeing posts and thoughts from a couple dozen people tops. I'm sure there's plenty of people who want Goobues, but there's also plenty that would prefer other mounts or for SE to spend time on some other content right now.

I personally wanted the ahriman, but this is more.... appropriate for my galkan physique.

I hope these special mounts stay as an exclusive trophy for the pre-2.0 populace though.

I like how the goobue as a mount is "less immersive" than magitek armor. They've both only been in 1 game in the series so far. Somehow regular adventurers getting ahold of what is likely to be a top secret/high class enemy weapon is more believable than taming a wild animal.

So cool but I can imagine the lag now! :3

Magitek has been in a few games -- Goobbues have only been in XI in this form. I believe the "less immersive" argument is because it makes no sense that adventures can just up and ride random enemies that isn't due to their profession -- an adventurer stumbling upon Magitek makes more sense because in FF games you almost always "stumbled" upon enemy technology and acquired it, i.e Highwind, The Invincible etc.

As for not being thematic; were shoopuf's not themeatic in X? What about the truck in VII? Not thematic? We have no indication whatsoever that Goobbue mounts were deliberately designed into either the original Tanaka vision for this game or Yoshi's 2.0 plans.

The fact that obtaining them is restricted to playing during the transitional 7th Umbral era is proof enough that they aren't.

Rather, this is apparently is just cheap red meat to be thrown at the most self-entitled and immature portion of the player base to shut them up while they wait for 2.0 or to give them an e-peen boost when it 2.0 does launch.

There is no comparison to Shoopuf's, Trucks in VIII, or Shiva Motorcycles in FFXIII (as lame as some of those ideas were). Because each of those elements was specifically designed for those games -- not shoe-horned in at the last minute.

It's really a shame because these animations for riding monsters should be used for a future Beastmaster Job, not squandered as an obnoxious trinket for the game's attention-whore population to spam.

That said, if Yoshi-P finds a way to do this where it actually makes sense in the game, and also limits their use, I'll eat my words.

Well hell then, since SE seems to be giving out every stupid little thing people ask for, I want to be able to summon Ifrit and have him change into a car that I can ride in. Because that was the coolest thing SE has ever done. Ever.

I really don't think anyone asked for it till they were revealed to be working on them in that one live letter. It's pretty much intended to be a gift to current players.

Oh yeah, I hated that fat ass bow when it was released but in-game it looks awesome and now it's one of my favorites hahaha

Didn't feel "Final Fantasy enough" is a legitimate complaint, since this game is Final Fantasy XIV yet it felt like a generic MMO with absolutely no FF feel to it whatsoever, if you call that whining for stupid little things in response to what Biggs said, it makes sense why you seem to talk crap about people who like Final Fantasy games.

I can honestly say I never asked for either of those things. I complained that the jobs didn't feel FF enough, but their solution to that common complaint may not be what I intended. I will get over seeing stupid things in the game like a Gobbue mount, but my main contention with it is how they will make it make sense in the story. The opening scene for Ul'dah has one rampaging around the city, so obviously they aren't the safest things in the world to use as mounts. If this has to be, I would rather have seen it used in conjunction with a Beastmaster job or something. Oh well.

Ignoring the stupidity of saying there was no FF feel whatsoever, the real reason you people whined is because they decided to use new jobs/classes/whatever you want to call them. And funny you call the classes in this game "generic", when the vast majority of the established Final Fantasy jobs were based off already established classes, many with little to no originality in them. Sadly, more content will come when the engine and foundation is done being overhauled -- a good deal of content anyway.
