Quite a few do actually. It is becoming more common in medical and tech industries specifically.

In some restaurants give you discount. When I was in high school my friend worked in a restaurant, he got a discount. Yet he got to pay for thr rest. The is the closest one I can think of. Other type or free food is thru memebership. You have to pay montly or annually and you get some type of items (it depedsn on what type of club or program you are subscribed)
Depending on the restaurant, usually the fancier ones that people work there as a career not just for high school, the cooks might get free food(within reason - none of the expensive items like seafood or steaks). At least that's how it was when I was working in restaurants.
Even here in Canada, it is SUPER rare to find a company that does that. Even things like a bus pass to get to and from work isn't paid for by the company(for me a monthly pass is $100CAD - ~250BRL) most of the time.
But that is off topic...hopefully SE has a response soon(and a fix if it was an error).
All I'm tired of, or expose prices as before, or you go far away with your game ..... specially extended time to do anything, with stupid players in dungeons, the game is not in my language ...... . Too many minuses to play it, if you look at the point of the grain of money, then for this game I will not pay, this will be said by 50% of the players exactly .....
Remove the game is easier than you will be contacted, you were wasted time and money .... not all this time I enjoy the game, because the pocket is not badly struck
Do not return everything as it was, you can say goodbye ..... there are other projects that cost my money
Exchange rates are based the currency markets where currencies are bought and sold. While there are supposed to be underlying economic factors used by currency traders to make their offers the reality is currency markets work much like the stock market. This is why you frequently hear about central banks stepping in to support their currencies by buying them up when they fall too much.
Greetings, everyone!
First, I would like to thank you all for your patience while I got information that could be provided to you. I understand this is an important concern for many of you, and had hoped I would be able to get back to you yesterday, so you would not have to go so long without an update. I would also like to thank you for keeping the thread civil and informative for each other. While there are certainly different perspectives, your tone with each other has been respectful, which allows this discussion to continue.
As you have pointed out, we recently made adjustments to how prices in Brazilian Real and Russian Rubles are calculated for Steam users. These changes were made to bring prices using these currencies in-line with the global pricing structure based on current exchange rates. In addition, these adjustments mean that prices now accurately reflect the pricing provided on our other official channels and currencies.
Thank you again for your understanding and patience while I worked to get this information for you. If people are finding additional pricing discrepancies outside of what was mentioned, please let me know, so they can be looked into.

Your correction increased my subscription threefold, My official answer - the game is not worth the money, otherwise I'm going to other projects, it was nice to play with you :)
Delete game
PS.Forgive me, I forgot to say that if there is this company or cooperation with her, then I will not cooperate with them and enter these projects, because increasing the prices while making options for the country where I live is not available. So I will not be interested, for example, if there is no Russian ... just bring to your attention!

And what made you guys decide it wasn't a good idea to warn us before hand? Now the feeling we get is that you didn't warn us on purpose so we could buy your expansion and then feel like we have an obligation to play now that we bought it. Jesus, I don't even want to believe you guys really did this. I really like the game, but knowing that this is how much you care about us just entirely kills it for me.
so…is it possible abandon my current half year sub and take money back?
What amuses me greatly is Square Enix attitude towards FFXIV players. Did you guys really consider that we wouldn't notice this stealth price increase? Did you think that we'd just continue playing without asking questions? Why didn't we receive any warning at least the week before the price change? Why we got an answer only two days after the price change?
That's great. I don't even know what to say. I've already noticed that Square Enix customer service leaves much to be desired, but this goes beyond endurance. I'm quite furious atm. If I knew this beforehand I'd do some serious thinking before buying Stormblood (and being your faithful subscriber since 2013 and paying for all 6 additional retainers).
This attitude is driving me nuts. This is an astonishing example of extremely bad communication.
I think some people can't pay 3x price... especially russians... and especially me
Be at least you advised US Brazilians, Russians and other countries that were affected with the increase in tuition, before purchasing the expansion (example > 1 months before the release), we did not'd spend our money to buy the Stormblood.
Very slutty by Square Enix and steam.
Even blizzard itself does sort of thing to players, they at least warn a lot before making any changes.
Rly ? 890 RUB , 2 months subscription 1780 RUB its price for A class steam game on RU region . World of Warcraft RU - 500 RUB 1 months subscription .Lots of my friends changed legacy accounts to Steam accounts after realese FF14 on steam , for save money , old price for mog up for 1000 RUB . So it sad , but FF14 expensive for me :( EU ppl sorry for my English !!!
I feel betrayed. I predicted Stormblood - after the release it became cheaper. The subscription ends and you get a new price. Could warn about the increase in prices and immediately oust the insolvent players. Having saved them money, but no. We call this "Naebalovo"
SE waited one month to lock the refund option and changed prices without any kind of notification. This disrespect for player base is unbearable. I don't see any reason to play this game anymore.
Good work SE. Why was releasing game in steam with regional prices from start? I have ARR and HW collector's edition. to play with regional prices I buy once more full game for steam. buy SB and now you say - " here your price". Don't you think this is a deceit? If I don't need buy game 2 time for steam- this was normal, but you deceived the players.
Aegrus, Bixillarla price changes is normal, but SE sold game 2 times- it's deceit.
At the same time they DECREASED the price of SB addon for russian users. Nice meme.
A good excuse to return to WoW. Requested to refund for Stormblood in Steam.
That was indeed a really bad move doing it right after everyone bought the expansion with no prior notice. And here I was happy that Stormblood was being sold for a much better price than Heavensward at release (which for us was VERY overpriced for a sub based MMO). Maybe because they already had this in mind?
Anyways... talking about Brazil, since this is now updated to follow the actual currency exchange, does that mean every 2-3 days the sub will have a different value or will the entry sub ALWAYS cost BRL 42.00? I can't say for other countries but since our political situation seems to be a better show than House of Cards for the past few years, that makes the USD value change quite frequently in a short amount of time. It would be good to have a position about this.
I love Final Fantasy 14 from the bottom of the heart, but with this change I see no other way is back to World of Warcraft (translation of the locator language, support and very good ping), and compatible price for my region.
I was loving too much StormBlood, of the will until crying for no more participating in the events:(.
Waiting the expansion release to increase the monthly fee ? This is a new low, even for Square Enix.
One question? Do you understand that this is practically a break of FFIV User Agreement from your side, and big fraud with selling expansion. In FFIV User Agreement you can see pargraph 4.1 that says FINAL FANTASY XIV Subscription Fee rates will be posted at http://sqex.to/ffxivfees_eu, and any changes to those rates will be posted with 30 days’ advance notice and notice will be provided to the Game community and by email to User’s registered email addresses. If you think that exchange steam rates it's another deal...sorry but no. Valve assumes no responsibility or liability for such third party content that's written in paragraph 5 Steam subscriber agreement http://store.steampowered.com/subscr...ent/english/#5 And if you want change exhange rate in steam you need posted 30 days advance notice. What you can say about this?
I'm not a steam user (playing from start of Realm Reborn). But I am Russian. And many of my friends want to drop a game. Triple increace of subscription and 5 or more retainers. Not too many peopple want to pay THAT price, even for your game.
It's about 1/3 or even 1/2 of all who I know will leave game soon.
You can try to calculate how is your profit falls.
Nice one SE, even though I can pay the monthly, I will quit cause all my friends will leave the game. Goodbye FFXIV, 3.5 years were a nice time
I am a brazilian FFXIV-Steam player and I've been following this thread. While this increase on the subscription doens't affect me so bad in a way to fully drop the game, I would like to point that the way everything was done makes me really sad: An uncommunicaded increase in sub less than one month after Stormblood realease. To see that we are not worth a single official announcement is what saddens me the most, this could all be done in a more respectful, dignified way.
I would also like to point that I always recommended this game to friends and was also planning to buy the PS4 version, now I'll be doing neither.
Again, PS3 users was WARNED that they would have to spend more money to play Stormblood. If it was the same with this "adjustment", it would be fine. Sad, but fine. What actually happened is not fine at all.
There is 0 chance of a steam refund at this point, SB basically gave you the full value of a normal game anyways.
Due to the Canadian dollar dropping I have seen the price go up and up and currently and as full time student have a limited disposable income and have had to budget carefully if I wanted to keep playing, even taking a month or 2 off of the game at times.
Brazil and Russia are similar but your currency has dropped even more but had been allowed to pay the same price while SE received less and less so they are 100% justified in asking fair value from you guys.
It really seems like SE was trying to have their cake and eat it too with this one. Many people in other countries wouldn't have purchased Stormblood at all if they knew this was going to happen so the change is stealthily applied a month after release. It's a very, very bad look for SE to not give people advance warning and waiting to do it right now. If they wanted to up the price, fine! But it should have been announced like the drop in PS3 support was.
...Wow.
I understand we aren't numerous enough to cause a significant drop in what SE earns from ffxiv if we suddenly decide to stop playing the game or something like that, but I think we still deserve to be treated with the same amount of respect and courtesy as other players. If there were changes on the base subscription price, SE would've definitely announced it beforehand to all players - why don't we get the same treatment when they decide to change their exchange rate for international players? I'm sorry, but this is just plain disrespectful.
Lots of us have invested money in buying Stormblood, expecting to play it for at least a few months. Why couldn't you announce this change BEFORE releasing Stormblood? I can't help but feel cheated.
I don't even know what to write anymore. This is absurd.
