Nope, some of the mistakes were fixed for the Japanese edition which was published a few months after the English one. Koji has addressed some of the errors in this thread or in interviews, but I honestly wouldn't expect any changes to the print version until/unless we get a second edition (i.e one updated after Stormblood's patches are complete). Even with the errors I still love my Encyclopedia. There are only a few that really stand out when reading it; most of them are fairly minor, such as spelling. Mistakes in these sort of books aren't uncommon-- Bioware's World of Thedas Vol. 1 is a bit infamous in the online fandom for its errors.

SORRY, PET TOPIC.
I've written about this in detail previously (and also in the Localisation forum, somewhat briefer), but the information given in both characters' profiles doesn't match up with what is said in the astrologian quests.
The issues with Leveva's profile were brought up early in this thread (post #18) and got an official response from Fernehalwes (#27) but unfortunately that only addressed one of several points.
Both characters' listed ages are younger than the quest dialogue implies, and the timing of events has been changed. I suspect this may be an attempt to adjust information so it matches up with the apparent intent (or misunderstanding due to conflicting/vague information) that Jannequinard is Carvallain's younger brother, but the quest script as it currently exists in the game makes this impossible. Janne has to be at least in his forties. (Meanwhile the text on p.157 about the count possibly remarrying to produce another heir, makes more sense if Janne is not Charlemend's son, but his brother.)
But setting aside other lore tangles and just comparing the lorebook information and astrologian quests:
- Leveva's age: 16 - she was actually born at the time of the backstory events, "almost twenty years ago"
- her father died a "few years" after her birth - he died in the backstory, at the same time she was born
- (if the timeline IS being officially rewritten, one of the above lorebook statements should probably become correct, but not both)
- discussed earlier in this topic: Fernehalwes' clarification on Leveva's mother (that her real mother died and she was adopted by her aunt) now contradicts the lorebook information that she was taken in by her grandfather after being orphaned.
- Jannequinard's age: 32 - doesn't work with the setting of the backstory events "almost twenty years ago" as he would be only 12-13 at that point. Other dialogue suggests he is currently at least in his 40s, and he seems to be a young adult in the backstory.
- he was in Sharlayan at the time of the evacuation - makes more sense with his age according to this profile (that would make him 17 by this version) but the quest script specifically mentions he was there well prior to those events, and before the Sharlayans' attitude to foreigners changed to be more isolationist.
PAGE: 301 (Bestiary: Elementals)
HEADING: Phurble
Discussed earlier in this topic by someone asking if they were meant to be voidsent (as from previous lore statements) or elementals as listed here, but - not knowing about that previous information - I thought their placement as elementals seems strange. The description at the top of the page says they are "beings almost solely comprised of pure aether" and everything else on the page fits that description, but phurbles appear to be something more physical, particularly as they are hunted (in-game as well as by lore) for their blood and fur. I would have assumed they are beastkin.

It describes Eos and Selene as "two distinct varieties" of faerie - firstly, does that mean that all faeries (not just the player's faerie Lily) take on both these aspects? Unless of course your intent is that the "writer of the book" didn't realise that by observing them! -

Two layers of issue here - the simple one being that if the "parent's" here are her mother and father, that needs to be "parents'" (with apostrophe at the end).
The deeper issue is that it sounds like she's in a 'nuclear family' and by normal Seeker of the Sun lore, she shouldn't be.
The recent Moonfire Faire plotline set us off trying to figure out whether the R tribe in Limsa is supposed to be a functioning tribe or has broken up into individual families, and this description of R'ashaht's family seems to be evidence against it. So if it's an oversight or mistranslation, perhaps it needs to be corrected so we are working from the right facts?
(And some future canon information about how a Miqo'te tribe might function in a city setting would be nice, too.)

HEADING: Nomenclature
The classification of sylph gender doesn't seem to make sense, scientifically. If the "everbloom" gender directly produces seeds/children and the "latebloom" does not, which should be the defining criterion of which is the 'female-equivalent' and 'male-equivalent' gender, then how is it the everblooms that are considered 'male' by the other races? (I went into more detail on it in this thread.)
Obviously it can't be completely written now, but perhaps some kind of "later they worked out they had it back-to-front, but the incorrect labels had stuck" excuse could be made. -

Literally or figuratively, to share a bed means to become a pair.
In English, "to be in bed with" is an idiom for having a mutually beneficial alliance.
So "strange bedfellows" is when such an alliance is unexpected or unusual - that it's an unlikely pair.
(It's a term that Shakespeare made up.)
By extension, any unusual or unexpected combination of things become "strange" or "interesting" bedfellows.
(To the point that you might hear, of a food, "Wow, these ingredients make for strange bedfellows, but it's delicious.")
And then this context is a play on that.

The elementals straight-up used illusions and seals and aetherial wards to make people just not notice it was there for over 1500 years, lol. Gridania was designed to be inspired by a Japanese polis with the Elementals playing the part of the kami. They were supposed to exist everywhere but be strongest and oldest in the Twelveswood. That whole aspect of the lore has been sidelined since ARR with the excuse that the calamity weakened them. And now we've double-booked kami lore with Hingashi, to boot. It's sad, but I do hope they'll come back to it and clean it up one day. The unfortunate reality is that it's just not as new, cool, or interesting as other stuff SE wants to get done, so it never comes up.Quote:

Question: Would missing NPCs be considered errors in the Lore Book? I noticed flipping through the books that we still have no information for certain job quests npc due to volume space in the first lorebook. Currently, there are no entries for Foulques (Lancer quest) and Sanson Smyth (Bard quest, although mentioned in a blurb). I'm noting this just so people are aware, but I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this. Thank you!
