Didn't know about underground. I remember him saying that he wants to go to the moon, but he didn1t really give an ETA for that if I remember correctly.

It was said that it was going to be either flying or swimming, yet they never confirmed they would then do the other next, only that it lost. There also seems to be quite a lack of water from much of the landscape concept art they've released so far. I doubt swimming will be a focus in this expansion considering the environments surrounding Ala Mhigo, though they might allow us to move through water finally as an addition if they choose to develop that.
That Deep dungeon boss has to be Zalera from FFXII :D
He's one of my favorite primals/summons in the series
It's Nybeth from TO, I'm so hyped.

I hope that open world pvp bit is limited to specific areas...was an absolute nightmare on other games with full open world.
Here's another screenshot.

Seems he's even wearing a hood.
I can't say I agree Spawnie, while FF is generally a PVE type of game and less PVP, open world PVP does open the door for some interesting scenarios, such as fighting an S rank, where all AOE abilities can friendly fire. LOL
Or just friendly fire in general. It would make you have to think about what you are doing instead of just spamming the lit up buttons. This most likely isn't what it will be though, they are probably looking at WoW closely when implementing it. That's just speculation though.
With that said, it wasn't something I was exactly waiting for, it also doesn't feel like a waste of time either, especially for people that have been wanting that experience.
And rightfully so! cute is where it's at, You never thought of the reason why Miq'ote was not a "full" furry? instead of just the tail and ears? They know what gets the attention.[/QUOTE]
Their logic on that is terrible. The game has more markets than just Japan. To deny what other data centers want, just because one area of the world wouldn't care for it is sad. The western, Europe, and Australian part of the world has a voice too.
What makes you think people outside of Japan don't like cute things, and/or the current representation of Miqo'te? I believe it's the 2nd most played race after Hyur (and by a small margin). Attractive races are more common in like every MMO, western or eastern. World of Warcraft you're going to find a lot more Blood Elves than Taurens.
Pvp in ff14 seriously flawed SE seem clueless when it comes to pvp n people want them to add open world pvp?
They wont even lift the gc restrictions on frontlines like ppl have been asking about for god knows how long because "lore" reasons meanwhile ppl have to sit around waiting in a 2hour queue ._. so whats the lore gonna be for open world pvp?
You are obviously upset about the current state of PVP so I can't consider this a real conversation, as I am not an expert on PVP in this game. Again, it wasn't something I was looking for.
As far as frontlines is concerned the entire game mode is based on GCs, so there IS lore reasons. It's not like there is GC restrictions for every game mode for pvp, of which, there are a few.
To answer your, most likely, rhetorical question though... Yes, people have brought up open world pvp, as well as a hardcore mode in the past. I also know, quite more than a handful of people, both in game and in real life, that would love to see such things implemented.. I personally don't mind either way lol.
I was simply saying it could create some interesting scenarios and now, additionally adding, that I know a decent chunk of people (more people than I know that want to raid or do extremes.) that would love this type of thing. So in short, I was respectfully disagreeing with your assessment that it is a "waste of resources".
Palace of the dead boss looks like the fiend of earth from FFIV right ? Scarmiglione ? In FFIV he was fighting with an army of zombies on the ordeal mont where Cecil learns to be paladin

To get an open world pvp system we need jobs to be balanced in pvp. Because it will include a lot of 1v1 encounters and we aren't able to face Warriors for exemple ( except healers but since they can't CS it's pointless too). I really like this idea ( aion old player) but ff14 doesn't fit this Well. :P
Didn't Naoki say in an interview somewhere that he would do if possible one expension pack every 2 years and put in it one new class and one new race at least? Or is it just me dreaming, or deforming something I heard ? Can somebody confirm or tell me ?
I get that people want different things to look at but why push for new races? Since they don't want to alter how armor looks on various models, they don't really have too many options when adding more races tbh. I'd personally want more distinction between the sub-types of races, like separate emotes and outfit looks.
It's Nybeth Obdilord (Tactics Ogre. Floor 100 boss of Palace of the Dead). So many hints were given during the Live Letter that pretty much confirm it's him (specifically the music. Notice of Death and Blasphemous Experiment played during the Live Letter and are specifically Nybeth's theme. Fog of Phantom, also a Tactics Ogre theme, played during the 3.4 trailer).
Really, 35mil? That sound like such a insane amount :o
it's actually not that much and probably includes marketing budget. FF XV currently shows how you can sink insane amounts of money without the game gaining one bit from it. like, getting the priciest voice actors, just because you can.
of course, the meta is "triple the content!!!", which is exactly what pr wants you to hear out of it. i can promise you, it won't be like that.
I am not being obtuse, I was responding specifically to the argument made vs furry cat people. Cute is often regarded as attractive, and they were advocating for an unattractive race. While I understand that "cute" and "attractive" are not identical terms, in the context of the argument it was relevant.
The ONLY new race that has been added to FFXIV wasn't "cute". Male Au Ra looked feral and cool, and while female Au Ra could look cute with their petite frames, they can also look disturbing and monster-esque. It all depends on how you make them.
Besides, it's normal that the ONLY new race they've added so far would be more similar to the aesthetic of the races most people play. And by most people I mean both Japanese and Western players, who are equally as guilty of Roes and Highlanders being a minority. There's no mystery and no unfairness here.
They really can't. Not the females. The features are tailor made for "cute".
According to the OP, SE has stated that any new races will be ONLY cute because that's what Japan wants. They didn't mention what non-Japanese players want at all. I think that's silly.
No you cant make the female Au Ra disturbing. (Sadly..) I already choose the most adult face that they had and I still look quite cute. There is nothing wrong with looking cute, but at least give me the chance to look like a adult woman...not someone in her last teen years. I can somehow understand that they might not want to put much work into races that might no be played, but why would you create a new race anyway if its just a hyur with other parts? The only thing that you manage is that some people will fantasia into the new race and maybe a small population that starts the game because of the race. I hope that instead of a new race we will get a lot more options for the existing ones.
Much more scales for the Au Ra, maybe even more adult looking faces. More scars/burns/tattoos in general (why do we have no scars options as Au Ra?) At least maybe I would finally be able to create a character that can look cute if she wants to (clothing..) but most of the time look more adult.
My biggest complaint about open world pvp on every game I played that had it, was you couldn't do main quests without people killing you, on a game like this largely focused on story that happening would be a mistake and a huge turn off. You had to be good at pvp enough to kill those who attack you and even then they came in groups.
Then we simply have a different idea of what cute is, since I've seen some Au Ra that looked quite scary to me *falls over*.
I love their scales the way they are; you can still choose to add more or less scales to their faces. To you, Au Ra might be just hyurs with other parts. To me, they are an entire new race and a very nice and different concept (and they come with new emotes too!).
Non Japanese players are also guilty of playing the most attractive races as a majority. When you are a company adding a new race, you tend to look for what the majority wants, not what a small minority demands.
Indeed. But if the majority is already served with several races, why not serve the nichés instead for a change?
In WoW, Humans are the most popular race by quite a margin - 16%. After that come Blood Elves with around 12-14%, then Night Elves with 10%. After than come the Undead with 8-7%, Orc with 7%, Tauren with 7%, Worgen with 7%, Draenai with 6%, Troll with 6% and then the rest with ~4 or less percent (Dwarf/Gnome/Goblin/Pandaren).
https://www.statista.com/statistics/276315/distribution-of-world-of-warcraft-characters-by-race/
Alternately try Warcraftrealms.com/census for similar results.
If we were to only serve the majority, there would only be Humans and Blood Elves, maybepossibly Night Elves too. The rest would never get something they'd prefer - that is over 50% if accumulated.
Working on a single, new race takes a lot of time, effort and resources considering how it takes a whole expansion just to add one - and I imagine the cutscenes play a major role in why it's not very straightforward. So with all that said, I can understand why they'd be reluctant to spend all of that effort designing a whole new race and pouring tons of effort into it just so 4% or less can enjoy it while the other 96% moan about how SE made such a terrible decision and that it was an awful addition etc etc.
Well, to me it makes sense that if they want to add a single new race (remember that we've gotten only one new race so far!), it'd have to look like something many people would like. If it's also easier for the devs to make, even better! I find it logical from every angle, really.
I just wish people could stop acting as if a certain race were bad -and as if the company had made a bad decision-, merely because it's not of their personal liking, and simply accept that it is of many other people's. That alone should suffice.
And basically this. If they end up adding new races in the future and they happen to be good looking, it'll still be understandable. And so long as many people like them, it certainly won't be a bad thing.
That isn't the complaint. The complaint is that SE does not offer variety, which makes a new addition as such pointless, because it only adds more of the same. Imagine the only new haircuts in this game would be twin-tails, because that was deemed the most popular one of the original ones you offered before knowing which would be popular. You can have longer ones, some are more to the side, some come with a ribbon, some without but all new haircuts would be twin-tails. To you, that would be a good thing. I would find that boring and bad.
And this is a difference in opinion we probably just have to accept.
I'd never oppose more in-depth options that allow you to make a race less youthful or "cute" looking for the record, albeit you DO play the WoL, and the WoL is supposed to be young. So, as nice as it would be to make older looking characters, it goes against lore to do so and I can't blame them for not allowing you to look above a certain age.
I agree that it all comes down to different opinions. I for one believe that the races we currently have do offer variety. They simply don't go into furry territory (not all games do), but a Roe isn't a lalafell, a lalafell isn't a hyur, and (to me) a hyur is not an Au Ra. We have races of all sizes and several age and beauty ranges.
I mean, every person is a whole world and has different tastes, and it's normal for people to wish there was more, or for this or that race to cater to their most personal needs. There's simply no need to go as far as to imply that any current or future good looking race is bad, especially when good looking characters are what you should expect in most Japanese games (and the reason why many people like myself are atracted to them).
Actually, most major NPCs are in their early thirties and older. For example, Aymeric is 32.
While girls can't (which is lame), there are quite a few options for male characters to make obviously aged men. Save Lalafells, who at this point seem to officially not grow wrinkles, as we've seen plently of old men and women Lalas looking exactly the same as their children.
So, this simply isn't true. It just falls back into the idea that most players go for the younger faces, but the option to be a grizzled veteran is there. Except if you are female, bleh.
