3rd quest of this Moonfire Faire is ridiculous!

This is why I refuse to login and do it all, the lack of planning on SE continues to amaze me. True, they can't control players individually, but they could have created this event with the obvious mindset that it could be easily abused. But you know, SE knows best with it's A+ community representation.

I haven't played the event yet, I'm stuck at work, but would a much heavier level sync (assuming it is already a sync'd event) help?

They still might be killed if just sync'd. SE should make them un-killable like many beastman tribe quest mobs are, when weakened they sit there waiting for you to use item on them but you cannot kill them by accident, since they can already do it for other quest mobs why not for these event mobs too? Seems like a simple solution.

They do die pretty easy with a high level player. My 60 bard killed them with one action, but, I found that if I selected the minion and then pressed square and then attack, it didn't kill it so I finished the event doing that. With my alt who is only a level 34 astro I had little trouble with it and actually had to work a bit to weaken it.

After seeing the attitude on my server we dont deserve future events tbh. No wonder we are looked down upon when people purposefully spoil an event for others.

I had this issue today on my server. One player got super pissy about it, threatening everyone lol. I had to use auto-attack (while being quick about it) to keep the bombs alive and capturing them.

This particular leg of the event is not synced. The Bygone Bombards are open-world, Lv.30 monsters that everyone has equal access to. So having a bunch of Lv.60s come in and one-shot stuff.. was inevitable. Even having a dozen people doing little damage all trying to claim one at the same time can easily kill it too quickly for you to use your item.

The FATEs afterward require you to be on an NPC-provided elbst, where their attack does 10 damage. With how many people were present when I was there (30-50?), the scaling was fine; solo I was still getting Gold on both FATEs.

I managed to get my 3 on my low level NIN through a bit of luck and a lot of dagger throw spam but it was NOT fun.

Reporting from Excalibur, I went through the quest a few hours ago, in the early afternoon (local time, I live in Italy).

While there was a lot of people around and about, most were cooperative and relaxed about the event, sharing information and quips about sentai lore while waiting in between FATE instances. It was crowded, but fun.

I can confirm the third subquest is still a bit tricky because of how fragile the bombs are, but I didn't run into any griefing and I was able to complete it by toning down the damage, activating the net as soon as possible. Auto-attack seems to work nicely, otherwise I'd suggest to use a low-level ability or a dot to get the target down to the required amount of HP.

I might try another run later on, at a different time to see whether the situation stays consistent: at least that's what I hope after reading what happened elsewhere.

Note: we also did help with It's Not Lupus to speed it up (and make the zone safer) as others did on other servers. Those clippers tend to drift into the final FATE's area, especially when bombs spawn near the border...

I seem to have made it through catching bombs during a quiet part of the morning. I've had the opposite problem on the FATEs though. No problem getting gold on the first but 50/50 gold/silver on the second. But yeah, it does not look like the FATEs scale well to large groups of players and aspects of the bomb catching quest are a bit tunnelvisioned.

I found it much easier to do the fates as a healer spamming medica/whatever else you have. PLD flash works as well.

Trying to get credit even with a full party was fruitless until I did this. It definitely feels badly designed.

It's a tough design problem because you want open-world stuff in an mmo instead of instancing everything, but you know a large part of the playerbase want to do new quests as soon as they are available.

The old zones are also very small and they are unable to make event things spawn over a very wide area without interfering with other existing fates, quests and enemy spawn points.

The most obvious thing you could say is don't make any open-world quests where the goal is to keep enemies alive. People can unintentionally kill the enemies causing delays for everyone, or worse a bad person can deliberately stall all players' progress.

Just hope they'll extend the event by the number of days it takes to fix it.

You can't create content in online games expecting people to play nice. Quite the opposite actually, always gotta assume everyone will be selfish and uncaring when you create content. Gotta account for that.

Hmm, I hadn't thought of trying to get credit outside of the main design method (splashing water.) I'll keep that in mind for when I go back in.

Balmung has a huge group of them just sitting there at all the spawn points and AOE one-shotting the bombs. One of them is even sitting there all "you can't prove that I am because I don't see the quest D:"

It's really frikken pathetic.

Made me laugh how many people were spaming to report me, even attacking me cause of my name. The salt and rage is real in this event, everyone is like pringles right now.

It may have been unexpected somewhat if they had more faith in the community.

On Tonberry (JP server), after the initial chaos it got organised into a queue. It was quite heartwarming to see the community step up to assist. I'm sorry to hear that on some servers griefing was rampant.

JP and EN players were both helping coordinate. Some of the organisers stayed over 6 hours coordinating the queue. Managed to clear the queue 3AM JP time. No griefers. Everyone did their thing in batches of 3 - 4, thanked everyone and left. Some came back to help take over the shift.

Those having trouble were assisted out by helpers to explain or help them tag and soft auto-attack them down if they didn't have low level gear on hand. Other helpers were broadcasting the details to the rest in the queue so they knew what was coming up (e.g. gear down if needed; capturable @ <50%; etc).

The best way to fix this event with as little programming as possible is for them to simply make it so that the bombs do go below 1 hp. There's already several instances of this in-game and I'm sure that this will probably be the change that occurs.

I wish forming a queue would resolve the issue of people killing the mobs but it doesn't. The same person has been doing it all day and has been reported by countless people for breaking the game rules. The GMs are not doing their job on Odin.

You'd also have to allow them to be captured by people that didn't tap them. You'd just have people tapping all the mobs and standing there taking little damage.

took me like 4 minutes, did it as archer, auto attack 1 time then use item, don't be greedy and run to the first enemy that spawns, wait until enemy appears away from the other players who are all chasing the first enemy, it also helps if you don't transfer to a popular sever because you think you are too cool for others.

thought waiting a few hours the coming back would be a good idea, seems a white mage has decided to spam holy. nevermind then lmao

This is the kind of thing that used to happen in XI. I think the NPC quest was the first time I saw it happen. People cooperated back then. My coworker says he would totally jump this line and I said that's because he's a WoW player. It was a cheap shot but he agreed.

Edit: ninja'd above. That was absolutely the line. If you jumped it, forget about anyone inviting you to anything for a while. Name shaming for that was acceptable.

Well I was able to finish it by auto attacking as a botanist but the problem was that a lot of people, even after explaining it over and over again, still attacked the bomb after the first person did, which means that either you got lucky and managed to catch it or they killed it before the item was casted..thanks to laggs I somehow missed some after the cast went through. But even if all would attack as a low level or gatherer it would still kill the bomb thanks to the number of people there. Heck I even saw some people with their own bombs that killed them themselves. I really felt the need for a facepalm emote..Sadly people also did not want to create a line because most believed that it was useless since some might go against it and others didn't even listen..

So either some people are uhm a little slow or they are trolling.

Yes we could all wait for it but there are two problems. First a event should be doable with lots of people doing it at the same time because its a bad design if people have to wait for days to be even able to finish it (and having to look at all those nice poses during the wait). And second if even half of the people would do that, it would only postpone that effect since a lot of people would be doing that at the end which would create the same situation again. You also don't need a lot of people that are trolling for this to be hard, one or two are enough to at least make this not easy and fast. And lets not forget that this is the holiday season for lots of people, so now might be the only chance to participate in the event.

Its just nice that this was not only a problem on NA and EU servers since the first post was on the JP forum and its good that they will change it, but still they should have known that something like that will probably happen..really the chance that there are only like 5 people around for the bombs and that all of them will play by the rules is really low. (Not that it wont happen like that) So why not spawn at least more bombs at this place or even more on different places to split the people a little. I mean you need all three bombs for the quest..so even with only two people there it could create unnecessary conflict.

I was also a little sad that you only got one ticket for each of the quests. Depending on the numbers of people, the fate was over quite fast and could give you up to 8 tickets. (Which most of the time I did get :) and only used the mount as a lvl60 SMN) So in the end doing those quests would be way less efficient than the fate and you have to do the quests or the fate because you probably would not have time to reach the fate if you are doing a quest. So it would be nice if they could at least give 3 tickets per quest, to even be a good alternative to the fate.

I think when they go to test this internally they should assign 3 staff to be bad guys and do everything in their power to ruin the event, and then keep adjusting until the team evil can't mess things up.

Yeah I tried to see if I could manage it on my rouge and manage to get a first strike on 2 bombs but they ended up dying to holy's before i could use the item lol

^^^This is what people have to deal with in game right now This person been sitting there for over an hour "having fun", calling people salty and cry babies for wanting to finish that part of the quest and move on.
