That's okay, I like my potatoes salted.

$30 LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Good to know SE has a sense of humor, but nope.
Well no, I wouldn't care, because I understand business and how this stuff isn't necessary, I also have a plethora of disposable income what with this being basically the only game I play these days, so whatever. But you're taking it the extreme and saying they shouldn't put cosmetic things in the game again and just put it all in the cash shop-which is ridiculous and won't happen.
If you don't like it, don't buy it. But I don't want them wasting resources on little quest chains and what have you so we can get it in the game. I'm perfectly fine with this.
It doesn't look anything like the fat chocobo mount. You may be looking at the white fat chocobo from the amazon promotion.
Can we just post in this thread again when the next cash shop mount comes out?
Im usually one to spend alot on optional items but $30 seems a bit on the expensive side for a single mount that i know i wont be riding with another person 24/7 xD
I could less if it two seater, I have a two seater chocobo and never used it. But I'm sure it a coveted item for those that have all their friends playing with them.
Are 2-seater mounts such a prized commodity that they can't "give one away" at the end of a beast tribe quest chain? I have two 2-seater mounts as it is, and I personally don't use them all that much. I would like the moogle mount due to being a collector, not for the additional seat.
Looks rather cute, would rather wait until it maybe goes on sale one day
I too prefer 1 seated mounts though

I must be blind because these two things look nothing alike, except maybe that fur tuft below the face, but even that is more puffed out.
You don't even ride them the same way, and the moogle has several smaller models on the top. It's actually incredibly more detailed then the fat chocobo.
It's not a greedy move though.
It's a way you can further support the game if you choose to. If you don't want to spend extra money, fine, don't, no one is twisting your arm. :P
I realize what the mounts are for. lol. I am also bonded, and have friends that I drag around on occasion....we just typically use our own mounts most of the time. :P
But to go back to the point, why can't SE give out a relatively easy to get 2-seater? Or shooot, put it behind something actually difficult, I really don't care. Just put things in game.
I love the "If i do not like it, it means it´s bad for the game and the industry" attitude.
No, it may be bad for YOU but there´s plenty of people who are happy to further support the game in exchange for pretties.
If you are unhappy with it, well, i honestly mean no ill (as rough as it may sound) when i say that you need to learn to deal with it.
Microstransactions are not going away any time soon and considering how much money they make, if anything, they will be every time more prevalent.
And you guys try try to malign it by claiming that it´s creation/sales takes away from other areas of the game or developing time but the simple fact is that you have no way to prove that.
You malign cash-shoppers the same way the new gen of mmo players maligned outdoor PvPers a decade ago.
"I don´t like it, henceforth it´s evil and anyone taking part in it sucks by will or ignorance"
Your problem, i guess.
And that's why this is hilarious that some people seemingly complain that there's no way to get those two-seaters ingame, but are apparently either willful ignorant about the options aside the cash shop or aren't willing to perform these feats yet still condemn the shop for its practices.
Of course they won't go away and will get worse just like they have been getting in MMOs history. Because people agree and support.
That's not malign it, that's a truth. People that support this kind of move are the type of people that make all these business abuses exist today. If you don't care of being part of that, good for you. But you are.
Creating the mount itself is using resources. The choice of putting it on mogstation is taking it away from the game. They could've put a recolour mount, or a recolour housing item, but no. Even if it was done with "mogstation money", now mogstation is supporting mogstation? Buy cash shop items so you can have more of it in the future? That's not supporting the game either. That's greedy and if you think that greedy attitudes from a company are good and okay then well, again, good for you. At the end of the day you have a cute mount and making the gaming industry worse by telling them that it's okay so be greedy, take out as many things as you can from the game and make me pay more, I'll agree with it. But you don't care. So good for you.
The dissapointing things I find in these threads is any proper discussion is quickly derailed by the hyperbolic people on both sides of the fence.
I dislike the cash shop and therfore will never purchase from it on principle. People don't need to agree with me and my valuation on what should be included in the subscription. I will continue to give my feedback on the system and offer comprises such as shop items being attainable via ingame means as well as purchased.
The market determines if the cash shop succeeds. My only opinion is that they are pushing too far and they are going to wind up relying on the shop to make profits as the subscriber count thins out due to things such as the cash shop.
All those people you keep telling to accept it or leave might just take yiu up on that offer. Don't be suprised when SE starts to reach for wallet more and more often offering less and less in return.
Oh yes you do. Not only on the forums but elsewhere as well. Check out the official WoW "Mystic Runesaber" video on youtube and see how many likes it has versus dislikes. The CS in sub-based mmos is very similar to dlc in other video games. We used to get a lot more for our money but enough modern consumers, for some reason, are perfectly ok with being double or triple charged. Thus these trends of paying more money for less content will continue as they have for the past decade.
It's getting worse, isn't SE making enough money off the YK promotion already?
Thankfully FF14 is not the only mmo on the market and we can look at other trends to see a possible, and probable, end result of the cash shop.
For example in WoW the first cash shop mount was introduced during it's expansion WotLK. Fast forward three expansions later to WoD and the result is that ALL of the unique mounts are put in the cash shop, with the devs even flat out admitting they spent more time and effort on them because they want them to look flashy. Meanwhile what do people get in-game for their sub? Recolors after recolors after recolors of boars and wolves. Even very grindy rep rewards are often just another recolor even when it made absolutely no sense for that faction to award that mount *coughLaughingSkullcough*. I think by the end there were 14 boar mounts which all looked virtually the same and had very poorly programmed running animations too because the devs lazily used a far larger mount model as it's "skeleton"
It was not until people complained en masse and started boycotting the Mystic Runesaber mount that Blizz made a few more unique mounts obtainable in game.
The mentor one, is that two seater?
The recruit a friend ones requires several months subscription payment on an additional account, not cash shop but still behind a pay wall. The wedding one requires purchase of either of the paid wedding packages off the cash shop, it isn't available in the free package. Players don't have much choice with two seater mounts as far as being able to obtain by actually playing the game. It seems to be something SE is using largely as a marketing scheme.
True these are some of the same people that I heard say they dropped $200 on a mount in a different game well good for them for having that type of disposable income. But like I said in previous post anyone seen a trend in mount prices? If continues will eventually be paying $40, $50 for a mount but that ok right cause of the whales that have the money to do it and just call everyone else cheap and poor. (This post is not aimed at the quoted person I just agree with them and wanted to extend upon it)
Yeah, it's cute, but not $30 cute...
And this is coming from someone who has purchased quite a bit of stuff from the cash shop for XIV. I'm not against buying things from there, just against the cost of this particular item. I'll pass. but thanks for the option.
Were you around when the Grove Warden was datamined and contained "something something Blizzard store" in its description? There was plenty of complaints, both on the official forums and Reddit, so much so that they turned around and made it into a reward for beating the final raid boss before Legion's release (either that, or Legion's prepatch). Regardless of that, how is Blizzard's store "very large"? 10 mounts where we have 6 (including the wedding chocobo), 12 pets, same as FFXIV, 3 helmets compared to who knows how many monkey ass helmets and so on on ours, etc. This is over the course of 11 years, while FFXIV is just under 3 years old.
The only major difference is the level boost and WoW token, the latter being beneficial for the game (in my opinion, I know many people who would not be playing WoW at the moment if not for it, myself included), and the level boost is something Yoshida is considering adding our to game (which seems extremely likely at this point) The same arguments made here can be made on that, too. It's optional, don't buy it if you don't like it, it provides funding for the game and so on.
I've always laughed at people who bought mounts on the cash shop, but I've done so inwardly. With this mount, I don't think I'm going to be able to keep myself from openly mocking anyone I see with it.
I'd rather we didn't have a cash shop at all, but if we have to have one I'd rather it remained completely separate. If they introduced this mount as a reward for say, doing 1,000 dungeons, or you could just buy it off the cash shop right away, I would be far more pissed at all the people that got it day one because they shelled out the cash, while anyone that doesn't want to waste their money has to spend ages farming for it.
I still think that a cash shop has absolutely no place in a subscription based game, but having it be completely removed from the main game is the lesser of two evils.
Of course you don't think that content is being cut. You don't care. Why would you? lol
If you don't think that putting things for money instead in the game is bad, then well???? Of course I'm a bit surprised, I can only feel bad that the community accept this kind of thing. Wait for the next mount that costs 50 dollars and is exclusive too. Don't forget the future boosters and leveling potions, after all ~every mmo has those~~.
Oh no, you know, Eifahlwyn, the current f2p model and all their cons exist today because things are that way, not because people support it and make it grow.
I don't see many (if any, but the thread is 20 pages long now, so I might have missed them, if so) "whales" calling people who don't want to purchase Mogstation items cheap or poor. It seems to be a disagreement regarding the principles and future of the game.
Laugh away! I'll be laughing too, as I soar thru the skies on him, because funny mount is funny.
