petition to make leveling optional (ex. auto-50)

They call games like that action games...there's a lot out there, so please leave FFXIV out of it, ty :D

Not sure if this was mentioned or not but I'll say it anyway... Especially since I refuse to read all 11pages of this.

The Grind is necessary from a game play perspective. It isn't necessarily an "omgwtfbbqAMAZINGGGG!!!!111oneoneone"
but it does accomplish two very important facts necessary to be able to do endgame content successfully.

1. It teaches you to play your job class.

2. It teaches you to play with others.

I can't tell how how annoying it is having someone at level cap who doesn't know how to play with others or their job class for that matter. I've experienced this in other games- it really is something you can't get away from. I mean, you'll run into idiots everywhere but I don't want to have that be server wide.

I cant believe someone would actually suggest something so stupid. I thought the PL was bad. I, and most other players who are playing because it's FF and not just another PC MMORPG, would probably quit playing the instant some bullcrap like that is put in.

To Anapingofness: I would "like" your post 200x if i could.

I think Azury's ideal MMORPG is a clock, a dancing catgirl, a chat box, and low-tempo JPop music.

This is my favorite thread, ever. Thanks for trolling everyone, and proving a very valid point.

Everyone in here raged against the 1-50 button idea, and I bet 70% of those same people turned around and posted "keep PLing!!!1" in the PL complaint threads. Way to go ya hypocrites. I hope SE rolls back all of your exp.

Sort of a trollish way to go about it... but if it gets the message across that the PL'ing rate is pretty freaking stupid, then that's what counts.

I doubt even Yoshi expected this... regardless of what he's saying. If he does come out and say "yeah I know and I'm fine with it"...?

Then all I could say is, he's out of touch and apparently not a student of what happens in other MMOs when their population becomes too top-heavy... due to the attrition of age, or out-of-control PL'ing, and it's gonna come back to bite him in the ass.

The bottom line is that PLing is an exploit (granted, it was dev team approved - and we called that this would happen before the patch) that is being taken advantage of. Just like with the GL exploit there are people who are all for it, because they want to take the easy route to 50 (as if there was anything at the end of that tunnel). These people don't care about balance, or the economy of the game. They don't care about whether or not crafters have any reason to make them gear. They just want everything NOW.

I've been playing this game for a year. I played at my own pace (roughly 5-10 hours a week when active). I got my first Level 50 last night in a grind party (not a PL party). I will say that I had a lot of fun on this long road that I chose to take. Leveling from 1-50 is possible without shortcuts, and the focus should be on making that leveling experience a good one, by providing content for everyone along the way (the new Lv15 dungeon is a good step in that direction, but the PLing issue undermines the inclusion of that content at all) - not letting people skip that part of the game all together.

Anywho, if they made this game fun to play, make the leveling feel less grindy, this wouldn't be an issue. I know I have said this over and over as an example,but look at Dragon Age Origins...FUN! And I know it's not an online game, but I think MMO's in general could take notice of what they did to the regular consule game and some how add it to MMO's...then people wouldn't be huffing and puffing over insta-level in a day or year after year grind...just a thought!

they are making an MMO based on dragon age. its called star wars: the old republic.
Bioware was genius in converting that rpg engine to an mmo.

anyway i feel bad that i had to kinda manipulate out this response but i think it worked out pretty well. theres prob at least 15 pages or rage. Should be a -clear- sign that people don't want auto-leveling.

I'm against the PL'ing - especially to this degree - in any MMO, FFXIV or otherwise. I am not a fan of it and hope they do patch it up... sooner than later. I mean, being helped along if you're having a rough time of a couple levels or whatever is one thing.. but PL'ing 1-50 in a day.. or hell.. even a week.. is ridiculous.

Nah pretty sure it came from Knights of the Old republic 1 & 2 both were good rpgs though first i think was better
i see it this way youve already been given the choice to PL or not to why would you need auto lvl this is the same as someone buying accounts just doesnt make any sense

The Idea had died in your last forum page and ppl didnt like it. if you were against the idea you would have left it there and not made a new thread about it. Since it died off the devs wouldnt have seen it anyway. Which would give you no reason to bring it up unless you supported it fully.

Im all for grinding. on ffxi (back in the day) it took months - year to get your first 75 between work - school and other RL activites

I threw out a stupid estimate, but the point still stands. When the OP gets overwhelmingly negative feedback, and the thread that points out that somebody leveled to 50 in one day (and that PLing should be fixed, or removed) gets overwhelmingly negative feedback, I think it's fair to assume that there is some cross over there. Also the only people who would be offended by my previous statement should be the people that it applies to. In which case they're hypocrites. I am just basing this on what I read in both threads. I don't really care if my 70% estimate is really 50%, or 10%.

Yeah, i'm going out on a limb, and say that based on the OP's general post record that the original intent was not sarcasm or throwing one in SE's face. Notice that the disclaimer only appeared after the thread hit like page 15, trying to play it off as a pundit on the amount of anti-PL threads.

In addition, Azury's secondary post that was related loosely to this thread supports that it wasn't intended as a joke.

While she herself may NOT support Pl'ing, it's apparent that she presented a valid point.
