while I would like to believe that might be so. too many people don't read which is why we have multiple threads for this alone. I highly doubt a dev response would stop more from being made.

Now that we know the approximate date when patch 3.1 comes out (around Nov. 10th), and players are complaining about the late Date and even threaten to unsub till November, wouldn't it be a option for the Lightning Event to bypass the time?
To be honest, I too was thinking about taking a break till November, but the Event would prevent me from that step.
I don't want to sound as well as I would threaten SE. It's just a thought, and perhaps there are some other players out there who may think about it the same way.
Sorry for my bad english.
Yeah but people take breaks til the next patch all the time due to getting burnt out from doing the same thing over-and-over and all the grinding. =w=
I do agree with both you and Colorful that they could at least put and event or two liven thing up, if but only a little. >w>
Um... I have the FFXIII-event gear, and I still think it's a lot different to compare 1.x with 2.x. One is a game that no longer exists. The other... still exists alongside its expansion. You can play 2.x without having played 1.x -- you can't play 3.x without having played 2.x.
But at least other players -- who HAVE seen/read that dev response -- could inform the new player of this post and/or link it =D and the threads would be a lot less long-lived ^^
And that changes how? The game doesn't "exist" (I'd say even then, 2.0 is a version upgrade of 1.0, just a very big one) but the items still do. So comparisons are just as valid. Same goes for 2.0 items like the Dalamud minion which is now locked out to people who buy Before Meteor right now. I wanted that item, but tough luck for me: I missed out. I'm not going to whine and make the billionth forum post begging SE.
You are arbitrary putting lines down when they are the same thing: Exclusive items that you got if you were playing at the time and did the requirement. If you didn't you missed out.
Tough luck, please stop acting like children who didn't get their candy.
I think Final Fantasy 13 was the worst, most tedious, un-fun game in the series. I was so disappointed by the on rails approach they did that it tarnished my opinion of Square Enix. What really disturbed me was the lack of control you had in combat which was a basic thing from the very first game.
In light of that I wouldn't mind if never saw this event again. I just pray that Square Enix learned something from Final Fantasy XIII and does not repeat the mistakes they made.
what i see who act as children are those that demand people to stop ask you we live in a word where no harm in asking for stuff. people say there no stupid question. when some respond stop act like child when those he supporting is act like children then maybe he look to his own group before demand those are just asking for fair treat and those are get anger at them already have items.
I think it time I explain how forum on mmorpg work to you. If group people want see a event return they ask for it on forum if they keep asking the dev may put it in. this how forum work forturely we don't see 6 million players ask for stuff all the time
This is not about "sharing" this is about people who missed out and are whining about it. I wish I could buy an original earthbound SNES cartidge new in the box, but I am not going to childishly demand Nintendo to release a new run of that product. People missed out, tough cookies. If it comes back by the dev team's own volition, great, I don't care either way.
There is so much this game offers, go find something fun to do rather than complain that a cross over event to promote a product did not get a fourth run.
Bahahaha failure of an analogy.
I don't make dev decisions... what is there for me to "share"? You act like I am barring you somehow. If SE makes the decision to being the item back, then good for everyone who wants it; but that isn't the case. Instead you have people who can't comprehend the term "limited time item" and in their bizzaro-reality read it as "obtainable any time someone wants it".
Sure, but in the end it doesn't matter, the 1.0->2.0 thing was just a side note of my opinion. The items still exist and it could be argued that SE should bring that back too (which I'd also be against as a person who never got em). In fact some items did come back in the first month IIRC. The "you can't compare" statement is just arbitrary.
Can you... uh, rewrite that? It's hard to read whatever thought you were trying to put down here.
ok when someone want something they post in on forum and wait till respond for the dev.
This thread is still going? Really?
yes it because players are wait for respond for devs. i won't suprise when if this thread lose people interest another player will make another lightning thread a few months down the road
For the love of all things cake, please PLEASE PLEASE for all my sanity... make this event come back! I just started the game when the last one was on and I didn't get my character high enough to finish the event... /cry. I only missed out on the shirt :(
i with you horada
The PC ffXIII-3 version coming soon, he y' will surely be an event to celebrate it, it would not surprise me.
I can't see how your name-calling applies to me. You accused someone of disagreeing with you only because they didn't have the items and were jealous. I replied to show that I disagree with you despite having the items in question. I don't even use most of them, because I don't like the way they look. That doesn't mean I can't sympathize with those who never had a chance to get them, or who were subscribed during the last reiteration of the event but never managed to get to level 46 in time.
Yes, 2.x is an upgrade of 1.x, but while you can log into the game and play without having bought 3.0, you can't log in with just a 1.x copy of the game (though all 1.x owners got a free upgrade to 2.x). The world as it was in 1.x is gone. The world as it was in 2.x is still there, as long as you haven't played through it all yet. Not all items from 1.x still exist; many of them (I can't say how many, since I'm not a legacy player) were 'ruined in the aftermath of the calamity'.
I don't count Dalamud minion as a 2.x item -- it's an item you got as a bonus for buying merchandise. Someone who wasn't subscribed could have bought said merchandise and gotten the minion code -- no way of utilizing it until they got a subscription, of course, but they could still have the code (i.e. the minion). It's comparable to pre-orders, though. If you bought the merchandise (or game) during a certain period, you got the bonus. (Note: I'm not trying to argue that you're wrong, since you're certainly entitled to your opinion, I'm merely explaining my opinion on it.)
Most event items have wound up on the Mogstation after their events occurred in 2.x. The only ones that haven't are the 'crossover events'. Does that mean people are automatically not allowed to ask the devs to bring the items back in some way? People have asked either for the event as it was, or to bring the items to Mogstation (or rather a copy of them, similar to how the xmas gear was a copy of the previous xmas gear, renamed and made unique/untradable), or put them in the Gold Saucer for MGP, or put them in the Gold Saucer together with event-themed Gates.
*cough* Read my previous paragraph, please. People have been asking for an opportunity to get the event rewards, whichever way the Devs decide to make it possible. Yes, some people have asked for the event to be run again, but just as many people (or more) have asked for alternative means. As for asking for 'similar items', I'd love that, but it doesn't help people who want that outfit.
When will the Petition be presented? Or how does that even work?
Sorry, I never had anything to do with a Petition.
I got a bit of mixed feeling on this subject. For one, I actually made and leveled Lightning' Xlll and Snow Xlll and hit 45 before the event is over. It was a very short time frame since I hate grinding, and have to juggle this with my job and other social stuff. So in my situation, I've made exceptional effort in conjunction with the event. Also this event almost feel like a 2.0 legacy event, for people who's been supporting XIV since 2.0, and not just pay enough subscription and you can eventually get it kind of reward.
I mean I'll never ask SE to give me legacy 1.0 rewards despite I want them real bad, just because I think people who's supported the game since 1.0 deserve to have something to show for it.
That being said, I can also appreciate many new players who is a fan of the franchise, a fan of FF13, and only picked up 14 recently.
I think when the PC release of Lightning Returns comes around, they may bring back the event 1 last time.
If people still want these items put them behind the paywall..
I am against the store. but it's here...
If you miss out on an item.. you come in later or just where to lazy to do it the 1st time. They have a way to get the item... it's at the mogstation. So ya...
Oh my god stop bumping this stupid thread already.
yeah, it's called reality, people miss out. The difference is children whine when they miss out on something and can't get their way.
Adults accept that there are consequences with time moving forward and act accordingly.
Do I really lament about the dalamud horn? Nope, it's just one of many cool looking head pieces in the game, I can find another. It simply serves as an example that things are not available indefinitely. I am not going to demand, like some infantile spoiled brat, that 1.0 players give up their unique 1.0 loot to sate some obsessive impulse to have everything in the game.
Check my post history, I did not even bother posting when the event came back, because I did not care. What I do care about is when SE decides to not bring the event back and people whine and complain about it. The FFXIV team is much smaller than other MMO's. I would rather them work on new events instead of revisiting old ones.
They are just pixels, get over it.
Says the person who just wrote a short essay about it.
Secondly, you say "it's called reality". You do realize, this is a video game, right? As in...you know...not reality? >o>()
This isn't some one-of-a-kind, handcrafted, artisan masterpiece, it's coding. While the actual creating the 3D model is time consuming, once it is made, it's pretty easy to plop it into the game whenever, where ever. They probably didn't circulate your horn into 2.x because it would mess with SMN's horned aesthetic and it's a very niche item.
"I didn't do the quest and sneaked behind lv80 enemies who can one-hit you if you did a wrong step, but I want the reward regardless" is how you sound.
Not really
They didn't bring it back as a reward because it was a part of a one-time storyline (the 7th umbral era story) only doable during 1.x and promoted as this since the beginning of that storyline.
You can still get the horn in 2.0 if you have the achievement, it's in circulation and any 1.0 toons who unlocked it can still use it. So, that whole aesthetic argument really holds no weight.
My longer post about raiding was about creating dialogue between raiders and non raiders, sorry if you felt like that was my personal statement of "to hell with everyone else, give me mah pixels." It was about a variety of motivations and challenges that face raiders. Pretty sure I said the reason I raid is for the sense of challenge and story, you should go back and read the post more carefully. If you're going to try and cross reference another post to help prove your point in this thread, at least bother to carefully read the source you're citing so you don't look like a presumptuous buffoon.
Don't you think it's presumptuous of you to assume it's just simple coding fix to put the item in the cash shop or to reintroduce the event?
Lastly, just because this is a fantasy world does not mean it's exempt from real life effects, such as time. Everything has a shelf life, even this game being on live servers has a shelf life. I am sorry if that concept escapes you.
Considering this is an mmo which constantly gets newer subscribers SE can't ever pull that event down to accommodate EVERYONE. that'd be like bringing 1.0 back for the "main scenario that all subscribers got to see" during that time. To have all subscribers always have a chance at all events seems like an unwinnable battle.
Let me rephrase then, it's not in circulation to the mass-public, must the few who played during 1.x. And it's still a niche item. >w>
...What does raiding have to do with the FFXIII items coming back and/or going in the cash shop?
Except, they've already been putting things that have "passed their shelf life" into the cash shop. About 90% of the things in the cash shop have passed their shelf life, yet SE brought them back anyway. Is it really "presumptuous" to assume they'll do something they've already been doing?
I don't know, you were the one that dragged that post into this thread 1st to make some asinine point, t'was not me.
As your "90%" stat indicates, they have left stuff out of the cash shop. So, there is a precedent for both content being retired or brought back. It's up to SE's discretion and they made their decision that this year the event was not coming back. Deal with it.
This guy gets it.
