I'm not gonna bother reading whole thread, but remember that they did this with soldiery gear? First it was with hunts and then later on they added easier way to get it.
Don't wanna do hunts? Then don't do them.

Don't wanna do hunts? Then don't do them.
The thing is, WHY do they feel that EVERY gear set now has to have an upgrade component THROUGH HUNTS?
This isnt even raid gear yet, this is "I just hit the new level cap" gear.
With raid gear, the actual content gave you the upgrade item, while Hunts were later added as an "easier" way to obtain it via "easier" content.
What we have here is completely backasswards. Go do the mindless zergfest known as Hunts in order to upgrade gear from dungeons because it is the only way?
We are currently doing easier, more mindless content in order to improve the gear we get from what is effectively harder content, WITHOUT THE OPTION OF PERFORMING THIS IMPROVEMENT IN SAID HARDER CONTENT!
If that isnt backwards, I do not know what is.
I love the people who are here posting that aren't even level 60 yet. What do you know of hunts outside of the old ones? The new ones are overpopulated and causing shout to be filled with useless nonsense. And when you guys white knight for a game all you do is blame the community. It isn't anyone in the communities fault. If a hunt is designed for a light party or full party and people aren't doing it as it was designed....THAT means....and this may be a shock, it was designed poorly. Game designers/devs need to held accountable for that. No matter how easy it is to pretend they are flawless.
Hunts are terribly designed, I can't believe people are pretending they are good design. Things like this need the community to get together and get it changed, not fight about how it is amazing but we do it wrong.
I think a lot of you are missing the point.
People want to HUNT! Why is that so hard to understand? It wouldn't kill SE to scale hunts HP like they do fates.
Like 80% of the players posting, "You don't have to do hunts, there are other ways" It is so funny. But by the time they actually get to 60 and want to start hunts, those of us doing hunts now will be moved on to Alexander, so they won't have those issues nearly as bad.
Probably gonna get a weapon upgrade and chest/pants upgrade and then just get the raid gear from alexander. I don't really care for hunts and they aren't really necessary.
Make hunts like they are in Witcher III where you actualy have to HUNT something.
Form a party, gather information and follow the trail until you spawn the mob you are after.
Probably dreaming, but it would be an awesome feature if implemented that way.
My suggestion to this problem: add one upgrade item to the loot table of the last boss. 1 out of 4 players will get an upgrade item per dungeon. For trials, make it 2 out of 8.
Easy fix. Make hunts only give credit for the pulling party or alliance. That way only the intended amount of people fight the mob and no one can cry how it was "prepulled". Yeah, less people will get it done, but then we also won't get people saying that hunts are mindless and easy or that the community is toxic. They could also add world bosses that drop goodies and scale up, but if hunts are meant for small parties I don't see why that kind of gameplay should be outright removed. Adding endgame options is a way better solution than taking them away.
I don't understand why they locked the 170 upgrade to 180 behind hunts... It's literally saying that some ppl deserve to upgrade their gear and others don't. On Exodus server it seems only certain groups are going out as full lvl 60 parties and killing hunts before others can join in. Sometimes you get lucky and get a hunt or a couple in a row. But most times its a single party killing it before most can even zone in.
It's making a lot of uneeded contention and causing ppl to harbor resentment against others for having things that they can't readily share the wealth of. SE needs to make a smarter time gate than this hunt BS.
It might not seem like much, but I'd like to see if the dev team would consider having it where Heavensward FATEs could reward a very small number of Centurios Seals, as opposed to GC seals. Lore wise, it makes little sense for the GCs to be rewarding us when they have no jurisdiction in the Ishgard territories, but we already have Centurio rewarding us for tracking down and clearing out assorted mobs.
To give an example, I just got a Gold on a failed level 50 FATE in Sea of Clouds, and was rewarded 201 GC seals. If that was adjusted to be scaled down to something like 5-10 or so Centurio Seals, I feel that people would actually take incentive to do more of the Heavensward FATEs while waiting for DF.
This would also have people exploring the realm, possibly finding A or S Rank Hunts
& open more exp options for players.
Due to the low cap of 500 seals, and the ease they come in compared to Law Tomes, I think it would not be unfair to ask for such a change.
1)Please stop misusing literally. If you're trying to add emphasis to a point then the thing you're looking for is called italics.
2)they aren't supposed to be server wide events. If you show up late, you're supposed to miss it. You're supposed to have good streaks and bad streaks, not just "teleport to x and get free gear"
Any unnecessary tension is being caused by people feeling entitled to something that they aren't, and then getting mad about something that was never theirs being stolen from them.
Tbh, you get seals so quick doing this that everyon will be geared in no time, then hunts will die out.
Honestly you need around 2300 seals to fully upgrade a set. Thats less than you needed to upgrade one piece of Ironworks.
Though there are some trolls on Jenova who are just pulling asap to piss people off, the majority of the people who are complaining are the linkshell leeches, who are perfectly content to let others do the hunting and leech off of their work. Then you get idiots like the one numpty on Jenova who has a term like "<t><pos> get here before someone pulls early!" Never have I seen a macro the trolls would look for a better reason to pull...

Full set is 2495 centurion seals. I'm just sitting here, doing my daily (110/day) & weekly(100/week) hunts, going slow because who says I absolutely need to be 180? Plus since it's normal Alexander coming out in a week, pretty sure it'll be doable with part 180, part 170. Plenty time still till savage~.
I did 1 A rank today, because I accidentally ported to the wrong place but saw a shout. After pull it died in 5-10 seconds. I went "meh, back to daily hunts" and went on my merry way.
Note that for B ranks for the past 2 weeks I have seen an incredibly supportive and helpful community on Phoenix. People communicate in /shout, help someone out if they happen to see the mark even if they themselves don't need it. People patiently wait for others to arrive at the mark, etc. If you feel the community is toxic, really weigh the pros of absolutely super quickly getting 180 gear vs you being uncomfortable being around a toxic environment. Ultimately you do have a choice. And it doesn't have to be completely giving up on hunts or the 180 gear.

In general, there are people who have never been into hunts. Hunt FCs/LSs are their own, separate community (especially on Balmung) and it really does lock out other players who want in on the action. The main LSs kick people out of the LSs if they're offline and they're almost impossible to get back into. There are people who prefer raid/dungeon content over open world. The Hunt community for groups is ridiculous (on Balmung) and almost impossible to get into (on Balmung) unless you know someone who knows someone....it's very limiting.
I'm not here to complain about people who want to do hunts or pull early or are trolls are jerks, but there are people who make it difficult and some servers have closed off groups for hunts. It's very limiting and it would be nice if there was some alternative way to get the upgrades.
Then go play EVE. I am serious and not being snarky at all; if you want to play a game of competitive information warfare go play EVE. Your playstyle is more robustly supported there than it is here, especially since the community does not even want you or your playstyle here.
Balmung is a actually extremely easy to get into the "Bounty Hunters" LS (The one you're referring to), however the issue is most people just /sh and expect an instant-LS invite.

use this link to find the leaders of Bounty Hunters and send them a tell. It's a little more work but honestly, I have never been unable to get in when I wanted to be in Bounty Hunters. Though this might be a more recent symptom with so many people at 60 that it gets full again, this was a problem back when they first started. However, since they constantly remove people, it shouldn't be.
Post-Edit in, and additional Thoughts:
I do want to add, I think that the hunting community is extremely disgusting at times. There are multiple issues that I take note of:
People will blame people for "early pulling" and will complain loudly in chat. However, I have been in zone when the initial shout went up, and they waited 3-4 minutes. That is more than enough time to get to just about anywhere in this game, even with load times, unless we're talking instanced content.
I find these people who yell about early pulls to be far more toxic than anyone else. The people who they oft accuse of "Early pulling" don't even respond, meanwhile I've seen these self-same people calling those who 'pulled early' some of the most disgusting words I have ever seen. To those of you that think that "Early Pullers" are toxic, please keep yourself in check in this regard - as I find it absolutely disgusting the way you treat people you don't know just because you missed a fight.
I also find the Witchhunting within LS's to be outright rediculous. I know that the Leaders of Boutny Hunters have an entire LS for their leaders which is basically a witchhunting LS. I know that people will shout names using <tt> macro's to try and call out people who "Pulled early", often blaming high-threat classes such as Warriors for a pull just because they know how to pull threat.
I have seen people who, just by spreading a rumor, will get blamed for early pulling When they are not even in the same zone as the hunt mob. It is outright rediculous just how far players go to try and point their finger and cry "Unfair" without showing an ounce of concern for their fellow humans.
You guys want Hunts to be better? Stop complaining in shout. Stop hunting your fellow hunters and focus on the mobs. If you find yourself struggling to get to a hunt target, then just relax and go do something else. There is plenty of content in the game right now that you don't require to spam hunts.
Agree with pretty much everything you said there. BH LS is really easy to get into. Just add a leader or two who's usually online the same time you are to your friend list and send a tell when you want back in. For early pulls, I was apparently accused of hopping off my mount and early pulling a west highlands A rank the other day when what actually happened is that I landed, waited over a full minute (having walked into the zone from Ishgard, iirc), then ran around to the mob's backside and attacked when I saw someone initiate action. But, no, according to the angry /sh people, I pulled as soon as I got there and am a horrible person. >_>
More like,
"You dont' want to smell a turd? Stop ****ing in the middle of the street and then bending over to closely examine your own work."
The people who complain in shout often add far more to the toxicity than the people who "Early pull", if they even do that.
I dont' think Hunts are perfect. But I think the community exhasperates an open wound.
I've been actively hunting and watched something pop and been the only person anywhere nearby and seen a shout with its location within seconds despite no one else being able to even see the mob. It's total bull. And when you call these people out in shout they of course don't answer because they know they're cheating.
A weird question since we are talking about 3rd party apps. Anyone see the message pop in party chat with pos and everything like it was an automated response? As if the player was not responsible. Because I can't see people hitting a hunt macro during a boss fight as often as it happens.
I aggree, heck I would be willing to do the random fate drops again. But not hunts... Please not the hunts. ;.; Any other way!
It clearly isn't that easy if you feel the need to complain about it...
There is no toxicity if you don't fight in chat and ignore those who have problems.
My opinion is that this complainjng is all for nothing. I doubt hunts will be the only way to obtain the best gear after the raid is released.
A/S-rank hunt
15 leve allowances to partake, once a week, retry until killed
instanced find for the person who has the quest and whomever is in his party. "unable to attack" message for outsiders, the same as a story or levequest.
No having to worry about stealing, early pulling, fast killing, over farming, trolls or douchebags.
No amount of HP will EVER prepare the hunt for the amount of zerg death it's about to receive. Its rewards are simply too good. They should just gate the quest behind leves or something to control the encounter. Otherwise, it's always just going to be bad, frustrating, unexciting and overly tedious to participate in.
I'd quite like the option to earn Centurio Seals through dealing with specific FATE's, dungeons and trials that don't see much action. It'd benefit the community by ensuring there's players investing in neglected/overlooked content.
Greetings,
The development team definitely understands all of the feedback everyone has been posting in regards to the methods for obtaining items to upgrade equipment that can be purchased with Allagan tomestones of law. They're currently in the midst of planning new ways to obtain these items, and while it didn't make it in time for Patch 3.01, they will be working towards implementing it in Patch 3.05.
I'm not sure why people are saying that this is great news as if adding in other ways to get the upgrade items isn't always done at some point? I mean, with allied seals wanting Sands of Time and then Carbontwines and such, it started with hunts and then eventually became available through the weekly Tower quests.
Saying that the items will be obtainable through other means isn't new. It's just that these people are asking for them to be obtainable through other means from the get go without having to navigate the hell that are hunts (which would be awesome).
Seriously, his message isn't anything special. It's literally just telling us what we've seen before in terms of how they distribute upgrade items and such after the huge need for them decreases.
#gitgud at hunting
Upgrading this gear through hunts is kind of obsolete now anyways for the most part now that Alexander is out and rewards IL190 gear. The 180 gear really is only going to be relevant for a few more weeks, with respect to end game.
Very true, I actually have been wondering what Item level they will make esoteric gear and the savage Alexander gear, I recall Yoshi P during a previous live letter some time ago mentioning wanting to scale back item level jumps, but already we are approaching Item level 200.
You are probably right in two weeks there will be a mad dash to upgrade esoteric gear.
What about revising the Hunts system as a whole?
