There are ways out of it.
I have actually proposed 3 of them in my previous post:
- Play as another class
- Wait for a proper attacking mage class to be implemented
- Quit game

It was SO MUCH OBVIOUS that CONs where the White Mages of this game that I can't even understand where ppl got the idea that they will be anything other than healers.

yes, it was so obvious CONs, with elemental nukes were the whm... especially since at the beginning there was not even a whm planned.

You know, Mages can auto attack. It seems buggy as hell, but it's technically there.

just put Cure III on the 3rd bar and using macro /ac "Cure III" <me> onry!

at least I can have fun playing THM with superb upgraded Scourge II/Banish II and don't give a damn about healing anymore

then I have new problem... no one want THM to join the Darkhold group!! they only want GLA/ARC/CON

this game never has balance...

It's Tanaka and his team fault from the beginning, created these 2 mage classes with both black and white magic together and now the DoM messed up

I'm surprised you're even asking this but you must honestly not know so I'll explain.

So, what is the class that nukes? Is it the class that has elemental magic and ancient magic, with all the classic Final Fantasy nukes like Blizzard and Thunder? No, well why not? Cause the dev team decides one day that it's the class with Astral/Umbral offensive spells? Do you see what I mean?

Why do I want to nuke if parties aren't looking for nukers? Another great question. Why aren't parties looking for nukers? Could it be because of how broken the game mechanics are? Is it too much to ask for a dev team to get it right so that typical expectations set by the Final Fantasy series can hold true in this game?

The thing is I like the idea of casting offensive elemental magic. That's what I like about this particular videogame.. is it too much to ask for the classic Black Mage who casts offensive magic like Blizzard and Thunder? Is THM a better damage dealer by design or because of broken Ancient Magic spells? Have you thought about it?

You hit the nail on the head here. It isn't too much to ask for classes to be balanced so that nuking is as desirable as any other role.

Ahem... Neptune is well able to handle this, but allow me to point out what he has too much class to spell out FOR you. You CAN'T condescend to Neptune. Check the the relative ranks, dude...not to mention over-all quality of posts, knowledge of game and incisive intellect. LOL yea Neptune sure has some quality posts (sarcasm)

We had a trifecta of jobs pre patch 1.18, gla arc and thm, post 1.18 the trifecta was now gla , arc, and conj. Not much balancing in my opinion.

Can they get someone who loves being a magic user to develop the DoM, because I feel like we've never had that before in XIV.

Apparently when players asked for "Final fantasy flavour in class names" The dev team took that to mean instead of actual NAME CHANGES in the future, took it as "Conjurer? You mean white mage."

Those who haven't witnessed this same bullshitery in XI to the extent we have are far too optimistic. Yes we are allowed more freedom with class, but that's being taken away particularly with mages. There's only 2 mage classes right now, and SE has effectively neutered one of the class's ability to main heal a party.

So think to yourself, when it comes to a party would you rather have someone who can cure a party effectively, or are you seriously looking for a nuker, more DD? The odds are stacked against Cons now. If we aren't meant to do any damage now being the one class out of what, 7? that can properly care for a party? Then they should take the elemental nukes out of conjury (Which wouldn't make sense Storywise, elementals and all that.)

Or for convenience sake to you, would you like that removed as well?

Seriously... look at this. It sucks. This patch has turned class against class by subjugating one job against the will of the players. If they wanted a WHM class they should have made one from the beginning, labelled it as such, and been done with it. There are enough naive do gooders out there who get their self worth from selfless (boring, repetitive) service to the greater good and honestly believe the insults and jibes of the mallet heads are good natured ways of showing gratitude. Of course WE all know better because we've been around a while... but some people like that kind of thing. SE should have been honest from the beginning, not pulled this EPIC bait and switch on the players. I really think that's the crux of the thing. It's not really one class of players against another. It's one class of players being abused by SE. As for so blithely saying "just quit" if you don't like it...I'd be careful about that. What if the next thing they decide to change back on is the stats? What if they suddenly decide to make the little lalas all weak again--over night--with no warming and no recourse. Would you like me saying... well too bad. You should have chosen a magic job. Everyone knows little people have no business being GLAs. Most people develop empathy at around age 12. You there yet?

I dont lump myself into either of the "i love neptune" or "I hate Neptune" fan clubs and i find him to lay out clear concise opinions in which i sometimes agree, i just don't stroke his e-peen regularly.

I do admire Neptune for setting up this thread however. D: I've personally been discouraged from creating anymore due to unpopular opinions. Sick of dealing with all the arseholes on these forums, it's like if you're not an SE fanboy or a white knight, then you'll have to endure a line of backhands. It's also nice to see it still going!

Blindly approving of the patch the way it is, while bashing everyone else to hell. Which is not what I'm doing. I've had far more constructive posts compared to others. For example, I've never been so brutal to flame someone with a different opinion with continuous posts such as "GTFO" or "Whiny babies!"

(and that THM is also an ARC, btw).

And someone said afterward "Man it's great to be ARC & CON right now" and I said "This is a terrible way to design a game. You'd think they'd know it from XI, particularly the way COP worked and very specific setups had a much, much, much easier time clearing difficult fights.

Are out of the box setups going to be built and work? Yes they are, but good luck finding a CON & ARC to join them. They'll be too busy winning to join your crappy experimental party.

True, but as I stated earlier you made it sound like because they shared the same opinion they were an automatic butt-kiss. Which isn't the case, because even though then I've made my opinion clear in my other threads, that too would make me a butt-kiss.
