This. Any response from SE is likely caught in red tape since their Accounting division needs to work out the solution and the PR department (and potentially Legal Dept.) likely won't let a single detail out until the whole thing is set in stone. Probably a lot of work on their end trying to find viable solutions for every region the game is available in, especially if they're trying to nail down something with a low enough cost that it won't potentially cause an increase in the sub fees.

It isn't much, but they say they will be working with payment providers to increase the number of options we have to pay for the monthly fee.

Definitely need more game card option to buy crysta,

or maybe SE can make a game card to exchange it with crysta ($10 = 1k crysta, $20 = 2k crysta, etc)
(since 60-days game card is exist)

updated OP with the information from that link. I'm still hoping they will get Playspan/Ultimate Pay to make SE Crysta Cards

Does anyone know the limit amount of crysta you're allowed to have in your acct? For some reason, I can't reach more than 12,000. I'm trying to stock up for months to come, but can't redeem more than that.

Maybe they should fix the 406 error so many people are having with their credit cards. My sub is coming up soon and I'm not sure what I'm gonna do at this point.

My sub is up in a day or two lol and ugc was my only way of paying or was the only way i wanted to pay lol..
I guess i'm gonna be forcefully unsubbed till they get some kind of alternative in local gaming stores.
I'm surprised they having nothing yet in the stores in canada.
If a patch pops up with super duper omg golden saucer ninja action shiva fun, i'll probably go the extra mile and buy a card online or get a prepaid visa cuz i don't use Ccs for game payments.

Weird, they said on the website that it's 10,000. I have 7200 a few weeks ago and tried to add 2000 and it wouldn't let me. You have 12,000? How?

I had about 12,000.. like 11 something.. almost 12 (like a few months ago). Using ultimate Game Cards, but then when I tried to put more, it won't let me... now I have about 9,000 something and I want to put more but not sure what the limit is.

Anyone who doesnt trust PayPal... Why wouldn't you? I've been with them for over a decade with only good experiences with them.

Any news for UGC replacement? Seems the option I have for my country requires around more than 20% extra fees now, way more expensive than UGC. And I still prefer non CC/Paypal payment. :(

I'm currently not subscribed due to being unable to subscribe, this really doesn't motivate people to resubscribe again.

well , i used to use ultimate game card too , i could use the paysafecard or my regular bank card to pay my subscription... now i'm out of option and so out of FFXIV....like two of my friends.

i got an US account and now live in belgium , so i can't even use the game time card that i can find in mediamarkt so . i was going to stay for years on XIV like i did with XI but , looks like SE won't allow me to do that so..

This method will work even if you are in belgium. I'm currently stationed in Japan, and I use the digital Time card to pay for my account now. and Square's online store accepts both credit cards, and paypal making it easy to buy the Game time cards :)

O.o thks for the tips . I guess i'll try that but i'll have to go through Paypal because my prepaid mastercard just expired last month ... i hope paypal will accept my regular bank card to charge my paypal account .

Anyway , that really suck that Ultimate closed their services. It was easy to pay my sub like that . i'm not a fan nor used to paypal .

These people don't listen because they were using ultimate game cards at a very cheap price, they buy one get one free sometimes and since they are penny pinching and get no deals on cards now they say its impossible to play.

I am pretty sure there are options to pay for a subscription but like I said before they don't get deals with the other stuff.

It's not that we don't listen or penny pinching. i never had any "free card" or a cheaper sub and i'm not a legacy player . I got a prepaid mastercard but it expired and i won't renew it because i've used it only for XIV ( v1). With ARR there was ultimate play which was really useful and easy to charge with a regular bank card.

And like i said , i can't buy a game time card because i live in EU now and i got a US account. Thks to vespar and Pluvia , i now know how to pay my sub. thks to you two .

Herosamson , you're just obnoxious . what about getting a deal for a sub ? what is wrong about that ?

And without Vespar tips , i just couldn't play anymore , i got no mastercard anymore , and i can't buy game time card where i live because they're EU code which won't work with my NA account.

now i just have to wait for paypal to receive and charge my account to buy a NA game time card.

I have exactly the same problem. I use a prepaid (cause i spend too much money) and i could pay perfectly using UP, when i try to pay to SE directly however i get all the errors in the world. I contacted support (chat) and they didnt help me at all, more like chatting to a computer (it probably was). Now i need to figure out another way to get my subscription sorted.... what a mess. What does a person have to go through just to play a game he likes, it's just sad.

Glad I could help ^_^ I know the Digital Time cards aren't the greatest solution for legacy players who have a cheaper sub cost, or those wanting to purchase fantasias.. but atleast you can still play. Which I guess is better than nothing.

This issue would be solved if SE would allow us to use our Steam or PSN wallets to pay. Just take it out of our wallets at once so we don't need to worry. IE: Pay for 6 months and that money would be taken from your wallet and you don't have to worry about the sub for those 6 months. This way, people can use cash to buy Steam/PSN cards without having to use or need a credit card. I just don't know how that would work between SE and Steam/PSN (taking money from the wallets, and if those services would want a cut).

It also short-changes the Entry level subscribers as well. I played XI for 10 years and only ever had one toon in that game. Don't plan on having more than one in this one either... so why should I pay $15 every 30 days when I can pay $13? Oh.. and you can't use the time cards on an entry account either--you HAVE to convert it to use a time card.

The point is, for a long time now, we've been able to pay just what we needed in order to play. For many, this is leaving them with options that are only going to increase their costs--whether that is the loss for using a time card, or extra fees incurred from using pre-paid and such. SE needs to get on this NOW and not drag it out like they did with the Click&Cry debacle from XI.

Yea, kinda like them to hurry up with this. I couldn't even use paypal to pay for this game (it went through ok every time, but got a refund email pretty much instantly.), so I was using the cards to get the crysta to pay for my time for XI and XIV. As a Legacy player, Time Cards cost me more, never mind no stores carry them around where I live. And given my current personal situation, I need to try to save money, not hemorrage more then I really need to. (I'm bad at savings, shush.)

I'll happily buy a pre-paid credit card a few times to keep playing-- I've done it before to top up on crysta when I couldn't find the cards-- but if that card gets denied, I have no idea what I'll do.

Then let me ask this back to you: How do you pay for extra services like retainers and such without CC or having your CC unable to registered as valid payment?

Don't know if you give this much thought, especially if your CC has no problem so far. But what if yours getting problem later on?

And don't you think that SE, given that it's "not their fault" as you said, should've prepared contingency plan before UGC went down with playspan disabled?

I'm working on company that provide services. If things like this happened, some department especially financial & IT will get no sleep for days until subscription issues got sorted out. Now... I don't know if this is a good thing or not, but... you think SE should take easy approach on this?

Well yeah of course retainers are done with a CC but like I said before credit card company No Foreign Transaction crap is on the their side not SE's.

But you are right the retainer thing is a issue for that.

Also No I think SE should look into things to make it easier for fans.

I think SE messed up on a few things, I am even regretting on buying a house reason is basically this, just imagine a server merge if the population get low what will happen to the house you paid for but I agree with some of your statements.

Come on SE make Square Enix Crysta cards. call em Final Fantasy Crysta Cards to get attention for all we care but please make them, it would make a lot of us very happy and it would make you money. we know you like money. here the design part wouldnt even be that hard you could even re-use your existing game card designs like I have demonstrated in the pics

c'mon SE. Square-Enix Crysta Cards would be a hot seller, I'm sure of it.

just wondering for a fact check: how big is the ratio between credit card user and non user? Seems like despite the trouble, SE still think they can survive from CC payments.

I'm not sure, I do know that quite a lot of players were getting UGC as gifts to exchange for crysta to play the game. and there are those who can't get their CC to work for whatever reason...so Crysta Cards would be a great alternative. I have 1 friend who preferred the UGC cause she could just grab it while grocery shopping.

Personally I prefer using Paypal and we can now use it to buy a digital 60 days time card. I have a fake/debit credit card too that I got recently that I use but I prefer PayPal. It'd be best of course to be able to use PayPal directly instead of buying a time card with it.

Yes I agree majority most likely pay with CC or use the SE time card. Any game the forums users are a small percentage of the actual player base.

the time cards are a good option for those that aren't Legacy(they give you 60 days time nomatter what), don't use extra retainers or want fantasia. but what about Legacy accounts and those who do use extra retainers or want more fantasia?
as a legacy account holder I do not see those time cards as an option for me, not when $29.99 USD would get me 3 months of time. not to mention I prefer to keep crysta on my account so I dont have to worry when my time is up. my preferred payment for crysta was the UGC but I could fall back on paypal if needed.

Square Enix Crysta Cards would be ideal. I wouldnt be surprised if a lot of players even paying with CC would use them.

Keep in mind it takes a corporation a fair bit of time to set up payment methods with 3rd parties. There is alot of internal discussion and debate that goes on to find the right solution. Many departments within the corporation must collaborate such an issue and come up with the best solution. As a corporation, money is key. You can't just throw money at a 3rd party payment system willy-nilly, or it could bit you in ... you get the idea. Be patient, they already said they are looking into it in a post on the lodestone when Ultimate Pay was removed.
