iLvl , Healing tactics and DPS. I guess ppl get cooked because from what I see, ppl skimp on VIT. The Feels I get sometime when my Fairy have more HP then a Blm.

My threads are doing ironman numbers and I don't need you anymore.
Welp...I main a MNK, second a PLD/WAR, and leveled a SCH for enrage.
Time to get my SMN geared up for rot! lol
Also - Can't wait for a 4 WHM 4 WAR T2 kill vid!
I feel like people are being silly. From what people are saying it's still possible to do enrage it's just isn't as easy to do it compared to Rot. Most people's complaints about Enrage was that it was letting less skilled players through. Now it seems like you will have to be over-geared and maintain high DPS/Heal to do it. In essence, SE was telling the truth that Enrage is a viable strategy they just made it so it isn't the best strategy. Now parties will have to decide between the two strategies and more importantly, it still presents a challenge to pass.
As far as the scandal of not mentioning it in the patch notes, people are blowing it way out of proportion. The only real issue with not doing so, is the fact that we are trying to figure this out while SE can just end the debate by saying if they really did buff it or not.
I was just reading gamewatch interview which Yoshida mentions T2 enrage
Which translates toQuote:
"I heard in Turn 2 of coil you can defeat the boss by waiting until timer's up, is that kind of trick not considered cheating?"
To which Yoshida responds with
"At the moment this kind of trick is allowed as long as you feel that it's easy. Everyone's using higher gear to clear it that we originally thought. We made turns 1-2 to be "barely clearable" if people came in with level 90 weapons and level 70 (darklight) armor. If everyone's got overpowered gear, high HP and DPS, then clearing it the enrage method is viable."
So basically how I see it is "lol you guys think you can clear T2 enrage cause you got mad gears now? well we got mad damage now m9(^Д^)プギャー" sigh. :(
Overpowered gear.... IN BEFORE all the iLvl90 ONRY T2 runs.
Just tried T2 enrage mode with 3 healers tonight (Thursday 20th February, POST 2.16 patch)
3 healers, as soon as he enraged he started doing 2k plus per hit per person. I got off a medica 2 then dead, 3 seconds later we wiped. Definitely been buffed.
Healers had over 4k hp to give you an indication of gear.
Well, I know some people who'll be complaining about this when they run it again next week. But frankly, I like this. I've never been one for taking the easy way out, so learning Rot oughta be fun.
Wait... you never cleared T2 the normal way before?
Personally I find T2 enrage better. Since it is more PUG friendly. <---- without the need of any voice commuincations.
Voice comms is almost a must for rot. Unless you guys are static since birth or a bunch if really good peeps that understand the flow of the game.
As long as you time your heals, it should be fine. have a sch obey selene and spam feyglow, spell speed eats etc.
Nope. I've only run Coil once on my main by making a first timers group, but some joker joined up and was at Snake without telling us (none of us knew about the checkpoint system, so that was unfortunate). It was late when we cleared it, so we didn't run T2, and this was before people discovered Enrage. On my alt, however, I started running Coil the last three weeks or so, but the only groups in PF are for Enrage. So yeah, I have never learned Rot.
Yeah, that's what he said. Some of us were okay with it, others weren't, but meh. I've run through all of T1 on my alt now, and I don't see what the big deal is with the trash mobs. Heck, I kinda liked fighting ADS, haha! I guess I'm in the minority on that issue, but it was a fun fight.
I am glad they did this. Enrage method is a bit like cheating imo.
Whao you are saying as if it is a good thing. I am lucky to have FC peeps bring me as MNK into T2 all those months ago and beat it. Other dps are struck sucking thumbs. While everyone just wanted range dps.
Remeber the cries saying the game is anti melee back those few mths?
In before agrument of ".....level xyz no melee dps jobs."
Honestly it's nice to have the "medal" of Allagan gear to show that you did clear such a tough encounter. I know it's just a game, but it is a nice sentiment.(Maybe I just watch too much anime LOL) That's why I like how XIV does things, there's Coil for the top(which will eventually be nerfed for everyone else) but there is still an alternative source of high level gear for the not-so top (Myth gear). It's a nice compromise that promotes both hardcore and casual play.
OK, so now that I think about it... SE is making it really HARDER to find tanks in this game.
OH, you want to tank T2? oh youre a WAR...sorry beat it. so unless you wanna double BRD or pray a MNK can time silence you cant double WAR tank.
I have both PLD and WAR...same as the other tank in my static...but we both prefer WAR. I kinda like tanking, just hate the idea that SE is telling me that the one that I prefer is not viable.
It's not. That's why I never could take issue with enrage in the first place. The Quarantine route is so insanely abusive to players (4 nodes plus def buffs, Firestream, and holy-crap-HV-spam) and rot so punishing to melee jobs that the entire fight was always a middle finger to anyone who didn't roll BRD.
so basically I just wasted my time reading though this forum there is nothing wrong with enrage method thanks for that
There's nothing "wrong" with it, but it's not the intended method. I always find it hilarious reading the PF write ups about T2 Enrage. "T2 Enrage Strat, know or be booted"
It's so ironic since the strategy basically implies you have no idea how to actually do the fight properly.
I'm happy to see T2 forcing players to resort back to passing rot. Rot was the unique "hot potato" mechanic that made the turn fun and challenging to overcome, and honestly, I felt like "enrage" was just a cheap way of getting loot (especially for groups that had never cleared turn 2 the "original" way). It just feels weird when you talk about running turn 2 and some newer players to coil don't even know what "rot" is...I always felt like turn 2 was the turn to stop people in their tracks because the skilled players who understood the mechanics of the turn and jobs would be able to clear it easily and those who didn't would fail.
I've done rot with many different kinds of parties/strats, be it 2 BRDs for silence, 1 BRD/1 PLD, and even 2 Melees for passing rot, and nothing in terms of party composition is impossible to do as long as you have 2 people to take turns silencing. I think people just complain too much about difficulty of content that is intended to be difficult.
I am actually excited that Turn 2 finally got "buffed...." it seems like it was kind of long overdue. I've been wanting to run allagan rot again, because I remember doing it months ago with much less gear (full DL) and having a lot of fun beating it because it was a challenge. I pug coil sometimes, and having all of the party finders doing Turn 2 the enrage method was really boring.
I think we'll be seeing a lot of players, (the ones who only know enrage as Turn 2), struggling because they didn't want to learn the mechanics. Watch some youtube videos or something, but really, it's not that difficult.
Since so many players have their main classes and many secondary classes geared so well, you can kill ADS pretty quickly now. You probably have enough time to take out 4 nodes if you wanted instead of 3 and still beat ADS before you run out of clicks.
I think the general anger of it stems not from the buff, but that they decided not to put it in the patch notes, or notify players. Not the classiest move. Game on.
So solid answer, is enrage still possible currently, yes or no?
What I don't understand is why T2 has an enrage mode to begin with. If SE wants to buff it so that people don't resort to enrage tactics, it's indicating they don't want people to fight it through its enrage mode... so why is that mode even there to begin with then? Why not just do one of the usual insta-fail 9999 damage things a minute after the 0 click? Why give people the illusion/impression that such a thing is allowable and then ramp up the damage so it isn't? It's like they're saying "weeeell you still have a chance to win, but we really don't want you to do this, even though we're dangling it right in front of your face."
Not to mention this is another instance where you can't trust SE's word on anything, since they claimed just a short while ago that they had no plans to change it.
