I've pressed Enter probably 10,000,000,000 times already, so no.
Most of us only pop in once in a while to talk to people. The game itself offers nothing of interest anymore. We only even do care as much as we do because of stubborn hope.

lol his sig is basically slander. That topic was pretty damn pointless to anything because it's comparing apple to oranges and saying SE is trying to silence the argument. The thread also spiraled downhill which is why it got closed and deleted, basic moderation.
1. It would save operation costs for a game they're making zero profit on.
2. There is no 2.
It would serve the biggest benefit to them actually.
I say take it down. Take the forums down as well. Do a player wipe and relaunch the game when its actually not a beta.
It "could" speed up development. Simply by not having to worry about all the people keeping the gear/stats/levels and having to tip toe around making any huge changes to the worthless armory system. Running the game means people are playing something that could change. And the developers have to tip toe around not making those people angry. So that does slow down development and may down right kill some ideas from ever being implemented.
Who cares if taking the servers down signals that the game failed... i think most people would agree that it failed a while ago.
And no one cares "Well if they do a player wipe i won't come back!".. You knew this was a beta when you first logged in, and even if you're slow you surely realized it after a week. Not to mention if you've had fun and have multiple r50's... you'd try the game again when it came back up. And besides, who cares if the small amount of players who are playing get pissy and don't come back if they launch a game that is actually good? Hell, those same people like kam keep saying "if you don't like it leave"... as the game dies from people doing just that.
I'm sorry but none of what you said is any different from any other MMO. Developers for other large MMOs do the same things while having the server online - aspects of the game are constantly updated. The ones on this forum advocating for taking the servers down are grasping at straws with no real thought put behind the idea.
No other MMO has had to completely redesign its world/combat/job system. Most at least have a general idea of what they are doing and made balance changes, unlike this game. Its still up in the air what changes are going to be made, which is ironic after 9 months.
Lets say they actually gave in and went to ffxi jobs/subjobs. All your r50 classes are gone. But they can't do that because everyone who has played will be butt hurt.
I have to dissagree with your top line. WoW has redesigned the whole world once (Cataclysm), Combat many times, and class system many times. The combat and class system there go together by way of changing, adding, and removing roles to and from each class. So FFXIV isn't the first, and probably wont be the last.
Beta testing aside, there's not much of a reason to keep servers running atm. SE should pull an APB; close the servers and bring them back up when things are fixed and they've got a better plan.
Actually, I simply posted timelines, asked a question, and people were welcome to infer what they wanted from it. There was absolutely no "slander" in it (and the third and forth paragraphs under the Conclusion where added specifically to the blog post, meaning my own personal opinions never even appeared in the original topic outside of my joke about "one of *them*"). The timelines are entirely verifiable, and I even provided links.
You can argue that the timelines are "apples and oranges" (I disagree). You cannot, however, reasonably say it was "slander", which by definition is a false statement - those timelines were, again, entirely verifiable, therefore not "slander".
Let's not use words if we don't know their definition.
If you like, I can post on the blog the full email from SE, who said flat out it was deleted because it was critical of and disparaging toward them.
I quite like them being up and being able to progressive your character, no matter how small. I did pay a lot of money for the game, afterall.
Ok how about the fact that it requires money (which is a resource) to keep these servers up , SE are not making money on this game in fact they are throwing it away at this point by keeping these servers up.
That extra money could be used to get more staff on the project and increased effort all across the board.
There is a good reason why closed beta's have a few days of play then a break in between.
They would be throwing CUSTOMERS away by taking the game offline. Paying 70$ for a game that goes down in less than a year hurts the trust peoplle will have in SE's games, with the ways things now. The worst is that FFXIV is a bad game, but that other SE products, especially the FF series, are good products.
Bringing down the game will generate bad publicity. A indelible mark in the franchise, and affect people buying other games in turn. This isn't some porting mishap with the numbers, this is the relationship to the people that they have provided products for many years. You can't fix that as easily.
