CT loot lockout and the direction of this game will probably cause our FC to quit

Honestly as bad as it was I rather just have the drop rates from 1.0 and be able to do the content rather than the lockouts. I get it the lockouts are put in place to draw content out longer but again just make the drop rate tighter and open the content until you get this all sorted out.

Just throwing this out there, but most hardcore fc's already have a full or close to full i90 sets. I know some that are working on a second/third set. Even I've been getting a few pieces for my second job.

That was in a recent famitsu interview.

It looks like you've started to delve into coil yourself but I want you to keep in mind that after putting in some time of practice it is very easy to put coil down in little over an hour. The time commitment is low for those who put the practice in. I don't think anyone would mind a short 24hr-48hr lockout on ct but a week is a bit much. To help put it a bit in perspective, it will take you approximately 7 weeks to gear the same slots in i90 while it will take you 5 weeks to do it in i80. Not including the chance for gear drops in coil.

TBH I would have rather them put the loot lockout on coil and keep tower lockout free and for the casual crowd. I would also take a restriction on member access such that you can only take up to 4 people whom completed the turn. In this way you could easily limit the viability of of gear selling while allowing players to help others with their runs. There were plenty of times when I've seen people just needing to fill a slot but couldn't find anyone unlocked.

Well for me I could care less since I play only on the weekends unless I get off work before 5pm on weekdays. I cap my myths on Friday- Saturday and do coil for the rest of the weekend. Ct will already be more then enough for me, then again I m considered a casual, if you play for 40+ hours a week no mmo could release enough content to satisfy ppl but I would welcome something similar to merits in ffxi, were u could spend hours of playtime just to get 1 merit point (at the later stage).

MMOs are supposed to have a ridiculous amount of time sinks, that's how the monthly fee is justified

Everquest had enough content to easily satisfy 40+ hours per week. That argument has no merit.

I played eqoa, most of my time spent was on cms, pvp, and raids. But plz don't tell me upon release that there was enough content to satisfy 40+ hours a week without replaying same shit over and over.

Maybe not but this game isn't going to have much more content than it does in 2.1 as it is following the wow model of 2 relevant raid tiers and 1 relevant dungeon tier, and we've already received some comments and confirmation that he's going to make old tiers irrelevant as new tiers come out.

BG had an awesome guy, Slycer, translate stuff out for us from Famitsu and onlinegamer.jp . I would recommend taking a read on their site for the interview.

Square Enix is just way behind schedule. For those complaining on the lower item level of crystal tower vs Coil, you should know that all this content we are seeing in 2.1 except maybe for the Housing was supposed to be already out at Launch back on Aug but they had to push it further.

So all these items, dungeons etc were already made by that time but needed refinement and bugs fix. Maybe they shouldnt had released Coil before crystal tower but they did it and its a mistake they are paying now.

I still don't understand why they need lockouts on anything. I've never played a game that limits you as much as FF14 does. People play MMORPGs to progress through the content.. so why gate/restrict that content? It doesn't make sense.

The only people that would actually get everything they need in a single day/week/month are in the minority, so why is SE designing the game around the way they play?

Why do people keep saying mmos don't launch with a lot of content. Have any of the people saying that played anything besides FFXIV and WoW? Aion launched with LOADS to do, not to mention almost every f2p game I've played launched with loads of stuff >.>

As far as the lock outs go, I'm use too it. I'm sure they'll remove it or shorten it shortly.

Maybe I am confused but what is the point in locking out something that gives gear lower then you already have in the game?

Why even bother with it if you can buy gear that is of the same level or greater, in less time without having to rely on 16 people outside of your group to do. this whole tower idea just feels dumb or not well planned how ever you want to look at it. Wooo Hooo 1 more raid for the hardcore players but they wont do it cause it does not give them what they want. So why not make this a normal 8 man and without long lockouts do 24 hours.

One question is it dropping 1 item per person or 1 per raid, if its 1 per raid this will be ignored by most players.

lol My best bet for this is the poor servers they got for instance/raids would collapse and will not stand the stress of the rush everyone will have to play Crystal Tower when it launches. So by restricting it, it will open space for others to try it.

Correction everquest had enough content on long enough respawn timers where you could easily camp 40+ hours per week to have a shot at getting it (either the mob was ninja'd or it didnt drop what you needed) ... or a guard killed it (I'm looking at you cleric bracer quest that spawned a ghoul that would walk into a guard camp every 36 hours) ... Infact EQ had so much content that it introduced gems to keep people sane while staring at the same wall hours on end :P Dont get me wrong I loved that game to bits and it will forever hold a special place in my gaming heart but cmon now.

I like to have something to strive too, the problem is if you make everything accessible then people will just pump hours and hours into the game until they have it. If its not enough, people will lose interest. There needs to be a happy medium. But, I honestly can't say how CT will work for those whom like to get into the hardcore raiding scene. You always have WoW I suppose where you can get gear like candy!

Pro tip, you and your FC are in the wrong game, you guys need to be in Diablo 3, no lockout, all the loot you want. You guys sound like all you cares are loots, loots, and nothing but loots. As that is the case, multiplayer game like Diablo 3 is best for you.

This is Final Fantasy 14, one of the mmo that has lockout like every other MMO, same as Wow. MMORPG is not like multiplayer games, loot is not everything. Role playing, built a community, interact with other players are also important. If you want to quit, please do! You have no interest to build a community, then this community does need you as well. I also suggest you to watch anime Log Horizon, to see what a MMO is about.

True, but to a lot of players, the only thing keeping us playing is End game/loot/our friends.
I love Coil, I think it's genuinely fun... My issue? I can only doe it once a week. Crystal Tower is a step in the right direction (If the CT lockout system was in play for Coil instead of what we currently have it would be fantastic).
90% of my FC only logs in on a Monday, we do 1-5, cap Myth and then we're done for the entire week, I log in to chat with the few people that do log in. Most of us hang out in Mumble and play other games.
Where on Earth did you get the idea that people who hate lockouts have no friends/only care about loot? It's disgusting stereotype. We "only care about loot" because after a while, when the "omgnew" factor wears off, that's pretty much the only reason there is to play.
I stand in Mor Dhona every day reading shouts and helping people, I try and do anything to keep me occupied in game. Do you know what? Even helping people gets boring after a while, because you can only do Hydra/Chimera/Primals for no reward so many times before it gets boring. When the game first came out, I spammed Praetorium for hours every day, it was boring as hell but I didn't mind because I made constant progression towards my goals. It made even boring content worth doing, it was the carrot at the end of the stick. Without the carrot... What's the point?
There is no community in this game because the game is pretty much designed to be played as "Run end game with your 8 man static, kill time for the rest of the week."

You can always tell the MMO newbies who judge their worth by their gear.

Give it a few months and it'll be worthless anyway. Until then, enjoy your transitory BiS!

I'm not new to MMOs. But while our gear becomes worthless every few months (Can't say the same for FFXI) we'll be enjoying the new content, While everyone is still playing catch up.

TLDR: I really want to zerg the content and get all the drops for every job in 36 hours tops.

Still puzzled by the defense of this mechanic. I've already got some friends who won't touch CT because it is i80 gear. Meanwhile, my motivation to level alternate classes is tanked because they'll be stuck at the DL wall for months.

It is almost if all the Pro lockout people forget that the ARMORY SYSTEM is the MAIN unique aspect of this game.

Lockouts on MULTI character games work wonders, but people make alternate CLASSES on the same char on this game.

Get a clue, the current lockout mindset by SE is a non functioning system for any game that uses an ARMORY type system.

Sorry but the current system and the one planned with CT is nothing more than a strong attempt to artificially lengthen content. It holds no other purpose.

My FC has already lost 200+ members to other games because the game has nothing to do in it, nobody wants to pay 15$ a month for a game that they only play 2 days a week.

The fact that the lockout is per CHARACTER per week instead of per CLASS per week is what has a lot of people riled up, myself included at this point. For a game that the developers hyped about having the ability to play ALL the jobs on ONE character having PER CHARACTER locks is in my opinion a bad design choice, it would have been better to have CT drops per CLASS, keep coil turns per character.

Look at it this way, they're saying the gear is more intended to be used by coil runners in the upcoming vanity system but yet in order to acquire just the ARMOR for appearance it will take at MINIMUM 40 weeks of running CT (5 visible armor slots not counting accessories) since we'll only be able to get ONE drop per week per character. if it were 1 drop per class each week it wouldn't be nearly as bad and I highly doubt people would be as upset as they are currently. I know for a fact that as it currently is I'll only touch CT 1 time a week, then I'll go right back to farming WP/AK for philosophy tomes to get darklight as that is not capped and you can complete all the current coil content in darklight armor and accessories as it stands

Yes, but sadly we don't live in a world where things make sense. This lockout bull is just reinforcing the idea that I should be leveling up my alternate characters. Which is a shame because I picked up FFXIV due in no small part to the lure of the armory system and instead of trying to take full advantage of it they're pushing people who want to have more than one job that's geared into using other characters instead.
