This isnt FFXI!

I believe it is the same world as XI, but roughly 100 years in the future.

The evidence shows in the fact that there is mention of Shantotto on the relic reborn quest for blm, Raubahn in the immortal flames(he was an immortal in XI, so it could be the same guy. Also he has a sword called Tizona, which was the mythic weapon for blue mage in XI), and Mnejing in the goldsmith quest. Also I believe the goobue mount npc talked about vanadiel.

I have been thinking this ever since I started the game! It really does feel like it could be the same world, just many many years in the future. Maybe more than 100, maybe even 1,000 or 10,000.

Can that minion be bigger than a character? I might have to change appearance if so.

It's very possible it could be the same world and personally I think that would be amazing lore. It doesn't make sense in terms of Bahamut though, or even Odin or Carbuncle.

I think those complaining are the ones who never got further than level 20 in XI and forever hate it because it was too hardcore, yet they play XIV and talk people down for not being hardcore enough. Happens all too much.

Would be nice however Vana'diel is a flat world unlike Hydaelyn which is a round world.

Square stated in the ultimania guide that FFX was supposed to be a prequel to FFVII, and those 2 games have 2 different Bahamuts, so that could put some sense to the primals and Bahamut/Carbuncle.

The crafting and gathering in this game is outstanding and lightyears beyond WoW.

You can be any and all classes on one character, changing throughout game play. Wow doesn't even have jobs or a universal fighting pet for all characters.

Do I really need to keep going?

He's talking about the core gameplay and progression model made standard by WoW.

I remember hearing from somewhere that SE said all the final fantasy games where in the same universe The Fabula Nova Chystalis (sp) but. That all worlds were seperate unless they've already acknowledge a connection Ie: X and 7 and their subsequent games as well as the ones set in Ivalice.


On a side note I'm getting the feeling there may be maint going on right now (at work so I can't tell)

That would be like calling a Ferrari a Ford, simply because Model-T's were the first, and thinking that someone who likes a Ferrari is going to enjoy a Model-T. No, the fan of the Ferrari is going to be quite disappointed when you roll out the old cranker and tell him that your comparison was based on a subjective far-removed principle. Come on. FFXIV:ARR is fun, different, and to be honest, a breath of fresh air from the wow clones. It's got something going for it.
