How much do you think server transfers should cost?

The cost depends on two things. One how much does it cost to transfer a character safely at any time and two how much should we charge to prevent abuse... Unless they are willing to reduce the amount on the abuse side of things I expect the cost of transferring a character to between servers to be more since there is more data transfered with a character transfer in ff14 than in ff11...

It's an automated process that really costs SE nothing to do, the question is how much do they want to make on it.

server transfers shouldn't be allowed, too many con's not enough pro's.

they should cost from 5€ to 50€, increasing cost for each transfer in a short period of time, then reset at 5€ if during 6 months no transfer has been done.

Also they should o like blizzard, and offer free transfers from high pop servers to low pop servers to balance things out when needed.

i think what he meant by that that you can't transfer to any of the new world that are made for starting char. Also he said we could switch to a NA,EU,JP world so i think that would happen start of 2.0 it just be dumb that we have to wait to switch to a NA world when there no issue in making one for old players.

Wait i thought we could change servers at launch?

We could just not to the worlds that are lock to level 1 chars not sure where people are getting the idea we can't. He just said you can't change worlds later but he going to keep it for 6month for any return players to switch worlds once that time limit is set whatever world your char land on stay there to they release a way to switch worlds. we also get 1month free for ffxiv 2.0 so i don't see why there not a reason to remake your char and pick a world.

That what i read if i'm wrong then i don't know what true seeing how translation is here and there on this matter.

I believe you are right Zenaku. The way I read it too is that at launch we can switch to an server that existed in 1.0 and any of the new servers that they will be bringing online are off limits to us for awhile unless we want to reroll on that server. Frankly thats fine, we already know the starter zones of the pre-existing servers are going to be over run with arcanists with carbuncles and whatever other job they wanna give us. Now add all the rest into there. Been there done that lol. 300 ppl going after 100 mobs is not fun when 290 of them are soloing.

Since they are going regional there would be no reason to lock us onto our old servers. I know being in the NA region I would not want to be stuck on a JP server if the lag was going to be an issue like it was in 1.0 and vice versa Im sure for JP who get stuck on NA servers. So allowing us to move but restricting where we can go was a good move by SE

I'm still trying to figure out why XIV has such a large issue with the servers being in Japan. Aren't XI's in Japan as well? It's not like XI doesn't have timers and everything else going on as well. As long as my computer keeps up with the games graphics and cpu cycles, what's the problem? It shouldn't be latency if FFXI has no problem. Granted, FFXI has about a 1.5-3 second delay for everyone, that you can't really notice without dual boxing, but somehow manages to still sync with everything quite well, and doesn't lag. At the very least, I've never really had lag ssues. Just R0 issues. Lol.

My only guess is that they've made even more things server side than need to be to prevent hacking/glitching/exploiting.

xi is a 10 yr old game. You can run that thing on a toaster on dial up, which is basically what it was designed for. But it still has lag, its just harder to feel compared to xiv
