He implied that people who got into the game also somehow have amazing second-hand knowledge of MMOs, and he also implied that his wonderful assumption makes them the best testers for the game. Neither of these things are true.

Besides, the people who quit the game early on probably won't make good testers, as many of them won't accept the chance to contribute to the game's evolution and growth. Instead, they could've sent invites to people they KNOW will test the game, who have played FFXIV up until the point of it's final save; those people are probably better choices for testers.

Hello, thanks for your comment. ^_^ I would not say my assumption is 100% blind but I will give you somewhat blind. I know more than just my one buddy quit FFxiv and for the same reasons.

People like us who already love FFxiv are somewhat biased towards other games. Kinda like you saying the games I listed are bad games, I don't really agree that they are bad. Well SOTOR kinda sucks for lack of content but WoW and GW are pretty good. SE knows we love ARR. We are impressed already.

The tough people to impress are the one week quitters. Because those people are biased towards FFxiv and would have never given it a second chance. SE knows if they can impress them then they have won the day.

Overall we know SE listens to us. Like you said this is everyone's FFxiv and we, the ones who have been supporting the game over the last two years, will be heard too. But they have been hearing just our opinions for a long time now. That's why I think the come back crowd will make some of the best testers out of all of us. Because there's a good chance that their opinions will differ from ours.

I hope your wrong about people being so biased towards FFxiv that they would throw away the chance to contribute to the alpha test because I still think their opinions would be good for SE to hear. But I don't think they would have signed up for the alpha test to throw the invt away...Unless they are evil, evil people.

Yes, I know this, but it also says on the Alpha Application that those who apply for the Alpha testing do not need to re-submit an application to be considered for the PC Beta Test. (PS3 Beta Testing requires sending in another application). Which is why I was asking when people thought it might be good to apply...like maybe they'd let people who missed out on Alpha testing have a greater chance of getting in the Beta etc. Only reason I asked. Currently, I've just been waiting to see a 'Application for Beta Testing'.

In spite of all that's happened, in spite of all the progress the game has made, as well as the many heads that ARR has managed to turn, there are still people who frown upon the game and are it's doomwhisperers; constantly whining and moaning that the game will NEVER be a success, even though reactions to it say otherwise.

Many of these people, in my experience, are the ones who quit the game early on and never looked back. I think that these kinds of people would probably just scoff at the chance to make the game they hated better by providing testing and feedback support to SE and Yoshida's team, and that any chances given to them will go to waste.

On the other hand, SE knows they have thousands of possible testers for Alpha invites at their disposal; people who, while being staunch fans of the game for a long time, are still willing to provide honest feedback and support to the team so they don't make the same decision made over 2 years ago, to release the game incomplete and skeletal.

I think that people who've played 1.x for as long as they have, since the beginning (and I partially include myself for various reasons) should have been given first chance to enter Alpha and provide support during the testing, because they're probably the game's best hope for success, given that they'll provide honest feedback.

let's not get angry and pissed off because you didnt get invite. They said more invites will be sent out soon and even if you don't get those invites, just brush it off and next thing you know Beta is up and people will have a high chance of getting invites that didnt before.

AND, next thing you know, FFXIV 2.0 ARR is release to the public! Shit, time goes by so fast, next thing you realized you are downloading the new client and leveling your ARCANIST... so don't fret.

They're testing server stress right now, yes? I assume they went for people that have the good PCs and said they'd be on to test often. From what they've been saying, the gameplay and balancing testing comes in the beta, so we should see a lot more invites for that.

While this may be true, if you worked for SE and wanted to make sure you impressed these people to come back, would you give them priority to participate in the Alpha with all the lacking features an Alpha will inevitably have?

...and yes, I am a little bitter, mostly because I suspect Alpha testers will get first dibs on participating in Beta.
