Those things not being released won't make the game "half-finished". As long as the game works as promised (faster/better UI, new better maps/world, better server system) then it's in a finished state. Those things are nice but they're extras. People aren't going to quit because Free Companies aren't out yet. People are going to quit if the game doesn't perform as promised.

Track record between both XI and XIV for longevity? Keep in mind that the original 1.0 model (yes, I was a CE launch player, never stopping) was built around the premise of revolutionizing the MMO as we know it. Tanaka and his group took a huge gamble and whiffed. That happens. After that, SE showed their experience by reversing, changing the team, and rebuilding based on current models that are successful. To me, that sure seems like experience and not amateur behavior.

EDIT to expand upon previous statement: The big gamble that SE whiffed on was two things: server-side transactions (to counter bots/RMT) and trying to find the grey area between hardcore and casual. The first was just poorly done. As far as I can see there just isn't any way to do this. The latter was, as stated, a huge gamble and a huge whiff. Many games are trying to get the pulse of this area and I'm beginning to think it doesn't exist. But that isn't a bad thing because the market constantly evolves and, when it finally does exist (if it doesn't already), someone will nail it. Some people feel WoW already did but the conversation is so polarizing that it's unlikely.

Not to mention that that version WAS unfinished. A lot of the systems had potential but it seems that they just tried to finish them quickly to cut losses at launch. Didn't really work.

You guys complaining do realize that people starting the game have no Level 50 jobs... haven't done primal fights (even if they are roaming), job quests, haven't done the dungeons... haven't done any Grand company quests and so on. I mean there is so much that even though YOU might have done them all (Which you probably haven't), the game isn't just for you and will be more than enough for new players. Not to mention you, even as a veteran, have to explore the whole world, relearn the game (Probably a new job released) New dungeons, new story lines, new racial options. New recipes for gear and gear sets, better coloring system for more individuality... I could go on but it probably won't stop people from complaining about the lack of content in a game they haven't even played and whose game play they only just saw 2 days ago

You know, not everything is accurately translated. Racing was never mentioned in the documents, nor was mentioned at all by the dev team in any interview, so there was most likely a mistranslation, though I am hoping Chocobo Raising is a feature that will appear at, or very soon after launch.

If he wants a Golden Saucer type place, given recent FF games (XI/XIII-2) racing is just another part, so he likely could have let that bit slip out.

Story quest, primals, dungeons, strongholds, and NMs is not enough for a new player the first 3 month?
Don't think they don't bring some of our current content to 2.0 only because they don't bring many new content with the 2.0 start. A new player have enough to do.

What? No raid? You know that a raid in this game is another word for instanced dungeon?
So, let's see. There is a lv 15 dungeon (comfirmed in a interview), Darkhold, AV, Cutters Cry.
I'm sure that SE bring first low level content and mid level content at start. There is enough old endlevel content for the first 3 month, but this game need lowlevel and midlevel content for the new players or they would be gone before they reach level 35.

And for the old players there is still the relict quest ^^

Not to mention leveling alone. I mean sure you could technically enter end-game with one 50 but you're missing out on two other classes worth of skills you could be pulling from on your job, which are often quite helpful. After getting all those levels comes the gearing and melding if they've got the money.

Those aren't the majority of the features that made 2.0 though. When they announced 2.0, they already said that Free Companies, Crystal Tower, PvP, etc. was not going to be at release. If PvP is at release they are actually ahead of schedule. Only because you assumed what was not said(what was said was actually the opposite), doesn't mean that it has to happen.
