Please Do Not Lock New DPS Spells Behind Other Spells / Skills

Agree or disagree with it, Squareenix still is taking the stance that they don't want healers to have rotational damage rotations. That being said it seems like they are meeting us halfway by essentially giving us a dps cooldown instead of a rotational ability. They are clearly listening, but I think they are missing the mark a little bit. Happy we are getting something though. Hopefully in the 8.x changes when they decide to push jobs into more unique posistions, we will hopefully see some healers go the way of dps rotation and some healers not so that we have a good variety.

Looking at the Job Action Trailer again, I did see that WHM used another ability after Holy. It looks like a upgraded Assize, but I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm?

Seriously, that new AoE ability for WHM should have been a GCD ability on a 15 or 20 sec cooldown.

Edit: If the new DPS abilities are not being separated into two separate actions, perhaps a compromise can be made? Both Presence of Mind and Chain Stratagem have 120sec cooldowns. Perhaps we can lower their CDs to 60secs. Maybe reintroduce traits that shorten the CDs of both abilities, like how SCH's Quickened Aetherflow trait used to work be pre-Shb.

Definitely agree with you, I think it is very lame to add essentially one button press every 2 minutes (in SCH case) or 3 uses of a completely thematically unrelated ability to Presence of Mind for WHM. I don't mind abilities being tied to others, but only when it makes sense. The WHM one doesn't make any sense thematically.

The new DPS buttons make the 2 minute windows for healers (except AST) slightly more engaging and interesting, but it's still fundamentally a role where you press 111111131111111 for 90% of an encounter past prog which is the main issue with the role atm.

SGE looks like the clear winner if the AOE DOT is still a DPS gain on single target with a low cooldown, and if this other ability is a follow up to every Phlegma usage.

WHM is just whatever tbh, just 3 OGCD's to weave inbetween your glare mashing when doing your burst window, it's something but definitely less interesting than a potential DOT with a low cooldown and different timer to the generic 30s healer dot.

SCH feels like a loser, having its DOT tied to a 2 minute cooldown, which requires you to burn a single target tool for an AOE one. Unless it's a DPS gain on single target over Broil then it'll just be sitting on your hotbar unused, and it feels wasteful to chain strategem a fodder mob if you know you'll be getting to a boss within the next 2 minutes.

Worst case scenario all of these DOTS are DPS losses on single target and will be relegated to dungeons and not high end raids, which is laughably bad and a clear sign of their catering to casuals if its the case. But we'll have to wait and see.

I’m currently leaning towards E dyskrasia will be a loss on 1, the new attack they didn’t explain will be a gain on 1 (it’ll be the equivalent of the other healer skills) and the SCH dot will be a gain on 1

They don’t seem to have a problem making SGE semi interesting in dungeons given it already has 4 gain on 2 DPS buttons but I don’t think they will make e dyskrasia a gain on 1 because that would make it very very strong in AOE situations. Meanwhile given the SCH DOT procs off chain it seems explicitly designed to be used in single target as it will probably replace chain upon pressing chain, it seems very unnatural for that procced skill to not work in the instance that chain scales the hardest

Even if E. Dyskrasia is a loss on 1, I'm just going to cast it anyway out of spite. Maybe that's my strategy going into DT. Ignore "wrong" plays. Use Pneuma on cooldown even if the party's at full health. Reapply E. Dosis at 15 seconds. Block tankbusters with E. Diagnosis and burn Toxikon IIs. Overwrite E. Dosis with E. Dyskrasia simply so that I can feel my own pulse.

I should point out, the SCH chain followup is an ogcd, so it'll always be a gain bc it will be competing with doing nothing. It had the blue flash before it was cast. Conversely, the WHM buttons aren't oGCDs, they're instant cast spells.

I really really doubt E.Dyskrasia will be its own dot. I suspect it will just apply the same mono target dot E.Dosis applies overriting it. I think they added the option to AoE dot because of how many inputs SGE needs to perform when multi dotting in instances. Where other healers just press the DoT button and change targets, SGE needs to press two each time.

Healers would be much more fun if RNG Procs were more a thing on some, I don't think they would need a "standard" rotation, casters don't really have a combo path and i think healers should obviously take more inspiration from casters

I guess theirs also the topic of "rng is bad" which I disagree with, esp when it comes to things that change up how you play a job.
