I like FF14 and WoW. So what now?
Cheers
I don't play WoW. I don't even know what is WoW until some rando in my first LotA playthrough lightly accused me of being a "WoW refugee" after I continuously ask the party about the mechanics so much.
Somethings are a matter of perspective/opinion, while others are objective reality. Blizzard doens't have any ethics or moral nowadays. It's just business. At least CBU3 pretend very well they care about their playerbase.
For those who have no idea why:
WoW has multiple monetization system. You need to buy the game, monthly subscription or wow token, and now you have trading post with a currency that you can buy using IRL money....imagine if we had Khloe's Wondrous Tails by real money: If you pay enough, you could acquire your three lines. That is exactly what they are doing with a minor twist: you need 500 coins (example) to acquire a specific item, your max by month is 400, by coincidence, we sell 100 in the store by $10. They started slowly. On the first month, players were able to acquire all items by playing. By the third and fourth month, you had to choose what you want and keep a reserve for the next month (without knowing if will be worth it, if you spend it now, you can buy more later anyway).
Not to mention run selling in a game where end game gear matters, worst, a game director (Mike Ybarra) was selling runs during his own live.
Not to mention lore, continuous retcons and gearing complexity, and i am only talking about WoW. The situation is even worse in Diablo 4 and Overwatch.
FFXIV is far from perfect...we could have a better -optional- farming loop, more stuff to do with our iLVL and places to use our mounts. However, at least they keep what we like and try to innovate here and there without having to copy 100% what other games are doing.
Btw, some professional complainers here should try something else for a while. I would love to see.
I am indifferent towards WoW. I play FF14 because I like it. I was playing for 10 years, and I have not intention to stop.
I played WoW several years ago and didn't like anything about that game, nor his community, game aesthetic or gameplay design. Anyway, as far I know as I read things about WoW, Blizzard is no longer Blizzard, it is Activision, and people is not happy on what Activision is doing. But I do not care about that game.
FFXIV has a loooot of issues with gearing in that there is no complexity at all, get the item with crit + det/DH as there is only one piece between savage and tomes that will have the perfect stats.
Honestly, I wish FFXIV stole more things from WoW as they do have some good ideas that I wish would get implemented here.
Not to mention the other problem with Legion weapons......
