But how am I gonna be the Mr Happy of RP, the king of 14 YouTube vids but in this case best RP'R if I don't take charge & make things happen, no one ever got nothing by sitting around waiting, probably why I didn't have very many GFs in my life, I was always thinking they just are intimidated by my awesomeness but could it truly be my fault for not taking charge & approaching them, I don't want this problem to bleed into my RP sessions.

About learning, everyone is always learning (even Thancred). So, you are just a normal person. I just wanted to give you some hints based on my time at Balmung.
I don't do RP anymore, but I loved when I did back then. And I met a lot of different people doing RP in different ways. There is not a recipe to follow, but some rules must be respected in order to keep things respectful for everyone involved.

And, welcome to RP! I hope you enjoy it as I did!

And don't care much about real life insecurity around girls. When things has to happen, it happens ;)

Already explained earlier, and again it's implementation is based on what the Japanese entail it for.

Not the western approach which is why do many eu and na players get so much stuff wrong in how things work in this game

We're Westerners. We're playing this game the way we see fit. And it's common for Westerners to roleplay in the sense of "acting out something with a given lore or character". It's why we love our re-enactments so much.

Why does this bother you so much to the point of calling them "trash" and "stains"? Because we're playing "roleplaying" the way we see it and not how the Japanese see it? Are you now the cross-culture gaming police?

Ah, well I've been browsing through this thread and I don't see any post where you make mention of what the in-game status and search tag known as 'Roleplaying' is used for. Neither do I see where you've stated its actual intended usage. To further clarify, I'm referring to the one that puts the icon 'RP' next to the character's floating nametag.

What purpose could the devs had in mind when they implemented this feature? I'd like to be able to roleplay strictly within the guidelines entailed by the Japanese, as I'm sure you do as well.

I remember when they are migrating the game engine from the 1.x version to 2.0 and all forums here (which was always composed by people from different parts of the world) had the chance to be used for pulls surveys made by the devs for such things like:

"What do you preffer in 2.0?
1- more emotes and the possibility to get mounts earlier in the game
2- male miqo'tes and female Roegadyns
3- simplifying the class-to-job system"

And so on.

ALL PEOPLE IN THE WORLD answered these polls back then and based on the feedback, they targeted those desires made by the community as a whole as priority for the changes in their new game. So this relationship between devs and community started this way and never changed since then


We had a lot of surveys like this throghout all the production and the beta phase of ARR. At that moment, the devs stated that they will not do more surveys, but they will keep looking on the feedback, suggestions and all desires the community manifests in the forums. In fact, that is why this forum exists in first place for them. This pratice is used 'til today and we see a lot of new features and new details based on what everyone here is saying (not only Japonese forums).

An example is the very Viera race which was a request by the community here after Yoshi asked us in a survey like "do you want us to implement an exotic race like Viera?". And then, after, all the bunny boys was requested not by Japonese only, but EVERYONE.

The most recent example was the feedback we provided about Hrotghars ears on the new hairstyles. They corrected some of them to satisfy our complainings.

The devs of this game never forgot to listen to everyone. Things they can't implement they tell us why or when they will solve but they never keep their minds away from what we want.

In fact, that's why this game is such a success worldwide: they listen all the community and decide stuff based on what works better in a worldwide scale. They consider our desires when implementing new features (limited only by work logistics and engine limitations, time, etc).

There is no point in attend just one part of the community despite the rest of the world since it's a worldwide service/product provided by them '-'

Even if they consider japonese culture more, they still keep listening to everyone and provide services for everyone. Like RP... wordlwide known RP '-'

Anyone else playing Octopath Traveler 2, it's the 1st turn based RPG I ever played, I'm really digging it, it's fun.

Well, trolls aside, I've found this video about RP.

It might be usefull for everyone interested in starting this nice way to interact inside game :)

And a reminder: altough the lack of some improvements in the RP, FFXIV has a nice RP community in overall and it's quite easy to "get started". The most problematic part is to find or initiate a regular RP group outside from where it is most established (Balmung and Crystal DC). Despite that, is not impossible to have nice RP sessions with small groups in any server. All you have to do is to find people willing to do it and start it in your own way :)
