RP Party finders being reported AGAIN without so much as a reason.

It has a second meaning: a period of brief or casual involvement with something. "Berkeley was my last dalliance with the education system"

The thing is a player could choose that word thinking it's fine to use it given it is used in the name of a track that can be seen in-game if you have the orchestrion. That track is played SO MUCH in the msq and it's never played with the context of anything sexual going on in the scenes. So even SE themselves acknowledge the other meaning, even if indirectly.

At this point I think SE should just give a list of pre-determined tags that players must use to describe what they're using PF for, and not be able to type a description themselves, so that no one could get in trouble for unwittingly using a word that SE, for whatever reason, deem to be inappropriate. This situation is ridiculous and needs to stop.

I think the bigger issue is their stance on defending the reporter over everything else. Even if they gave us a list of approved tags and such, it doesn't change the fact that it might still upset someone who is or is not part of this witch hunt. The GMs aren't going to just ignore their problems because of how they feel about protecting the person offended. Like, I'm still here waiting for them to adjust how friend lists work so I can actually be removed from the other person's list and not be able to be tracked by my ex when cross-DC opens up. They're more concerned with the feelings of the person on the other end.

So, even if they gave us tags I feel like people would still get pulled into the Gaol to be told that they're still violating the ToS cause it's disrupting someone else's game. They basically backed themselves into a corner with how they created the ToS and the loopholes that emerged because of it.

If the system is literally "you're offended so I will automatically discipline the player" then the system is frankly stupid. This would mean anyone could report someone for anything, even if they knew they did nothing wrong, just to get them in trouble.

And if the system is like that then I wonder why GM staff aren't replaced with AI. It would have the same effect in the end. Highly flawed judgement.

I mean people do that, tbh.
For example, I had a friend who would like to embrace/dote his gf in the middle of Limsa at random periods back when I lived in Primal. Nothing I personally would consider spam (2-3 emotes at at time in broad intervals), just cute flirting and stuff like that. Cut to him getting yanked into Gaol and being given a strike for being disruptive or something similar along those lines, I forget the exact quote. So logic would assume it was either someone reporting him for spam (emotes) or someone jealous of their interactions and reported it for disrupting their experience. Needless to say they both don't play FF anymore and tbh I don't really blame them.

Taking into account the context, I very much highly doubt you can reason it to being in accordance with this definition. But I'll give the benefit of the doubt; let's say that it is- In future do your due diligence with what vocabulary you use when soliciting an advertisement, and don't use vocabulary on a whim. Though I daresay they used the word full well knowing the definition and double meaning. This is clear by "dalliances, oh my!" - Clearly they didn't have the most innocent of intentions here. It'd have been reasonable if it were "[18+] Come dalliance in our event to include drinks and dancers" - The meaning I'm using is much clearer with the latter than it is the former. Even by unreasonable accounts. Next time the person should do due diligence with their vocabulary and how they structure their advertisements.

Or they could just outright give an example that doing mature/18+ advertisements in a public space like the party finder is not suitable for the minimum age bracket that the game is so clearly specified as. Which shouldn't be by any reasonable account.

Sorry first one thought they were being sleek and it back fired. My guess is the same for the second one also.

I just do not get why rpers just do not use the discord method. Post a vague link in PF with a link to discord for details. Works for RMT.

Sometimes I wonder if these are being reported by people who see the RP advertisement, go to the venue as described, and THEN report the advertisement, which is why the GM is so vague and secretive about it. It's still a shitty form of trolling, but it's the only explanation I can think about why some RP venues are reported and others are not.

There's a reason I put on the /busy tag whenever I go to the Quicksand on my Balmung alts - I get unsolicited tells otherwise. If that's what happens when someone enters one of the RP venues being advertised, then yeah, that's not cool.

They're manipulating the optics of the situation by concealing incriminating details about the venue to 'protect' it. The dalliance thing is probably a red herring and totally irrelevant to why they were actioned.

The OP is associated with a venue located in the lavender beds, on mateus, open thursdays (the night this was posted). Some of the other people posting in this thread are also employees of that same venue.

Said venue has a carrd that openly details and prices ERP services. This is very likely the carrd that was linked in the PF, and very likely what they were actioned for.

Even if it's not that venue, the OP is openly involved in selling ERP services for a number of organizations so it's not a stretch to believe whatever this venue was wasn't the most upstanding place.

Except that's not the system. Innocent people have nothing to be worried about.
I got reported more than once after offending someone for no reason and nothing ever happened. Weird isn't it ? Well no actually it's normal.
You don't get pulled into GM jail for no reason, and we know from the past that people who got wrongfully warned got their strike removed.

The GM said on both cases to the player to keep in mind the age rating of the game. Just need some common sense to understand that asking for 18+ people for dalliances is not accepted. The word is ambiguous ? Well isn't it just perfect to disguise some ERP ads. So the OP was either less innocent that they pretend or too ambiguous to be considered as such.
There are things we all know are worth a warning. For example spamming emotes or let's say publicly advertise adult content in PF.
It seems to be the exact same problem with all these forum threads "I got warned for advertising my totally SFW RP venue that totally didn't have ERP implied here and there".

I can do a google search and find some FF14 Discord ERP servers in like 30 seconds.
So why do people feel the need to publicly advertise adult content (explicitly or disguised) to an audience partly underaged when you have safer alternatives ?
