[Suggestion] Fashion/Vanity Slots.

If we would have this system people would run around still looking same. They would all choose the awesome looking gear.
It fits in a game like DC Universe Online because it has a super hero theme. Remember how super heroes dress up?
Also DCUO has rather simple looking gear compared to FFXIV but its has quite a lot of difrent looking gear so the chance is higher that people will end up looking diffrent with such a system.

Also people cry anyway about how the stat system in FFXIV has almost no impact on your dmg etc. and how gear has to low stats. So why dont choose gear by looks and add some Materia which has bigger impact on stats anyway?

People already all look the same if they are currently maxing stats. Black Mages are all wearing some sort of Felt Cavalier Hat, Tights or Gaskins and Pattens shoes along with the AF body. If you want to maximise your stats you are pretty much stuck with the same outfit as everyone else.
That is why I wanted to post this thread, so people in the future have the option of wearing what they want (with reasonable restrictions in place) and also benefit from the stats of certain pieces that may otherwise look ugly or clash with your outfit.

Lets not forget I personnaly love using a full set of gear, I hate mixing and matching based on what is best, full set always looks better.

Also different people prefer different things, it would show what the indevidual wants to look like, right now I feel like a mindless drone marching looking exactly the same as everyone else I want to don my onion helm but its useless, this system will allow me to do that.

In the end it is what the dev team decides though I guess. They've designed nice FF outfits for their characters in the past. Especially Amano...his stuff is awesome. I would love an outfit like Rosa or Rydia. Even FFT had nice armor/costumes.

I think if Square Enix added some form of Set-Bonus to certain pieces of gear. It would negate the need for any form of Vanity Slot. I think Vanity Slots could easily create an issue where in you think someone is a White Mage, you examine them, and they turn out to be a BLM. Something like that could occur if you're allowed free reign with Vanity Slots. Once the re-dying process is implemented, and is complemented by NPCs dying equipment in 2.0; Most classes gear will look fine without the need of a Vanity Slot.

Yes please, awesome idea, thread has a lot of likes so hopefully it will get the attention of a community dev.

No, the Mannequin system was put forward by Yoshida's and it is more like instant gear change macros, it's completely different to what the OP is asking for.

Of course they could work this idea into the mannequin system so that you could change out your main gear as well as your vanity gear at a click of a button.

I'm wondering if the addition of a vanity weapon would be a good idea also.

For example main weapon equipped could be Ifrit weapon and vanity weapon could be Moogle or Garudan weapon.

Ever since I saw the 'vanity' layer that flyff or lotro has I wanted FFXI or FFXIV to have one. I made mention in my blog post about this and other things a while back ^^

That almost sounds like reasons NOT to have a vanity slot, or at least a reason not to have a cash shop.

Did you actually read the OP? I did not even mention any fashion items. The idea is to be able to wear current armour as a skin over potentially mismatched or ugly armour. Some posts may have asked for fashion items but my original OP does not mention anything like that, as I know what sort of reaction it would get.

Of course people may reply to posts in the thread, but please don't make broad assumptions without reading the OP. I just want a civil thread so it stays up long enough to get the attention of the community reps and devs. ^_^
