Pretty much. I don't mind the token system solution. I have probably 60 runs under my belt, with no drops. Leave the RNG in place, but for people who can run it enough times, have another option available, aside from enriching lucky players with tens of millions of gil! ... or simply fix the drop rates.

Well the pets for example, especially the Morbol one.

Also what will people do if the content is death and nobody sells it anymore? I just dont like hairstyles as rewards from such content. Especially when we barely just get any new hairstyle to begin with.

I imagine they'd raise the drop rates like they do for lots of old content.
Like they do for mounts in past expacs EX raids.
Like they do for minions at the end of old alliance raids.
Like they did with 50/60/70 dungeons where they adjust the chests so less of them drop only accessories.
I don't think we should expect the hair to be an absurdly rare drop forever that just gets more inaccessible with time. There's very little content that doesn't adjust their drop rates over time, with NPC Triple Triad drops being one of the few I can actually think of.

I have done another 16 runs since I last posted here. Fourth relic weapon. Not a single drop. No hair, no barding, no mount. I am now at the point where I am burnt out of DR. I have run this so many times and gotten nothing but relic progress, despite there being actual semi-desirable drops. It is annoying; soul-crushing.

What baffles me is how people don't understand that adding items to a token system doesn't make them less rare than something you might get on your first run. If the hair and mount cost 999 silver coins or whatever it would be just as rare, if not rarer because it would still take over 50 runs and only the dedicated will get their hands on it. The only thing it does is add QoL so some unlucky person won't statistically get the short end of the stick and end up with nothing after 100 runs.

Rng is an old, outdated system. The people who like rng don't want rarity, they want to get lucky every so often and have a "rare" item without having had to work too hard for it.

Case in point, the two Unreal mounts. Both still sell in excess of 15-20M despite having been available for months. Granted, I don't love the whole fox nonsense but the takeaway here is there's a consistent grind that will inevitably guarantee you the reward over time with RNG being a bonus instead of a hindrance. With the hairstyle, it feels blatant they know people will stop running it after finishing their preferred relic. So they made it obnoxiously low in the hopes of keeping them there, spamming it.

They reeled me in for two more relic weapons than I had planned, just because I wanted to make my money back after having bought the hair. I thought doing it 75+ times would have netted me something, but apparently not.

I'm pretty much at my limit now though. I'll start another relic quest, and just do it passively. If I get CT in roulette 15 times, and eventually get back to DR, I'll consider doing it again.

53 runs here. Got the barding on the 42nd (yay? I guess?). No mount, no hair. Spent all my essences too. I am very tired of it all by now. And no, I am not going to buy either of them from the market. And in fact, I feel stupid for doing so many runs. There is a reason I dont play chance games irl, lol.

I'ts around 9 mil in Aether atm. Still, spending that much on a hairstyle, specially after so many runs (too many for me, probably other people can be at it for much longer) would make me feel worse, so I rather don't.

It's "only" 8 million instead of 20 (and that seems consistent across Elemental DC as far as I've checked), but that's still a huge amount of money to be asking from a player.

Affordable for people who've been around for a while, but far out of the reach of newer players - my alts are around late SB or into ShB, generally with a lot of rouletting and multiple classes raised, and that would be all the money they own.

I hope it will drop further, but I'm worried that it won't. Or it won't stay down.

I really dislike the pattern of locking hairstyles behind content as prestige items. Glamour and mounts, fine. But hairstyles can be such an integral part of a character design, and it's so offputtimg that some will be permanently locked behind these high prices and arbitrary grinds while others are free or easily obtained.
