I don’t RP either but I have this personal-cannon head that I mentally narrate my character’s personal lore, his thoughts, habits etc,.
I like to call it my own “magical thinking/visualization with feeling & inspiration” if you will.
Vencio isn’t inherently tied to a specific job/class but rather he’s an average & versatile character whose story is always weaving & continuing on a daily basis as I play along ((This is why I love my avatar & will never use fantasia.
At first Vencio was enlisted as a reserve for Ishgard’s Templar Knights in the basis of Martial Skill, Spiritualism/Faith & diplomacy ((Paladin & White Mage)).
Give being excommunicated, he employs these skills & knowledge for as simple as avoiding or resolving conflicts, self defense ((Vencio avoids fighting as much as possible & apply force when all else fails)) & maintaining resilience at life’s odds through Faith & willpower.

Yes, my characters only do jobs that suit their personalities. My fierce character won't touch white mage or bard but my nature loving character is a WHM and BRD but she won't touch MCH or WAR

To a degree? Yes and no. My main character grew up in The Black Shroud and was trained as a lancer, but the moment he came of age he took off for the vast deserts of Thanalan and the open seas beyond to live a free life away from the "claustrophobic" forest. He's more of a bandit these days but he still carries around the same old rusty billhook that's served him well for years. Although technically a Dragoon in game, that doesn't factor into the character at all. Lately it's become more and more apparent that he needs to "modernize" and "get with the times" so he may be going machinist soon.

Yes.
My character is a Dark Knight due to being dissatisfied with strictly martial classes/ jobs & his perceived limitations with them.
After the fall of Ala Mihgo, his families exodus from Gyr Abania led him to question his early days of training as a Monk in the order of Rhalgar. Eventually his studies would take him to Ishgard.

Yeah, kind of.
Tsiron left the Steppe, unable to adapt to the Iriq tribe (after the Borlaaq kicked them out for "becoming male"), confused and frustrated, which led to them developing their Inner Beast, as per the Warrior storyline.
In HW they become a Dark Knight, switching to greatsword as their skills improved (not reflected by DRK animations but ah well), while learning to harness their trauma... Inner Beast in a... different manner.
Their greatsword shattered during the fight with Zenos in Rhalgr's Reach, and they began to second-guess the path they'd chosen (and also no longer felt "fit" to "tank"). They spend some time as a Ninja, learning to rely on more than just brute strength and rancour. After defeating Zenos as a Ninja, all of their experiences came together into their new class: Samurai!

The answer is: no. Because the classes/jobs do not have enough substance to be a part of my character's identity. The jobs are basically rotations. And a rotation alone is not enough.
Cheers

Oh yes-100%
My name is Ausar Viled, which is based on Isat [Osiris], the god of death and destruction and Vile, is a play on gamer culture. Since many of society believes ‘gamers’=Evil.
Since the name matches black mage- it is my main. But I also want to try out Death knight, and reaper when it launches with endwalker.
As a kid, I had a different name, mephalis after the sonic character in sonic06. But when I realized who the name stood for, I changed it to Ausar.
And yes. Black mage is fun. Blowing stuff up, and managing black mage psychosis is a lot of fun [anger induced by being forced to move and not hitting]
