Petition to Lift Balmung Server Lock / Impact of Server Lock on FFXIV RP Community

Why do people are so easy to forget about bad things? Doesn’t anyone remember the chaos it was during early access because you couldn’t get past MSQ because the servers were full and it even affected other worlds? I transferred off Aether right after Raubahn savage and I remember people complaining about it a few days later and also about Pipin. Lifting the ban would only result is something close to that on the next expansion

Isn't that lock the only thing keeping gil spammer bots out? And you want me to give that up so your RP shenanigans can be 'more vibrant and viable'?

Possibly, but the bots are still there. There's actually quite a few and you can see them often enough teleporting around in Ul'dah. They don't spam us with messages, but they're still gil sellers. But we really haven't had gil spammers since maybe 2.1 or 2.2.

Meh. New server blood is always a good thing as long as the blood isn't composed of RMT bots (is Gilgamesh inundated already?)

RP created this mess on Balmung though, and advocating paid transfers to get in made it worse.. If SE thinks there are still too many people for server stability's sake, then there's still too many people.
If Balmung had been locked long ago, maybe we wouldn't be locked now.

Stop dragging Gilgamesh into your crap. Stop using it as a leverage tool, and stop using it period.

I hate to break this to you OP, but most likely Balmung will remain closed for several months after the pop has decreased to a suitable amount.

Squenix is not stupid, they have realized by now the problem that comes with the mob mentality you proudly spew on the forums. They know that if they re-open the server too soon people will just flock back to Balmung and we are back to where we started (and then we will have to endure even more 'open balmung, reeeeeeeeee' threads).

The only way out of this is to wait a long enough time so people that moved out of Balmung take root in other servers and will not be willing to give up on what they have to return to Balmung. How long do you think that takes? I'd estimate we won't be seeing Balmung reopening in less than 6 months to maybe a year from now.

On Balmung I don't imagine there would be, if it's been locked that long.
A couple members of the FC I'm in just made some new characters on Omega (I think?) and said the spammer plague is still very much alive and well. I personally don't know and can't say because the last time I saw them was when I was still on Leviathan, but since coming to Balmung at the beginning of 3.0 I haven't gotten a single tell/shout/friend request from them. I do see clusters of bots here and there farming things, but no spammers.

At the end of day, SE's opinion is the only one that matters when it comes to this matter for better or worse

We can debate (and there doesn't seem to be much of one) until 5.0 drops and it would not matter to SE.

I have my blacklist maxed out, so they were there at some point. Not dealing with them is nice, but having to have locked server to keep them out isn't fun. I haven't met EVERYONE on our server, there's quite a few people, but it's nice to have new people coming in.
