Periodic Warrior complaint thread episode 2

Pressing fell cleave 6 times, weaving 2 ogcds in 20s is not twice as hard as fitting 2 goring blades within one fight or flight, what the hell are you even talking about. Do you even play these jobs you're talking about lol. If you struggle to find the 20s "safe" window for berserk you probably weren't even good with 3.x war anyway. With the 4.05 changes inner release rotation is much less punishing, since you only lose 1-2 onslaughts even if you mess up. If you don't even have near max gauge going into inner release then you just fail your resource management, it's nothing different from not having 4 abandon stacks before berserk in 3.x. War is lacking utility compared to pld, but their difficulty is fine. It sounds to me you just don't know how to play it. No offense, but do you even raid with war?

i mean i get it you're maining a pld and it's normal if pld player doesn't want the other tanks to get better because it will disturb their guaranteed raid spot but yeah they still need some fixing
they're not as punishing but it is still harder to pull off than others

I was a war main throughout 3.x, even until I cleared o3s first week. I switched to pld because my static replaced our previous pld with someone who only had war lvld to 70, and the two of us are holding pretty high % both personal dps and combined tank dps. We do tank swaps and cd planning for every fight this tier together, I know war mitigation and dps rotation pretty well. I had full 95%+ parses as a war in a9s-a12s pre-echo, and while it doesn't matter much, post-echo I did some decent speedkill attempts as war (excluding a11s, never managed to get a clean speedkill there before my group got bored). You can look me up on fflogs if you think I don't know the job well enough to comment on it.

The only "hard" part about using inner release and/or berserk is to figure out whether using it will make you fuck up a mechanic or have to disengage in the middle of that 20s. It's the same shit every single job that has offensive cd does. You can get fucked over if you're a pld and you pop requiescat before you have to move for a while or use aggro combo to pick an add. Again, pressing fell cleave 6x, doing a path combo, and weaving 3 ogcds don't make war rotation hard.

I'll probably try getting a few o4s clears as war when I feel like it, and maybe get some cleaner clears on the first three floors.

That person you quoted had pre-echo a4s and a8s kills on fflogs. That should say something about their skills as a war and as a raider in general.

This is simply a childish way of thinking.

If Warrior's DPS just boiled down to pressing fell cleave six times and tossing in an upheaval, we'd be seeing absurd margins in the top percentile of parses compared to the other two, as opposed to the very minute differences we're seeing. While the rotation is certainly daunting at first, it's not really the hard part about WAR; the largest issue I've encountered is timing and opportunity. Not only do you need to time your abilities to line up with inner release, but inner release itself has to be timed with the fight and the party in order to have as great a window as possible to fit in your burst rotation and maximize its damage.

Heck, I don't even think this is a bad thing, I LIKE having a tank that is challenging to play, but overcoming that barrier should see far greater rewards than what we're seeing.

Well... it's kind of the point. This is a thread for Warriors who are unhappy with how it currently is. Not for Paladins to be unhappy with Warriors who are unhappy. Like... that's the topic.

let's just agree to disagree, because tbh with you i don't care if you think it's not hard to do or if you think it doesn't need a change because you think it's not hard to do, i still want that change because for me overall WAR in 4.0 has been pretty disappointing.
and this thread is called periodic warrior complaint after all, this is place for people that don't like the current war and want it to be changed, so by arguing with others saying they don't need any change you're basically in a wrong place the whole time dude.
