Bad comparison. Champagne has a high production cost, of course they will never lower the price of the champagne or give it out for free because it takes years to make. The vanity items are modelled and finished. There is no cost to make more of them.

Sqaure Enix doesn't have nearly the profits Blizzard does. That being said, each product is allotted a finite budget they are expected to stay within. I suspect the Cash Shop is used exclusive to finance XIV while everything else is shared amongst the company. Either way, XIV has largely been a low cost high return venture that only recently got a jump in its budget total.

Basic sense makes me doubt it. There is no possible way they couldn't afford what poorer companies can without cash shops.
It's extremely clear it's just around to maximize income by exploiting the bad decisions of the affluent. And while that's well and good for those that can afford it, it puts poorer players at a disadvantage.

Of course they'd say it would go towards that, it's technically true. Any income can/would go towards any budget the company decides.

We're paying $50 for an expansion and have paid $12 monthly for the past 2 years. We should be getting that stuff in a successful. If a cash shop is needed on top of that just to deliver the things that you mentioned, a refresh to systems that already exist, then FFXIV is becoming almost too expensive to run. That's a formula for collapsing in on itself.

I don't have an issue w/ the cash shop (outside of the whole "eastern" theme being milked to death on the eve of an far eastern expansion). I just think that if the playerbase starts to feel diminishing returns from said shop and their subscription, it might be time to rethink budgetary priorities.

Noone is forcing you to buy it.

I don't think Yoshi-P or the rest of the Dev team would say anything or be allowed to say anything about the games financial situation.
Personally, I think SE pools all their money together and gives XIV a stipend, increasing it when it's time for a new expansion.

Not necessarily. No company focuses the bulk of their budget on a single product. Keep in mind, A Realm Reborn was intended as little more than salvage after Sqaure nearly went under. They weren't going to allocate significant funds until XIV proved viable, which is why Stormblood supposedly has a substantially higher budget than Heavensward did. The Cash Shop has been a way XIV makes money for itself. Our subs pay for development of patch content and into other SE products like FFXV and FFVII: Remake.
